Packers | Green Bay to use committee at RB

Mon, 18 Jun 2018 10:25:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers RBs Ty Montgomery, Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will be part of a committee at running back this upcoming season, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy said the team will be able to adjust if one of the running backs shows they can be the full-time starter.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the preseason to see how each running back is used. Montgomery probably is the best receiver out of the three, but Williams and Jones are also decent receivers. All three will have value in fantasy leagues but none will be more than No. 3 running backs unless one takes over the starting job.

Packers | Ty Montgomery to have big role?

Mon, 11 Jun 2018 13:06:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery seems to be set for a big role in 2018, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the offense is suited for Montgomery's skill set and the Packers need to take advantage of that. Nevertheless, McCarthy admitted that he will continue to take a committee approach with the backfield with RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams included.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's backfield will be one of the tougher backfields to figure out this offseason. Each of the three running backs flashed at different points in 2017. They can all bring something to the table, but Jones appears to have the most upside. Either way, none of them should be drafted as higher than an RB2.

Packers | Ty Montgomery bigger

Thu, 12 Apr 2018 06:30:34 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery is bigger and stronger, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Montgomery said he's focused on staying healthy this season.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery is in a make-it-or-break-it year, and he'll have to share the load with Aaron Jones. He'll have some RB5 luster, and if he stays healthy, he could provide bang for that buck.

Packers | Ty Montgomery still considered RB

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 17:01:52 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery is still considered a running back, head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday, Feb. 28, but he could be more of a hybrid back/receiver heading into 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery has had a difficult time staying healthy in his first three NFL seasons, and his health is contingent on his role going in 2018. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams showed what they could do during glimpses of brilliance in 2017, so a hybrid role makes more sense for Montgomery going forward.

Packers | Ty Montgomery could move back to WR

Wed, 14 Feb 2018 07:25:45 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery could move back to wide receiver, according to beat writer Rob Demovsky.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery didn't hold up physically, and he might be the third running back on the roster now. His fantasy value is limited, but it would be higher as a running back.

Packers | Ty Montgomery to undergo surgery

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 17:37:27 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) will need to undergo wrist surgery, which is why he was placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will receive most of the work at running back for the rest of the season. Williams is coming off a terrific Week 12 performance and should receive a majority of the work in Week 13. He can be a No. 2 running back or flex option this week.

Packers | Ty Montgomery lands on IR

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 14:26:59 -0800

The Green Bay Packers placed RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Dec. 1, and signed WR Michael Clark to the active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery has had a multiple-week ribs injury and the team has decided to shut him down. Aaron Jones (knee) is questionable for Week 13, so it might be all Jamaal Williams against the Bucs if Jones cannot go.

Packers | Ty Montgomery out for Week 13

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 08:12:23 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) has been ruled out for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Aaron Jones (knee) could be back, which would cloud Jamaal Williams' stock a bit. If Jones doesn't play, Williams is an RB2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If both play, Williams has the slight edge as a flex play.

Packers | Ty Montgomery remains out

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 11:16:43 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was not able to practice again Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: It will be a surprise if Montgomery takes the field this weekend. Expect to see a good dose of Jamaal Williams again, although Aaron Jones does have a chance to play. If both Montgomery and Jones are out again then Williams is a solid RB2 option.

Packers | Aaron Jones limited, Ty Montgomery full go

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 14:25:06 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, contrary to a previous report, and RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) sat out of practice.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is more likely to play than Montgomery, clearly, but both could be sidelined for another week. If that is the case, Jamaal Williams will be featured again and demand RB2 consideration after a top RB1 performance in Week 12.
