Bears | Jordan Howard may not play Thursday

Tue, 07 Aug 2018 13:44:33 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (knee) banged his knee in practice recently but is fine, according to head coach Matt Nagy. Still, it would be surprise to see him play Thursday, Aug. 9, in the opinion of the Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell.

Fantasy Tip: The Bears won't risk anything with their starting running back. Howard should be good to go for the regular season opener and can be selected as a low-end RB1 or high-end RB2 in Nagy's promising new offense.

Bears | Jordan Howard to play every down?

Sat, 21 Jul 2018 19:12:25 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard "can play all three downs," according to head coach Matt Nagy. "We're going to do that," Nagy said. "We're going to use him and we're going to use other guys on first and second down when we need to."

Fantasy Tip: While Howard will undoubtedly see some targets out of the backfield, Tarik Cohen figures to see plenty of time on passing downs. Howard is still a low-end RB1 or strong RB2, but he is unlikely to have the every-down impact to join the ranks of the elite fantasy backs.

Bears | Jordan Howard has been used often

Mon, 16 Jul 2018 09:19:16 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard has rushed the ball 528 times over the last two seasons, which is the fifth-most rushes in the NFL during that span.

Fantasy Tip: Howard has rushed for at least 1,100 yards in each of his first two seasons and will continue to receive plenty of touches. He can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Bears | Chicago to keep backfield door 'spinning'

Tue, 10 Jul 2018 10:51:03 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is expected to be the team's feature back per comments made by head coach Matt Nagy this spring, but Nagy also made it clear he plans to "keep the door spinning" in the rotation, according to Dan Wiederer of The Chicago Tribune.

Fantasy Tip: Given the expected improvement in the Bears' passing game, Howard's rushing attempts will almost certainly decline from the 276 he had in 2017. This report is just further evidence Tarik Cohen is primed for a substantial role. With that said, Howard is the only "big back" Chicago has and has proven to be a very good runner, so he's going to get the work at the goal line in what should be a much better offense this season. He may come with more volatility than usual, but he's still a solid RB2 option.

Bears | 'Game specific' plan for Jordan Howard

Thu, 31 May 2018 17:40:47 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard said that head coach Matt Nagy already deemed him "the main guy," but while he's proven he can be a traditional bell-cow running back, Nagy also mentioned that "in this offense, it's more game specific as to whether or not you need that."

Fantasy Tip: Howard's draft stock is tricky to project, as he is coming off a pair of real solid seasons but with his criticisms in the passing game in terms of dropping passes, that means backfield teammate Tarik Cohen should receive plenty of work as well. In other words, while Howard is a tempting RB2 option, he may have his weeks with very little production in the boxscore.

Bears | Jordan Howard to be factor in passing game?

Fri, 25 May 2018 10:21:19 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is working on some issues to help him become a better receiver out of the backfield, according to new running backs coach Charles London, who mentioned hand placement, focus and concentration and hand-eye coordination as some of the areas he is hoping to see improvement.

Fantasy Tip: The ability to contribute much as a receiver has been Howard's one fatal flaw when it comes to taking the next step and becoming a potential elite fantasy starter. With all the skill-position talent they now have on the roster, the Bears should be able to open things up for the running game, which should make the third-year back's job as easy as it has ever been. Even if he loses a few more snaps to Tarik Cohen, Howard is primed to enjoy the best fantasy season of his career in 2018.

Bears | Jordan Howard won't be traded

Tue, 17 Apr 2018 11:27:58 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard's agent said the Bears will not be trading their star running back.

Fantasy Tip: Chicago's offense is coming together and Howard will arguably be its most important asset. He has averaged 1,217.5 yards and 7.5 touchdowns over his first two years and deserves attention as a low-end RB1.

Bears | Jordan Howard to catch more passes?

Thu, 29 Mar 2018 19:26:15 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard will be asked to catch the ball more in head coach Matt Nagy's offense, according to general manager Ryan Pace, and Pace said he expects Howard to continue to show progress as a receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Howard isn't likely to morph into a PPR dynamo, but more opportunities to touch the ball can only help his value. He looks like a low-end RB1 candidate for 2018.

Bears | Jordan Howard not available

Sat, 03 Mar 2018 12:10:05 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is not available in a trade, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Howard is coming off a 1,122-yard season in 2017 and should be the starting running back for the Bears next season. He can be a low-end No. 1 running back or a No. 2 back in most fantasy leagues.

Bears | Jordan Howard excited for new offense

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 10:01:10 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard is excited about the Bears' new coaching staff and believes the offense will be more creative under new head coach Matt Nagy.

Fantasy Tip: Howard can succeed with or without offensive creativity as he has 1,217.5 yards and 7.5 touchdowns on the ground in his first two NFL seasons. His passing game production took somewhat of a backseat in 2017 with the emergence of Tarik Cohen, but Howard remains in the RB1 conversation in any scoring format.
