Falcons | Tevin Coleman has mixed numbers in Week 3

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 16:01:13 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman carried the ball six times for 46 yards Sunday, Sept. 24, in a 30-26 win over the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman didn't score this week, but he did post similar numbers to that of Week 2. Freeman is definitely the No. 1 back in Atlanta, but Coleman's performance rates him an RB3 or flex option.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman sees eight touches, TD

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 21:53:46 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed six times for 42 yards in Week 2 against the Packers and he added two receptions for three yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman is a decent RB3 or flex fantasy option in PPR formats, but his fantasy appeal is rather limited as long as Devonta Freeman is healthy and seeing a majority of the backfield touches. The Falcons travel to meet the Lions in Week 3.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman totals 58 yards from scrimmage

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 15:35:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed eight times for 16 yards in Week 2 against the Bears and he had four grabs for 42 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman had 12 touches to 14 for Devonta Freeman, so it was almost an even split. However, unless Freeman suffers some sort of injury to keep him out, Coleman is mostly a low-end RB2 in PPR formats and an RB3 or flex option in standard leagues. The Falcons host the Packers in Week 2.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman was highly efficient in 2016

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 18:21:09 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman led all qualifying running backs (at least 120 touches) in overall efficiency in 2016. Coleman ranked first of 42 running backs in aggregate ratings for standard fantasy points per game, scoring efficiency per touch, fantasy points per touch, and PPR fantasy points per touch. He finished third in yards per touch and 13th in PPR fantasy points per game. Coleman scored 11 total times on 149 offensive touches.

Fantasy Tip: A new offensive coordinator is the only noteworthy change for Coleman entering 2017. The Falcons should be in good shape offensively even after losing playcaller Kyle Shanahan. A drop-off can be expected, but Coleman is still a fine RB3/flex in most setups. He does enough of everything -- and well, at that -- to warrant a midround pick in any scoring system.

Falcons | Atlanta boasted best running back duo

Thu, 23 Feb 2017 14:48:20 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RBs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman produced the best numbers of any backfield combination in 2016. Their main production came in the endzone, tallying a combined 24 total touchdowns. Freeman finished with over 1,500 total yards, while Coleman finished just shy of 1,000 total yards.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman will be the main guy going forward, but Coleman deserves credit. Despite backing up Freeman, Coleman ended the season as the RB18, one spot behind Lamar Miller and one spot ahead of Todd Gurley. It's hard to imagine they'll have similar seasons, but they have proven that they can successfully coexist. View Freeman as an RB1 with more value in PPR leagues, while Coleman should be drafted as an RB2.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman played well on the road

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 17:03:15 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed for six of his eight touchdowns on the road this season. He also recorded two of his three receiving touchdowns on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman was not the starting running back this season but received plenty of work in the offense. He probably will have a similar role for the Falcons in 2017 and can be considered a No. 3 in most leagues and a No. 2 running back in some deeper leagues.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman won't need surgery

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 11:14:58 -0800

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) will not need surgery on his injured ankle, according to head coach Dan Quinn. A timetable for Coleman's recovery was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman is wearing a walking boot, as previously reported, but this ailment doesn't appear to be too serious. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks this offseason he should be good to go. He and Devontae Freeman arguably make up the best running back duo in the NFL. Interestingly, they don't damage each other's fantasy value too much. View Coleman as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 for next season.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman in walking boot

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 09:20:40 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) was spotted wearing a walking boot on his left foot Tuesday, Feb. 7. Coleman suffered an apparent ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LI and did not return.

Fantasy Tip: There has been no indication Coleman is dealing with a significant injury, but it is also notable he has yet to be given a timetable for recovery. Barring something unforeseen, he should have no problem being ready for offseason workouts and figures to return to his role as Devonta Freeman's explosive sidekick in Atlanta's offense next season.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman injures ankle

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 18:44:30 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) is questionable to return against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5.

Fantasy Tip: If Coleman can't return, Devonta Freeman should dominate the backfield touches the rest of the way.

Falcons | Atlanta has two complete backs

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 20:12:11 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman and RB Tevin Coleman complement each other well and are both "three-down backs," according to QB Matt Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Both players have established themselves as valuable fantasy contributors. Freeman looks locked in as a RB1, and Coleman is a RB2.
