Giants | Matt Duffy with three more hits

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 17:17:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in a 7-5 win over the Colorado Rockies Saturday, June 27, and he has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has 10 RBI and 11 runs scored during the stretch, and he has been improving every month. He has been providing great value for the price at FantasyScore, and he could have another solid game Sunday when Colorado starts Kyle Kendrick, who owns an ugly 5.96 ERA on the year.

Giants | Matt Duffy batting third vs. Friars

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 15:44:05 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy is batting third against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) receives a nice fantasy boost batting higher in the lineup, and he could stick there if he has success. Nori Akoi's (leg) move to the disabled list has shuffled up the Giants lineup. Continue to check back for lineup updates over the next few days until the San Francisco lineup becomes more permanent.

Giants | Matt Duffy swinging the bat

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 00:19:36 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy had two hits Wednesday, June 17, against the Seattle Mariners. Duffy is now 5 for 8 in his previous two games.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap), whose average improved to .294, looks like he is settling in fairly well at third base following Casey McGehee's departure. He's swinging a decent bat now, but keep an eye on his matchups before sinking some FantasyScore money into him.

Giants | Casey McGehee to receive a start

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 14:52:06 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee will receive a start at third base during the team's series against the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend. 3B Matt Duffy will remain the starting third baseman for the time being.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee likely will be a bench player for now but could push Duffy ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) for the third base job if he plays well. McGehee should not be a fantasy option at this point but could be an option if he produces at the plate.

Giants | Matt Duffy hitting fifth against Bucs

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 11:01:15 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy is hitting fifth in the batting order against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Wednesday, June 3.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has earned the starting third base job this year, but with everyday at-bats, his average has fallen to .278 (37-for-133), and he has only three home runs and 22 RBI. Duffy is a low-end third base commodity at FantasyScore without much power.

Giants | Casey McGehee cut

Sun, 24 May 2015 11:34:18 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have designated 3B Casey McGehee for assignment. As a result, 3B Matt Duffy will take over as the club's everyday third baseman.

Fantasy Tip: After driving in 76 runs for the Marlins last year, McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hit just .200 this season with two home runs and nine RBIs in 35 games. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) can be viewed as a low-cost flier in FantasyScore and is worth picking up in NL-only fantasy leagues.

Giants | Casey McGehee out again

Fri, 22 May 2015 14:29:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Friday, May 22. SS Matt Duffy is batting eighth and starting at third base Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He is currently sporting a .524 OPS and has just seven runs and nine RBI. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests Friday, and he receives a slight boost with the game being played a hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Giants | Joe Panik taking day off

Thu, 21 May 2015 10:24:27 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at the keystone and hitting second in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has been surprisingly productive for the Giants this year as a utility player, driving in 16 runs. However, you should see him as a weak play Thursday afternoon against the reigning NL Cy Young.

Giants | Casey McGehee taking day off

Wed, 20 May 2015 16:15:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 20. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at third base and hitting eighth in the batting order against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has made the most of his opportunities this year and is batting .300 (24-for-80) with a home run and a surprising 16 RBI for the Gigantes. However, he hasn't found much success against lefties, and his placement at the bottom of the order says to skip him at FantasyScore.

Giants | Matt Duffy and Casey McGehee to rotate

Tue, 12 May 2015 16:47:52 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Matt Duffy and 3B Casey McGehee will rotate games at third base, according to manager Bruce Bochy. "I've talked about Duffy being a super utility guy ... I'm going to mix in both out there," Bochy said. "I like Duffy when he's out there. He's also a nice weapon to have off the bench," said Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 6-for-11 with two outs and runners in scoring position this season. McGehee is just 6-for 36 in his last 11 games and is batting a paltry .175 on the season. Neither player has much value in standard season-long leagues, and both come with a high risk of posting a zero on FantasyScore.
