Updating yesterday's story, Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the one-year contract signed by DT Jason Wiltz with the Chicago Bears is valued at $387,000. Wiltz style fits well with the upfront scheme played by the Bears and he gives defensive coordinator Greg Blache another big body to add to the front four mix.

Updating last week's story, the Miami Herald reports the Miami Dolphins worked out free agent DTs Tim Morabito and Tom Brandt on Monday. The team is still looking to add a DT to their roster. The Dolphins previously looked at Ryan Hale, Henry Taylor and Jason Wiltz and may soon sign one of those five players.

Rich Cimini reports for the New York Daily News New York Jets rookie DT James Reed looks to have won the team's starting spot at nose tackle. Coach Herman Edwards announced the starting assignment on Friday as the team's hierarchy huddled to shape the final roster. Edwards said Jason Wiltz or Maurice Anderson will be released today, when the Jets make their final cuts. The Jets are looking for an experienced nose tackle, but there were no trade talks as of late yesterday, according to Edwards. On the free agent market are Cortez Kennedy, whom the Jets say they have no interest and Ernie Logan is available, but he hasn't heard from the team recently.

The NY Daily News reports the New York Jets may soon find themselves looking for a new nose tackle. "No one has really stepped to the forefront and said, 'I'm going to be the guy,'" said coach Herman Edwards. The team seems more impressed with rookie James Reed than starter Jason Wiltz. Maurice Anderson, who started the first two games, isn't even a lock to make the team.
