Tigers | Anibal Sanchez injury update

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 18:49:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) left the game early Friday, Aug. 8, because of a right pectoral strain. He will be reevaluated Saturday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: There appears to be a good chance that Sanchez will need to go on the 15-day disabled list because of the injury. The team could consider recalling Drew VerHagen or Robbie Ray from the minor leagues if Sanchez is sidelined. Both are probably only options in AL-only leagues.

Tigers | Drew VerHagen to start Saturday

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 18:32:25 -0700

The Detroit Tigers will recall SP Drew VerHagen from Triple-A Toledo to start Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians Saturday, July 19. It will be his major league debut. General manager Dave Dombrowski said VerHagen "has thrown well for us recently."

Fantasy Tip: VerHagen's stay in the majors will be brief and his fantasy value is negligible. Unless you're absolutely desperate for a fantasy starter in the shortened week, avoid.
