After trainers attended to him for several minutes, Riley was able to get up and walk off the field with assistance.

The Chicago Tribune's John Mullin reports the 2001 edition of the Chicago Bears may be better suited for games on astroturf and this week they play one of only three appearances this year on turf. "I love it. I love it," said rookie DE Karon Riley, who as a Minnesota Golden Gopher played home games in the Metrodome. Their speed on both sides of the ball has improved and they hope to exploit that speed on Sunday when they play the Falcons. Overall, the Bears team that faces the Falcons at the Georgia Dome appears significantly better prepared for this trip than its last visit in 1998.

The team's official site reports Chicago Bears RB Skip Hicks had a good game in his bid to wrap up a roster spot at RB. He stood out by rushing for 44 yards on 13 carries, catching four passes for 22 yards and averaging 30.5 yards on two kickoff returns. Rookie WR David Terrell registered a game-high six receptions for 49 yards. Rookie DE Karon Riley had 2.5 of the Bears five sacks. QB Shane Matthews completed 4 of 6 passes for 62 yards including a 39-yarder down the right sideline to diving WR Dez White. Matthews saw limited action. CB R.W. McQuarters and Hicks appeared to cement roster spots tonight.

He limped off the field without assistance and will be reevaluated Friday afternoon.
