Giants | Orleans Darkwa bottled up in loss

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 17:37:09 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa was limited to 29 yards on 10 rushes in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys and he added two catches for 15 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: The starting job for Darkwa appears to be slipping away, as rookie Wayne Gallman is coming on and gaining a lot of confidence. Darkwa averaged just 2.9 yards per rush in Week 14, while Gallman was good for 4.9 yards per tote. At this point Darkwa is only worth using as a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option in deeper leagues heading into Week 15.

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 13:54:20 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed for 29 yards on 10 carries against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. He also caught two passes for 15 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has been the starter for most of the season but may be sharing playing time with Wayne Gallman moving forward. He will be facing a tough Philadelphia Eagles defense in Week 15 and could be benched if owners have better options.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa active for Week 14

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 08:58:44 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (illness) is active for Week 14's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has collected just 70 all-purpose yards over the last two games and could lose some playing time to Wayne Gallman and Paul Perkins this afternoon. At best, Darkwa should be considered a low-end RB2 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa likely to play

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 06:29:35 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (illness) is expected to play in Week 14's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa returned to practice on a limited basis Friday, Dec. 8, and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should be viewed as nothing more than a low-end RB2 or flex option in most fantasy leagues, although it remains to be seen if the head coaching change will impact his role in the Giants' offense.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa limited in practice

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 14:25:02 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (illness) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and he is considered questionable for Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa is a little under the weather, while Wayne Gallman (hip) was removed from the injury report and Paul Perkins is also available. There is a new regime with the G-Men, too, so perhaps they'll go another way. Darkwa's questionable status, the health of the others and the new coaching staff make Darkwa a risky fantasy proposition on Sunday.

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 13:57:29 -0800

Giants | Orleans Darkwa 50-50 for Week 14

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 11:42:21 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (illness) is listed as questionable for Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa returned to practice Friday after sitting out Thursday, suggesting he is going to be fine to go Sunday. The 25-year-old back has seen double-digit carries in each of his last five games, but he is an average NFL talent running behind a poor line, so he doesn't possess a ton of fantasy. In most leagues, he's a RB3/flex option at best.

Giants | No practice for Orleans Darkwa

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 11:46:27 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (illness) was not able to practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: The exact illness wasn't disclosed, but players are usually able to recover from sickness in time for games. Darkwa has scored twice in two weeks, but he is only averaging 45.3 rushing yards per game over that span. View him as a low-end RB2 or flex.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa punches one in

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:17:20 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed 14 times for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has tailed off in the yardage department over the past two games, but he has two rushing scores across the past three outings. He remains a useful RB3 or flex fantasy play as long as he is getting a majority of the touches in the New York backfield.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa bottled up

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 21:23:06 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa carried 11 times for 30 yards and caught one pass for nine yards in a 20-10 loss to the Washington Redskins Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa had rushed for at least 70 yards in three straight games prior to tonight's outing, and he remains a potential flex option as the lead back for the Giants.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa remains limited

Tue, 21 Nov 2017 14:32:04 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has played OK since taking over starting duties in New York's backfield. He has averaged 16 carries two catches over his last five games, so the opportunities are there to produce. Darkwa has only scored once in that span, but he is an RB2 candidate as long as he is seeing that many touches.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa limited Monday

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 13:38:57 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (hamstring) was limited in practice Monday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has strung some solid games together since taking over New York's lead backfield role. The Giants do have a short week as they play Thursday night, but Darkwa should be able to take the field barring any setbacks and remains an RB2 option going forward.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa reaches end zone

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:45:22 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. He also caught two passes for 16 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has rushed for at least 70 yards in each of the last three games and likely will keep the starting job for the rest of the season. He can be a low-end No. 2 running back or flex option in all standard leagues.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa totals 88 yards

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 19:41:47 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed 14 times for 70 yards in the Week 10 game against the San Francisco 49ers while tacking on 18 yards on a pair of receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has emerged as a solid RB3 or flex option in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. The Giants host the Chiefs in a difficult matchup in Week 11.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa rushes for 71 yards

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 13:54:21 -0800

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9. He also caught two passes for eight yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa bounced back after a disappointing Week 7 performance and looks to be the team's starting running back moving forward. He can be a flex option for owners next week against the San Francisco 49ers.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa has surprise outing

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 04:55:21 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa gained 117 yards on 21 carries in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Where did this come from? That's the question many fantasy owners probably ask Monday morning. It's tempting to pick up Darkwa, considering the Broncos only gave up over 50 yards rushing a game prior to this. However, one performance does not make a player. See if Darkwa can do this more often before you take a flyer.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa not on injury report

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 19:46:17 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (calf) is not on the team's injury report for their Week 6 game Sunday, Oct. 15, versus the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This means Darkwa should be able to suit up after hurting his calf this past Sunday, but he'll be in a matchup that no owner should want any part of. The Broncos have the league's best rush defense, and with Wayne Gallman likely lined up for the majority of work, that makes Darkwa a tough start in any league. He only deserves consideration in the deepest of formats.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa injures calf

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 14:22:51 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (calf) suffered a calf injury on his touchdown run in the Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa is a fan favorite, and he does some impressive things to make him attractive from a fantasy perspective. However, he has been banged up with a back injury, and now this calf issue. He is only worth fantasy attention in deeper formats at this point.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa receives start

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 08:54:32 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa will be the starting running back against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has been named the starter for this week but will be sharing work with Wayne Gallman and Shane Vereen during the game. Darkwa could be considered a flex option in deeper leagues but owners should not expect a big performance from him.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa ready for Week 5

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 14:57:56 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (back) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 6, and has been removed from the injury report ahead of Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa will be battling Wayne Gallman for touches in the New York backfield with Paul Perkins ruled out. He is still only worth a look in deeper fantasy formats and as a low-priced DFS option.

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (back) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Giants | No practice for Orleans Darkwa on Wednesday

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 09:34:19 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (back) was limited to riding a stationary bike and did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa already shouldn't be on fantasy rosters in most leagues and is only a bit relevant due to how poorly Paul Perkins has started the season. With the exception of perhaps Shane Vereen in deeper PPR leagues, owners should avoid this backfield until further notice.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa totals eight touches

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 16:31:20 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa rushed seven times for 22 yards in Week 3 against the Eagles and he added one catch for 11 yards on his only target. He left in the second half due to a back injury.

Fantasy Tip: The fan favorite had a 20-yard scamper, but he was mostly stacked up the rest of his attempts. He and rookie Paul Perkins continue to give the Giants nothing in the run game. Perkins might be worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues if Darkwa is unable to play due to the back injury he suffered.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa getting first-team run

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 12:52:41 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa has been splitting first-team reps with Paul Perkins and seeing even more work than usual with Shane Vereen unavailable recently. According to the New York Daily News' Pat Leonard, Darkwa appears to be challenging for a feature role.

Fantasy Tip: Perkins is not an elite NFL feature back, but he certainly brings more ability to the table than Darkwa. It is highly unlikely Darkwa will do much more than take a few early-down snaps from Perkins. Vereen is more of a threat to Perkins' overall playing time, assuming the former can stay healthy. The Giants seem to want a committee backfield, so it will be Perkins to achieve much more than RB4 production.

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 07:18:38 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa worked extensively with the first-team offense Tuesday, June 13.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa is behind Paul Perkins and Shane Vereen on the depth chart, but he could carve at least a modest role. He's on the RB5 horizon.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa sharp in loss

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 19:42:15 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa made the start in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Oct. 3. He ran 12 times for 48 yards and a touchdown. He was also targeted twice in the pass game but did not have any receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa has been one of the most impressive backs in the preseason and into the regular season for Big Blue. If he continues to start he might be worth a look as a low-end RB2 going forward.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa to have big role

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 06:08:03 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa is likely to split the load with RB Bobby Rainey in Week 4 with RB Rashad Jennings (thumb) likely out.

Fantasy Tip: Darkwa rushed 10 times for 53 yards and a score last week. He should see the majority of carries between the tackles, but he faces a stout Minnesota Vikings defense. He's a flex option this week in fantasy.

Giants | Orleans Darkwa playing catch-up

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 19:21:53 -0700

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (leg) missed the entire spring practice sessions due to a lower leg injury, and that set him back in the pecking order among the team's tailbacks. He is expected to battle RB Andre Williams for the No. 3 job, while RB Bobby Rainey is also in the mix. The team invested a fifth round pick on RB Paul Perkins, so he is expected to make the team, too.

Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 3 job will be behind Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen on the depth chart, so they can mostly be avoided in all fantasy leagues initially.

Giants | Andre Williams fighting for spot?

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:35:03 -0700

New York Giants RBs Andre Williams and Orleans Darkwa are likely competing with each other for a roster spot, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

Fantasy Tip: Williams hasn't played to his full potential in his first two seasons, but he did have a solid rookie campaign two years ago. Darkwa hasn't really done much in New York, and he may be the odd man out. Williams is the more intriguing fantasy option, but even he should be viewed as a late-round flier.

Giants | Victor Cruz taking it slow

Mon, 23 May 2016 09:56:46 -0700

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (knee, calf) and RB Orleans Darkwa (leg) were both working on the side with trainers during practice Monday, May 23. The Giants continue to take it slow with Cruz.

Fantasy Tip: Cruz's major knee injury is concerning. He's played in only six games in the last two years and will probably never be the same receiver he once was. The Giants drafted Sterling Shepard to make an immediate impact in the passing game because of the uncertainty surrounding Cruz. Consider Cruz a very risky fantasy asset moving forward as a late-round flier.
