Steelers | Jesse James not on injury report

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 12:25:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 22, and is not in the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: James likely will receive a few targets against the Chicago Bears this week and will be a weapon if the team is close to the end zone. Owners probably can find more consistent options to use in their lineups and can keep James on the bench.

Steelers | Jesse James limited Thursday

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 14:08:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: James was able to return to the Week 2 game after suffering the injury, so he should have a good chance to play this week. He has been targeted 13 times in two games and is a red-zone target for the Steelers, but owners may be able to find better options for their lineups.

Steelers | Jesse James unable to practice

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 13:56:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: James opened with two touchdowns in Cleveland, and he has racked up 10 receptions through two games. Ben Roethlisberger loves to employ his tight end, and as such James is a decent option in most PPR formats when healthy. He has lesser value in standard formats due to his lack of yardage.

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 16:29:18 -0700

Steelers | Jesse James catches two TDs

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 13:29:09 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James caught six passes for 41 yards and two touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: James is still the starting tight end even though the team acquired Vance McDonald and could keep the job moving forward. He could be a No. 2 tight end in some leagues but probably is not a starting option against most opponents.

Steelers | Xavier Grimble a potential starter?

Fri, 23 Jun 2017 18:57:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Xavier Grimble could push TE Jesse James for the starting job if he can become consistent catching the football, according to Bob Labriola of Steelers.com.

Fantasy Tip: With a receiving corps led by Antonio Brown and bolstered by the return of Martavis Bryant and addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster, whoever ends up as Pittsburgh's top tight end should be considered a TE2 for fantasy purposes.

Steelers | Jesse James to be No. 1 tight end

Thu, 18 May 2017 19:00:54 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James will be the "main guy" at the tight end position this year, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Fantasy Tip: Pittsburgh released Ladarius Green and didn't draft a tight end, so the Steelers appear comfortable with James as the top option at the position. He could sneak into TE1 territory.

Steelers | Jesse James struggled with consistency

Thu, 23 Mar 2017 16:25:12 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James failed to register consecutive weeks after the first two games of the 2016 season in which he produced 20 or more receiving yards, despite playing in all 16 contests and starting 13 of them.

Fantasy Tip: James was a sleeper pick by some going into last year but disappointed mightily, as he accumulated only 39 catches for 338 yards and three touchdowns -- with all of those scores occurring in the first five weeks of the campaign. He has no excuse, too, as Ladarius Green missed 10 games, yet James still couldn't capitalize. The 22-year-old can't be trusted in fantasy as long as Green remains in Pittsburgh.
