ChicagoBears.com reports Chicago Bears S Larry Whigham has been chosen to participate in the NFL Europe Coaching Program, a joint venture between NFL Player Development and the NFLPA. Whigham will be one of 12 current players working as a coaching intern during NFL Europe training camp in Tampa, Florida, from Feb. 23-March 23.

The Daily Herald reports Chicago Bears S Larry Whigham was fined $5,000 by the NFL for writing 3:16 on his arm during the Philadelphia Eagles game. Whigham plans to appeal the fine. "I told them I play on third down," he said. "On third down, I've got to look up the No. 1 receiver for a six cut. We'll see what happens."

The Sun Times reports Chicago Bears S/special teams player Larry Whigham was fined $5,000 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct in the pre-season finale August 29 at Miami. He leveled Dolphins WR Albert Johnson on an incomplete pass across the middle. After the play he celebrated the hit a little too much for the NFL. Whigham said he will appeal.

Updating an earlier story, the Daily Herald reports Chicago Bears rookie S Bobby Gray moved into the team's starting lineup Wednesday at strong safety in place of the injured Mike Brown. Veteran Larry Whigham remained a backup. S Michael Green is sliding over to Brown's free safety spot. He's a very physical young man. He's worked hard," defensive coordinator Greg Blache said of Gray. "He's progressing; he's coming along. We stuck him in with the first unit and let him go. My impressions on the field were that the kid did a good job."
