Lions | Nate Freese waived

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 09:41:00 -0700

Detroit Lions PK Nate Freese was waived Monday, Sept. 22, and the team signed free-agent PK Alex Henery (Eagles) to an undisclosed deal to take his place. Freese made just three of seven field goal tries this year, with all four misses coming on kicks from 40 yards or more.

Fantasy Tip: Henery may be a cheap option to start out for the Lions, and he's worth a look this weekend at FantasyScore against the New York Jets.

Lions | Alex Henery coming aboard

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 08:21:08 -0700

Detroit Lions PK Nate Freese appears to have lost his job, and the team plans to sign free-agent PK Alex Henery Monday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Henery will have some low-end PK value due to the offense's explosive ability. Look to acquire him if you had Freese or have to cover a buy week.

Lions | Sticking with Nate Freese

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 10:03:21 -0700

Detroit Lions PK Nate Freese will continue to be the team's kicker, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Freese likely is on a short leash since he has struggled in the first two games. Owners should be able to find a more reliable kicker to use.

Lions | Nate Freese misses two kicks

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 19:22:29 -0700

Detroit Lions PK Nate Freese misfired on a pair of field goal attempts in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. He was able to tack on one extra point. Head coach Jim Caldwell said Sunday, Sept. 14, that he "won't make any rash decisions" on whether to keep Freese as the kicker after the misses.

Fantasy Tip: Pardon the pun, but Freese might be skating on thin ice after the two misses. Avoid him for fantasy purposes until he starts to show some consistency.

Lions | Nate Freese wins job

Mon, 25 Aug 2014 10:45:47 -0700

Detroit Lions PK Nate Freese has won the kicker job, because the team has released PK Giorgio Tavecchio.

Fantasy Tip: Freese could be a low-end No. 1 kicker in some leagues as well as a bye-week replacement in leagues where he is not drafted.
