Washington Redskins DL Phillip Daniels was critical that DL Albert Haynesworth is not attending the team's voluntary offseason workouts, according to Mike Wise, of The Washington Post. "It says this is voluntary, but for us, what we went through last season after a 4-12 season, it's mandatory," Daniels said. "He should definitely be here. And it's a shame he's not." Daniels added he believes Haynesworth can play at defensive end in the team's new 3-4 scheme. "From what I'm told, he can play the end spot," Daniels said. "I've called him and told him that. The thing is, we have 100 percent participation if he is here. It's now 99. He's got to be here."

As a result, Rabach will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2009 season. He will join QB Jason Campbell, CB Carlos Rogers, LB Rocky McIntosh and DE Phillip Daniels as the team's only starters headed towards unrestricted free agency.

My goal is to win a championship, and I think he can help us do that."

David Elfin, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins DE Demetric Evans, who is an impending free agent, said he would like to re-sign with the Redskins but wants to sign with a team that will give him the chance to start. "I've proven I can start in one of the toughest divisions in football. I don't want to be a backup anymore. I started in 2005 at tackle when [DT Cornelius Griffin] was hurt, and I started at end when [DE Phillip Daniels] was hurt in 2004 and again last year. I want to stay in Washington, but I want to be a starter," Evans said. The Redskins are expected to meet with Evans' agent at the NFL Combine to discuss his future with the team.

"I kind of felt like they missed me last year against the run. I know I can help the team out and can play all the spots along the line. ... They've expressed interest in bringing me back, and I've talked to [owner Dan Snyder] and [defensive coordinator Greg Blache], but we'll see what happens," Phillips said. He also said he will be 100 percent healthy for training camp.

He suffered the injury during the team's first practice while trying to jump over a teammate. According to a source, the preliminary MRI indicated ACL damage and potentially additional problems, which would likely cost him the 2008 season.

The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins DL Phillip Daniels joined a powerlifting team during the offseason. In March, Daniels won his weight class with a 633-pound squat and a 600-pound dead lift. The team has excused him from offseason workouts so he can stay with the powerlifting team.
