Kansas City Chiefs OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif spent the majority of the offseason practices working as a backup left guard. He is not expected to have much impact as a rookie, and will need the season to develop and learn his craft.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the team used OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at offensive tackle and guard during the rookie minicamp, because they want him to learn both positions. "We told him we were going to work both spots with him," Reid said. "He's probably more natural at the guard spot than the tackle spot, but we want to make sure he learns both."

Kansas City Chiefs OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif said he weighed 307 pounds when he arrived to rookie minicamp but is willing to add some weight if the team wants him to this offseason. General manager John Dorsey said after the draft he could easily see Duvernay-Tardif play at between 325 pounds and 330 pounds.
