Lions | Ameer Abdullah on the block?

Sun, 15 Apr 2018 12:35:56 -0700

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah would presumably be the easiest running back to move from the roster this offseason because he's in the final season of his rookie contract and his role appears to be less defined than LeGarrette Blount's or Theo Riddick's, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah could never get or stay on the good side of the previous administration in Detroit despite being the clear top back on the roster, and he is not tied to the either the general manager or the head coach in place now. At this point, he would likely benefit from a change of scenery. If he gets dealt this spring or summer, Abdullah could finally live up to his previous fantasy hype if he can find a way to improve his ball security and durability.

Lions | Detroit to use committee backfield

Wed, 11 Apr 2018 10:37:32 -0700

Detroit Lions RBs LeGarrette Blount, Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and others are expected to be used as a committee, according to head coach Matt Patricia. Patricia is a proponent of using a running back's strengths in favorable situations.

Fantasy Tip: Detroit's running game has been stagnant for years now, frustrating fantasy managers. That frustration may not subside with Patricia at the helm. Blount has more upside in standard leagues as the Lions' main touchdown threat, while Riddick possesses RB2 to RB3 upside in PPR formats.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah must produce

Fri, 02 Mar 2018 19:15:44 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah has "three-down value," according to general manager Bob Quinn, but Quinn said he will have to perform well this offseason to "prove himself" to the new coaching staff.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah disappointed as the lead back last season, and even if he breaks camp as the starter, he projects as a RB3.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah goes nowhere fast

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 16:26:48 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah ran six times for 21 yards in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals and he added one grab for five yards on two targets.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah's days as the primary back in Motown appear to be over, as he just hasn't been able to take the job and run with it. Tion Green averaged 6.1 yards per tote and he found the end zone. He might get a long look in Week 17 with the team out of the playoffs, as the team evaluates what it has in Green.

Lions | One carry for Ameer Abdullah

Sat, 16 Dec 2017 18:34:20 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah rushed on time for eight yards and caught three passes for 13 yards in a 20-10 win over the Chicago Bears Saturday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah had a minimal role in his return from a neck injury. He should see more touches going forward, but he is still a desperation flex play.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah on track to play

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 12:20:20 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah has missed the last two games because of the injury but should be in uniform against the Chicago Bears. It is not known if he will regain his starting job but should have a decent role in the offense. He likely will share playing time with Theo Riddick during the game and can be benched if owners have better options.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah fully practices

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 14:48:07 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah is expected to return this week after a multiple-week absence. Unfortunately, he hasn't been much of a factor when healthy this year and will split time with Theo Riddick. Keep Abdullah on your bench.

Lions | Ameer Abdullah expected back

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 08:03:28 -0800

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) is expected to return in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Abdullah may take a backseat to the scorching-hot Theo Riddick against the Chicago Bears, who pose a tough matchup against the RB position. Abdullah is a flex option, but he's far from a sure thing.
