Buccaneers | Jameis Winston off to historic start

Sun, 11 Jun 2017 20:25:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 4,000 yards and 20-plus touchdowns in each of his first two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Another year of experience and the additions of DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard to the passing attack could push Winston into QB1 territory this season.

Buccaneers | Cameron Brate to remain the starter?

Sat, 10 Jun 2017 18:22:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate and QB Jameis Winston have a chemistry that is "going to be tough to dethrone," according to Trevor Sikkema of PetwerReport.com, and Sikkema believes Brate could make it difficult for TE O.J. Howard to be the No. 1 option at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Howard has long-term upside as a TE1 and is the preferred option in keeper leagues. However, Winston looked Brate's way a lot in the red zone last year, and his touchdown potential should allow Brate to remain a quality TE2 this season.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston great with tight ends

Wed, 07 Jun 2017 06:50:43 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston has the fifth-best passer rating when targeting tight ends since he entered the league three years ago, according to Pro Football Focus. However, he is third-worst in the league when targeting other positions.

Fantasy Tip: The latter number isn't too surprising because the team hasn't had a lot of receiving options outside of Mike Evans, and Winston probably tried to force the ball to him sometimes. The addition of DeSean Jackson should help. Winston is in the conversation of a low-end QB1 in fantasy.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston to move out of the pocket

Sat, 01 Apr 2017 12:51:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter said the team will continue to have some plays that call for QB Jameis Winston to throw outside the pocket because he had success with those plays in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Winston played well in his second season and finished with 4,090 yards and 28 touchdowns. He has thrown 33 interceptions in his first two seasons but can still be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues next season.

NFL | Dalvin Cook wants to play in Tampa

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 20:54:36 -0800

Florida State RB Dalvin Cook said it would be a "dream come true" to play with Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston.

Fantasy Tip: With Doug Martin's future in doubt, Tampa Bay could be in the market for a running back. Cook could shine alongside Winston and Mike Evans.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston beat the rush in 2016

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 18:25:39 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston was pressured on 34.9 percent of his drop-backs in 2016 but posted a QBR of 80.7 in those situations, the best mark by any quarterback since 2009.

Fantasy Tip: Winston didn't make much of a leap statistically from his freshman to sophomore season in the NFL and still commits too many turnovers, but his ability to thrive under pressure like this bodes well for his future. The first overall pick in the 2015 draft could be poised to take the next step next season if Tampa Bay is able to find a capable sidekick for Mike Evans at receiver.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston makes his mark

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 14:09:40 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston is the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 4,000 passing yards in each of his first two seasons. He is the fifth player ever to throw for at least 50 touchdowns in his first two seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Winston has had his ups and downs in his young career, but he has been a borderline QB1 in those two seasons. Ideally, he will get even better as his career progresses, so he should not be considered a QB2. Draft him as a low-end QB1 in 2017.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston so-so in finale

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 19:51:12 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed 20 of his 35 pass attempts for 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers. He also rushed three times for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Winston ended up throwing more interceptions (6) than touchdowns (5) in the final three games, but overall it was a successful season for Winston. He threw for 4,090 yards with 28 TDs and 18 INTs, completing better than 60 percent of his passes. He will be a low-end QB1 heading into 2017 in most fantasy formats.

Buccaneers | Jameis Winston picked off twice

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 23:41:30 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston threw for two interceptions Sunday, Dec. 24, in a 31-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Winston finished 23-of-35 for 277 yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Jairus Byrd was a nightmare for Winston all day, but it was quite a competitive contest for the Bucs QB. Winston has helped Tampa Bay become stronger on the field, but he's still too up-and-down to rank as a QB1. He works better as the second signal-caller on your team.
