Falcons | Taylor Gabriel gets second-round tender

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:42:04 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel received a second-round tender Wednesday, March 8.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel carved a niche last season and vaulted himself into the boom-or-bust fantasy picture. Reminiscent of Percy Harvin in years past, Gabriel has game-breaking ability and can be a low-target, high-scoring potential commodity. He's a WR4 that could have upside for more in fantasy.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel tendered

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 10:10:14 -0800

The Atlanta Falcons placed a second-round tender on restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel at $2.81 million Friday, March 3, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel famously was cut loose by the Cleveland Browns prior to last season, only to emerge as a much-needed big-play threat for the Falcons' top-ranked scoring offense. The second-round tender will almost certainly keep them in Atlanta. Even with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan now in San Francisco, Gabriel should enter 2017 as a fantasy WR4.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will receive tender

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 14:33:30 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel will receive a tender offer this offseason, but general manager Thomas Dimitroff would not disclosed the level of the tender.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel is coming off a terrific 2016 season and could receive a multi-year deal this offseason. He should continue to be used in the slot and will be a No. 3 receiver for the Falcons next season. He can be a No. 3 or No. 4 receiver for fantasy owners.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel wants to stay in Atlanta

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 14:48:53 -0800

Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent WR Taylor Gabriel said he wants to be a Falcon "forever." The Falcons also want their deep-threat receiver to stay. If the Falcons really want him back, they'll be able to place a high tender on Gabriel, forcing other prospective teams to have to surrender a first- or second-round pick in order to sign him. General manager Thomas Dimitroff said last week that a priority heading into free agency will be to re-sign Atlanta's free agents. The Falcons are expected to place a second-round tender worth around $2.8 million. A first-round tender would be worth around $4 million.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was a pleasant surprise for the Falcons in 2016 after being cut by the Cleveland Browns. The speedy deep threat really opened up the field for Atlanta and helped force some of the opposition's attention away from Julio Jones. That being said, Gabriel "only" managed 579 yards and six touchdowns. If he does re-sign he'll likely remain the No. 3 receiver behind Jones and Mohamed Sanu, so don't view him as more than a mid- to late-round option in standard drafts.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel a non-factor

Sun, 22 Jan 2017 16:52:27 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught two balls for 24 yards Sunday, Jan. 22, in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel had played a nice complementary role for fantasy lineups over the second half of the season, so this was disappointing for DFS gamers. His role is matchup-driven and also based on injuries to those around him, which means he's a high-risk investment in 2017 drafts.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel not on injury report

Fri, 20 Jan 2017 13:14:22 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 20, and is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel should be able to handle his normal workload against the Green Bay Packers even though he has dealt with the injury over the last few weeks. He should see a decent amount of targets during the game and can be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel still limited

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 14:05:59 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 19.

Fantasy Tip: That's back-to-back limited practices for Gabriel so far this week. He should be able to play as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. Julio Jones hasn't practiced yet this week, so Gabriel could see more action if Jones doesn't play or is limited at all (expect him to play). Gabriel is not a bad cheap play in daily contests in what has the makings of a shootout with the Green Bay Packers.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will be limited

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 11:26:22 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) will be limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was able to play in the Divisional round game and should be ready for the NFC Championship game this week. He has been targeted at least six times in four of the last five games and can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel finishes with 71 yards

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 18:21:52 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught four of his six targets for 71 yards in a 36-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: There are a lot of mouths to feed in Atlanta's offense, but Gabriel's ability to turn a few catches into a bunch of yards has made him a quality fantasy starter.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel likely will play

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 14:23:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 13, and is not on the injury report for the Divisional round playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has been a contributor for fantasy owners this season and should receive a decent amount of targets during the playoff game this week. Gabriel can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option for fantasy owners.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel a full participant

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 08:06:17 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) practiced fully Friday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was a bigger part of the offense down the stretch, but some of that can be attributed to Julio Jones' (toe) injury. Jones is back, and Gabriel is a flex option against the Seattle Seahawks.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel the total package

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 20:18:46 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel is an "every-down receiver," according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Gabriel said he wants to show he is more than just a deep threat.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has emerged as a big-play weapon in Atlanta's offense, notching six touchdowns in his final eight games. Consider him a high-upside WR3 in the divisional round.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel logs full practice again

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 15:24:05 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (knee) logged his second straight full practice session on Thursday, Jan. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Despite missing Atlanta's regular season finale a couple of weeks ago, it looks like Gabriel will have no issues suiting up on Saturday. Given his mostly sizzling run to cap the campaign, the former Cleveland Brown could be a sneaky WR3 play in any format. Prior to missing Week 17, Gabriel registered 60 or more receiving yards in four of his previous six contests, while also finding the end zone five times over that span. Give him a look.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel practices Wednesday

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 14:25:52 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has received two weeks to rest his foot and appears to be on track to play in the Divisional Round. He should receive a solid amount of targets during the game but should only be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option because of the tough matchup.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel expected to practice

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 15:19:16 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) is expected to participate in practice this week, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel probably will be limited this week so the team can give him extra time to recover from his foot injury. Gabriel should see a decent amount of targets in the Divisional round playoff game and could be a flex option in daily fantasy leagues next week.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel may return soon

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 11:47:59 -0800

Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) is not dealing with a long-term injury. Quinn said Gabriel tried to prepare for Week 17 but was not healthy enough to play.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel appears to have a decent chance to be ready for the playoffs, so owners should keep an eye on his practice participation over the next few weeks. Mohamed Sanu may receive more targets with Gabriel out and can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in Week 17.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel ruled out for Week 17

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 10:37:57 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) will not play in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: There's no indication Gabriel is dealing with a serious injury, so he's likely being rested for the playoffs. The Cleveland Browns castoff ends his regular season with 35 catches for 579 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 51 yards and one score. Julio Jones should be set up for a huge game in Week 17 in a game that will affect playoff positioning for the Falcons.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will be limited

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 10:44:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) will be a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 29, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel appears to have a decent chance to play in Week 17, but owners should monitor the situation. He has caught two touchdowns in the last three games and has been targeted at least five times in six of the last seven games. He can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option if he is active.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:46:05 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel posted just three receptions for 15 yards in the Week 16 game against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel's production was limited, and his targets down thanks to the return of Julio Jones and the fact Mohamed Sanu is getting healthy again down the stretch.

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 14:38:34 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has been a solid fantasy contributor over the last several weeks, but it is not known if he will lose any targets with Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu in the lineup. He should still have a decent role in the offense and can be a No. 3 receiver in leagues.

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 16:16:08 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has been a great fantasy option for owners over the last month and has recorded five touchdowns in the last five games. He has also recorded at least 60 yards in four of the last five games. Gabriel can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel able to finish game

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 22:43:42 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (shoulder) left the Week 15 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a shoulder injury, but he was able to return and finish out. He posted three receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has five touchdowns over the past five games, and seven scores (six receiving, one rushing) over the past seven outings. He has emerged as a must-start WR2 in most fantasy leagues, but his targets could take a hit once Julio Jones is ready to return.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel leads the way

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 05:37:04 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel had three catches for 82 yards and a touchdown Sunday, Dec. 11, against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons really spread the ball around with Julio Jones (toe) out and an ineffective running game. Eight different players caught passes, but Gabriel was the most effective. He's less of a risk in non-PPR leagues, but he continues to be a legit WR3.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel catches five passes

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 15:13:12 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught five passes for 44 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has been targeted at least five times in each of the last four games and appears to have a solid role in the passing game. He has three touchdowns in the last three games and can be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel drawing rave reviews

Tue, 29 Nov 2016 09:06:13 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel has been "great for us this year" and a "sparkplug" for the offense, according to QB Matt Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel hasn't seen more than five targets in a game all season, but it is getting harder to dismiss by the week. Over the last five weeks in PPR scoring (with his bye week included), the Cleveland Browns castoff is 13th among receivers in total fantasy points and seventh in fantasy points per game. In standard leagues, those ranks are sixth and second, respectively. Despite his consistent lack of volume, he has earned the right to be considered a flex option in all leagues at the very least.

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught four passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12. He also rushed for 27 yards on one carry during the game.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons have not had a great No. 2 option behind Julio Jones, but Gabriel could fill that spot after his Week 12 performance. He likely will have a solid role in the passing game moving forward and can be at least a flex option in deeper leagues.

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 18:32:26 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel only converted one of his five touches for a catch in the Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it was a big play. He posted a 76-yard touchdown, the team's only visit to the end zone in the loss.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has emerged as a playmaker in the Atlanta offense, scoring in three consecutive games. He is garnering attention in TD-only leagues and some deeper fantasy formats. However, the Falcons are off in Week 11 due to a bye.

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel said offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan installed running plays for him before Week 8 but didn't call any until the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel has emerged as an effective No. 3 option in the passing game for Atlanta the last two weeks. He is worth stashing in deeper formats, and he is an intriguing low-priced option in DFS games.
