Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall is very confident that he can fill in for LB Danny Trevathan (knee) at the weakside linebacker spot. Marshall is expected to line up with the starters on defense in practice Thursday, Aug. 14. He'll be first in line to replace Trevathan, with LBs Lamin Barrow and Corey Nelson next in line. Marshall was promoted to the active roster last year when LB Von Miller went down with an injury. When the Broncos have lined up the second-team nickel package, it's been Barrow and Marshall at the two linebacker spots.

Denver Broncos LB Corey Nelson signed with the team Monday, June 2. Nelson is Denver's first draft-pick signee. Per NFL rules, all rookie contracts are four years in length. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Denver Broncos LB Corey Nelson (pectoral) said he is fully healthy after dealing with a pectoral injury. Nelson said he was surprised to be drafted after not having a combine invite.

Denver Broncos head coach John Fox believes LBs Lamin Barrow and Corey Nelson are both capable of playing middle or weakside linebacker. Barrow and Nelson will compete for playing time in the offseason program and training camp.
