Rangers | TEX signs Dillon Tate

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 18:50:37 -0700

The Texas Rangers have signed P Dillon Tate, their first-round selection in the 2015 MLB Draft, to a deal which includes a signing bonus worth $4.2 million. He will report to Class A Spokane, where he will make four or five starts before taking a break. In September, Tate will head to Arizona to pitch in the Fall Instructional League.

Fantasy Tip: Tate, who was drafted fourth overall, is expected to be used as a starter in the minors despite spending time earlier in his collegiate career at UC-Santa Barbara as a reliever. He possesses an upper-90s fastball, as well as a slider and changeup. Fantasy owners in dynasty and long-term keeper leagues should keep him on their radar.

Rangers | Dillon Tate drafted by Texas

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 16:34:02 -0700

University of California-Santa Barbara P Dillon Tate was selected fourth overall by the Texas Rangers in the 2015 MLB Draft Monday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has a fastball that can reach the upper-90s that also has a developing slider and changeup. He spent some time as a reliever earlier in his college career, but he figures to be developed as a starting arm in the minors. It remains to be seen how he projects in the major leagues because of his uncertain role, but his arm is definitely electric.
