Updating an earlier story, Michael Eisen, reports for Giants.com, the New York Giants have officially released QB Jim Miller (hip). His release did include an injury settlement. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New York Giants have reached an injury settlement with QB Jim Miller (hip), effectively releasing him from the team. Miller underwent surgery to repair a hip injury last month.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said Friday, May 6 he is concerned about the team's current quarterback situation. Coughlin said backup QB Jim Miller (hip) is doing well after hip surgery. Coughlin added it is going to be some time before Miller is back to 100 percent.

The New York Times reports New York Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi said Thursday, May 5 the team is content to see how QB Jim Miller (hip) recovers from hip surgery before they pursue another veteran QB. Accorsi felt there was no need to rush a decision on the matter. The team has a full-squad minicamp next month and training camp in July. Accorsi said the team was hopeful that Miller would be ready in 12 weeks.

The Star-Ledger reports agent Joe Linta said Tuesday, May 3 the New York Giants informed him they plan to keep QB Jim Miller (hip) on the roster, for now, despite his recent hip surgery. "They're definitely not going to release him. They're definitely not looking for an injury settlement. And he is definitely part of the team as of today," said Linta. Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi would not discuss the team's plans when asked about Linta's comments.

The Star Ledger reports New York Giants backup QB Jim Miller (hip) was in Michigan Monday, May 2 seeking a second opinion on his expected recovery time of three to four months from hip surgery. Agent Joe Linta said Miller had already begun walking around and was pleased with his early progress.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports New York Giants QB Jim Miller (hip) underwent surgery Wednesday, April 27, to repair a torn hip labrum, a procedure that could sideline the veteran quarterback for 3-4 months. The team might be forced to place Miller on Injured Reserve or reach an injury settlement with him. A decision on Miller's future could be made next week.
