The Chicago Tribune reports Chicago Bears Safety and special-teams ace Larry Whigham (hamstring) and DT Robert Newkirk (knee) did not practice today, and both are not expected to play Sunday.

The Daily Southtown, as an update to previous stories, reports Chicago Bears starting LT Blake Brockermeyer (knee) and LG Rex Tucker (shoulder) practiced Friday, for the first time this week. Both have been upgraded to probable for Sunday's game. As previously reported, DT Robert Newkirk is expected to miss tomorrow's game.

The Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's John Clayton, have downgraded DT Robert Newkirk (knee) to doubtful and moved DT Alfonso Boone ahead of him on the tackle rotation. OG Rex Tucker has been upgraded to probable and is expected to play.

The Chicago Bears have declared CB Reggie Austin, T Bernard Robertson, DT Robert Newkirk, G Mike Gandy, T Damion Cook, TE Dustin Lyman and DE Joe Tafoya. QB Danny Wuerffel is the team's emergency QB.

Updating an earlier story, Fred Mitchell reports for the Chicago Tribune Chicago Bears backup DT Robert Newkirk tore cartilage in his left knee during a pass-rushing drill Thursday. As previously reported, he underwent arthroscopic surgery Friday afternoon. He is now expected to miss two games. DL Alfonso Boone is expected to see more playing time with Newkirk out.

ESPN's John Clayton reports Chicago Bears DT Robert Newkirk (knee), a backup, was added to the injury report on Friday because of a knee injury. He's undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery this afternoon.

DTs Robert Newkirk (left ankle) and Henry Taylor (left groin) both have nagging injuries suffered in Saturday's game. RB James Allen (left ankle) sat out another day of practice but coach Dick Jauron said he may return on Wednesday.
