Buccaneers | Cameron Brate drops a couple

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 19:22:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate dropped a pass that led to an interception and dropped another pass that would have been a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Brate is trying to secure the starting tight end job, but Austin Seferian-Jenkins could also land the gig. Seferian-Jenkins has the much higher ceiling and is worth a late-round pick if he enters Week 1 as the starter.

Buccaneers | Seferian-Jenkins back on first team again

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 15:27:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has "earned the right" to share first-team reps with TE Cameron Brate again, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Fantasy Tip: Brate hasn't done much this preseason, while ASJ has generally blocked well and caught all five of his targets, suggesting the former may be on his way to delivering on his vast potential. If Seferian-Jenkins has finally "figured it out", he has high-end TE1 upside. He's well worth a late-round gamble in all fantasy drafts.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate the starter

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 08:30:48 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate is the starting tight end over TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins because Brate is making plays and has improved his run blocking.

Fantasy Tip: ASJ showed flashes, but his health and consistency have been problems. Brate probably doesn't have as much upside in fantasy as ASJ would, and he's a low-end TE2 right now.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate bulking up

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 20:29:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate said he added about five pounds of muscle since spring practices in order to improve his blocking and become a complete tight end.

Fantasy Tip: The needle continues to point up for Brate, and if he can take the starting gig away from Austin Seferian-Jenkins, he will warrant consideration in two-tight end leagues.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate a red zone weapon

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 09:37:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate emerged as a favorite target of QB Jameis Winston last year, and head coach Dirk Koetter has been impressed with the tight end in the red zone this offseason. Brate caught 23 passes for 288 yards last year and scored three touchdowns when TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was injured. Brate will battle with Seferian-Jenkins for a starting position in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: ASF is the superior athlete and incumbent starter, but his offseason didn't get off on the right foot, as he was dismissed from a practice last week by Koetter for not knowing what he was doing on offense. Brate has a real chance to make some noise and gain starter reps, so you may want to downgrade Seferian-Jenkins for now as more of a TE2. Stay tuned.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate earns praise from coach

Sat, 26 Mar 2016 17:12:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate exceeded expectations in the absence of an injured TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins in 2015, finishing with 288 yards and three touchdowns on 23 receptions. "Cam is an ascending player and our hope for him is that he takes it and runs with it. That's what you want. It would be a great story and great for our team," head coach Dirk Koetter said.

Fantasy Tip: Brate is someone to keep an eye on going forward if Seferian-Jenkins continues to struggle with injuries, as he showed obvious chemistry with Jameis Winston last season. Short of another injury-marred campaign from Seferian-Jenkins, however, the former undrafted free agent will do more to occasionally chip away at ASJ's value than become a fantasy force. Owners can ignore him in all but the deepest leagues.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate could be name to watch

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 11:21:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht likes TE Cameron Brate as a potential breakout candidate in 2016. Brate had 23 catches for 288 yards and four touchdowns last year.

Fantasy Tip: Austin Seferian-Jenkins is Tampa's leading tight end, so Brate will be overshadowed again to begin the season. However, with ASF playing only 16 games in his first two seasons, Brate is one to watch in fantasy circles should their starter go down to injury again.

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins not being rushed

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 16:45:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) remains uncertain for the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons. TEs Cameron Brate, Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker has combined for just 11 catches, 95 yards and zero touchdowns on 16 targets in Seferian-Jenkins' absence. However, the Bucs aren't rushing Seferian-Jenkins back into action if he's not ready.

Fantasy Tip: Seferian-Jenkins ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) could be a game-time decision this week against Atlanta after being limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday. Considering what he did in Week 1 (five catches, 110 yards and two touchdowns), he'd certainly be attractive as a value play on FantasyScore against a Falcons team allowing 16.1 fantasy points per game to the position this year.

Buccaneers | ASF injury opens up playing time

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 11:35:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TEs Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker will take the majority of snaps at tight end with TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) sidelined. Myers is the better pass-catcher, while Stocker is more of a blocking tight end. TE Cameron Brate was also elevated to the active roster.

Fantasy Tip: Myers ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Stocker ($2,000) are both extremely deep sleepers for daily gamers. If you're going to gamble on one of them, Myers should be your pick.
