Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston signed his rookie contract with the Buccaneers Friday, May 1. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston already causing trouble?

Fri, 01 May 2015 09:31:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston was encouraged by the team to remove a photo on his Instagram account that showed him in front of a plate of Alaskan king crab legs. Winston had a civil lawsuit against him in college after leaving a grocery store without paying for $34 worth of crab legs and crawfish.

Fantasy Tip: While Winston may have been a risky No. 1 overall pick by the Bucs, he enters his rookie season with plenty of weapons on offense to at least give him a chance to be serviceable down the stretch as a weak QB2 to back up a stud fantasy quarterback.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston selected first overall

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 15:36:15 -0700

lorida State QB Jameis Winston was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft Thursday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Winston will immediately compete for the starting quarterback role with the Bucs this summer, and his direct competition will be Mike Glennon. Winston is the most pro-ready QB in this draft, but he'll surely have his ups and downs with the Bucs in his rookie season. In fantasy circles, he's a weak QB2 in yearly formats.

NFL | Jameis Winston compared to QB bust

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 14:57:40 -0700

Florida State QB Jameis Winston has been compared to former NFL QB JaMarcus Russell by one longtime NFL executive. "Lack of focus by JaMarcus is what I see in Winston," the personnel man said. "They're physically talented, but during the course of a game they kind of lose their focus and just put the ball up for grabs. I see the body. I see the lack of focus. I see the same coach and system. Only Winston's not as good an athlete and his arm isn't as strong as JaMarcus'."

Fantasy Tip: Winston is believed to be the leading candidate to be selected first overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, but he will enter the league with some off-field issues. Winston likely will compete for the starting job but likely will only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season.

NFL | Jameis Winston talks crab-legs incident

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 09:31:52 -0700

Florida State QB Jameis Winston said he was given the crab legs by a supermarket employee in Florida last year and did not steal the items. Winston said he had received other free things from the store during that time.

Fantasy Tip: Winston will be entering the NFL with some off-field problems but still appears to be the top choice for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the first overall pick in the draft. Winston likely will have a good chance to win the starting job but probably will not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Updating a previous report, Florida State QB Jameis Winston's workout with the New York Jets has been canceled.

Fantasy Tip: Winston has a lot of physical tools and is expected to be among the top picks in the 2015 NFL Draft. He'll be a mid-to-low QB2 in fantasy leagues this season.

Titans | Jameis Winston in play for Titans

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 09:19:41 -0700

Florida State QB Jameis Winston would be "in play" for the Tennessee Titans at No. 2 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass on him with the first overall selection, according to a source. The Titans feel Winston "checks out" after they've done extensive homework on the prospect, and Tennessee feels the pending lawsuit against Winston wouldn't impact their decision to select him. Winston made a great impression when he met with the team April 13.

Fantasy Tip: It'd be a bit of a surprise if the Bucs passed on Winston, but anything can happen in the draft. Either way, Winston will likely be competing for a starting gig in his maiden voyage in training camp this summer. He's the most pro-ready QB in this draft, but he'll still face many challenges and ups and downs if he's starting right out of the gate.

Buccaneers | Bucs gathering info on Jameis Winston

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 17:47:05 -0700

Florida State QB Jameis Winston's background has been researched closely by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and according to the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers communicated directly with assistant state attorney Georgia Cappleman, who did the majority of the work regarding the claims made by Erica Kinsman against Winston.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers are doing their due diligence with Winston, and while he is still expected to be a strong candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, his off-field issues could impact his stock.
