Raiders | Jon Gruden hypes up Amari Cooper

Mon, 02 Apr 2018 19:03:08 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden reiterated his plans on WR Amari Cooper being a central figure of the offense this season Monday, April 2, and went one step further by suggesting Cooper reminds him of a "young Tim Brown." "I said it when he came out of Alabama, that he reminded me of a young Tim Brown. He has that type of game speed. He's elusive, and has a wide range of routes he can run. … We're going to make him the main vein of our passing offense and move him around a lot," Gruden said.

Fantasy Tip: Gruden has a history of getting production from his top wideout despite working with different types (Michael Clayton, Joey Galloway, Antonio Bryant, Keenan McCardell and Keyshawn Johnson during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alone). With an injury-plagued season hopefully behind him, Cooper is a prime rebound candidate in 2018 and should be drafted as a low-end WR1.

Raiders | Amari Cooper will be featured

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 10:12:30 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper will be the focal point of Oakland's offense in 2018, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper had a disappointing 2017 campaign, but his talent and potential are undeniable, as Gruden has apparently noticed. If Cooper can stay healthy and if Gruden's words come to fruition, there's no reason why Cooper can't be a No. 1 fantasy wide receiver.

Raiders | Amari Cooper never healthy in 2017?

Fri, 16 Feb 2018 11:08:00 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper battled an assortment of injuries all season, quarterback Derek Carr told Sirius XM Radio on Friday, Feb. 16. "He would never say it to you, but I'll say it to you to have his back. That man was out there giving anything he could and, honestly, a lot of guys probably wouldn't have played with what he had,' Carr said.

Fantasy Tip: This should not come as a surprise, as he began the season with a leg/knee injury before dealing with an ankle issue and concussion late. Cooper played so far below the standard he set in his first two seasons that injuries almost had to play a major role in his disappointing season. Especially with Jon Gruden calling the shots on offense now, Cooper is a prime rebound candidate in 2018.

Raiders | Amari Cooper fully practices

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 16:32:41 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper is coming off a solid Week 16 performance where he posted 66 yards and a touchdown. He will be facing a solid Los Angeles Chargers defense but has a chance to be a No. 3 fantasy receiver for owners.

Raiders | Amari Cooper limited in practice again

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 16:21:02 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Shockingly, Cooper's 66 receiving yards last week were the second-most he's logged in a game this season. He also had a touchdown to go with that, so perhaps the former No. 4 overall draft pick is looking to end his lackluster year strong. If he plays, he has fine WR2 potential in a matchup opposite the Chargers that could feature a healthy amount of points on the scoreboard.

Raiders | Amari Cooper limited

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 16:20:05 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper should be able to play in Week 17 as long as he does not suffer a setback during the week. He has caught a touchdown in three of the last four games and could be a flex option in some fantasy leagues.

Raiders | Amari Cooper finds end zone in Week 16

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 21:22:38 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper caught three of four targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 16 loss Monday, Dec. 25, versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: While he's certainly been having a down year, Cooper actually evened his season high in touchdowns, with tonight's score being his sixth of the campaign. Other than that, Cooper has let everyone down who drafted him as a WR1 or WR2, averaging only a little more than 40 yards per game. He definitely won't be worth an early pick in '18.

Raiders | Amari Cooper ready to play

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 16:19:01 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 16 game.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper had one outstanding game earlier this season but has been quiet for much of the season. He could be a flex option in most leagues, but owners should not expect a big game against a solid Philadelphia Eagles defense.
