Dodgers | LA Dodgers send several players to DL

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 13:13:16 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (leg) was among a number of players placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, April 3. Joining him were SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder), SP Brandon McCarthy (elbow), 2B Howie Kendrick (calf), INF Alex Guerrero (knee), C Yasmani Grandal (forearm), SP Brett Anderson (back), SP Mike Bolsinger (oblique) and RP Josh Ravin (wrist).

Fantasy Tip: Los Angeles' pitching depth figures to be tested right off the bat, as Ryi is expected to be out another month while McCarthy and Anderson may not return until the second half. Ethier's absence should make Carl Crawford a full-time player again until around June, making the ex-Tampa Bay Ray standout a fine under-the-radar fantasy option. The other notable name here is Grandal, who should be a serviceable catcher in fantasy if he is healthy. He is expected back in mid-April.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger won't be ready

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 15:19:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger (oblique) won't be ready for the start of the season, according to team president Andrew Friedman.

Fantasy Tip: There must be some kind of curse concerning the back-end of the Dodgers rotation this year, as Bolsinger is just the latest injury casualty. Nonetheless, that's arguably a blessing in disguise for LA, as despite notable progress last season in his sophomore campaign, Bolsinger is a below-average pitcher with a a very low ceiling. He was struggling in the second half of 2015 anyway, and probably wouldn't hold down a spot on the staff in the long term. With him out of the picture for now, Brandon Beachy or Carlos Frias will step up and assume the fifth slot.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger is much improved

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 20:57:54 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger (side) was improved Monday, March 21, as he works his way back from a side injury. He appears to be the team's choice to serve as the fifth starter, which would mean he would make his first regular season appearance April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger appears to be in line to serve as the No. 5 in L.A., but his fantasy appeal is limited to deeper NL-only formats. If he is not ready for the regular season it would be Zach Lee getting the nod.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger has oblique injury

Sun, 20 Mar 2016 18:45:01 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger (oblique) is dealing with a minor oblique issue and doesn't have a timetable for his return, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger was in line to be the No. 5 starter, and it remains to be seen who will fill the role if necessary. Bolsinger was a fringe option in NL-only leagues before the injury, and he can be left on waivers at this point.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger sharp in spring outing

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 23:51:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger allowed just two hits and a walk with two strikeouts over four scoreless innings in a Cactus League spring start Monday, March 14, against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger is in the mix for a rotation spot, and if he keeps pitching like this he will nail a job down. Even so, he is only worth fantasy consideration in deeper NL-only formats at this point.

Dodgers | Zach Lee looking good

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 11:31:51 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zach Lee is showing the club good things in spring training and has improved his breaking pitches. He's in the mix with SPs Brandon Beachy and Mike Bolsinger for the final rotation spot.

Fantasy Tip: Lee, one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects behind Julio Urias, went 13-6 with a 2.63 ERA in three minor league stops last year while striking out 85 in 123 1/3 innings. A low strikeout rate limits his long-term potential in the bigs, but improved control and a ground-ball profile would make him attractive in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he wins a spot.

Dodgers | Brandon Beachy, Mike Bolsinger have shot

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 09:37:59 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Brandon Beachy and Mike Bolsinger likely will get a chance to compete to take SP Brett Anderson's (back) spot in the starting rotation to begin the year.

Fantasy Tip: The real winner with Anderson out three to five months is Alex Wood, who will now be firmly cemented in the rotation. Wood was a bit disappointing in his first year in L.A., but despite a drop in velocity and dominance, his ground-ball profile fits great in Dodgers Stadium. It's a great time to buy in the late rounds.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger to start Saturday

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 21:32:09 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger will make a start Saturday, Sept. 12, against the Arizona Diamondbacks with SP Brett Anderson (calf) pushed back due to injury.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will face Rubby De La Rosa ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) in a rather unfavorable matchup for the replacement. It's best to avoid Bolsinger in FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Mike Bolsinger starting Friday

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 09:50:52 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger will make a spot start against the San Diego Padres Friday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger had a decent stretch earlier this year in the Dodgers rotation, and he has a 2.83 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 16 starts (89 innings). He won't be available on FantasyScore this evening, though. Stacking some Padres hitters, most notable Matt Kemp ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) or Justin Upton ($5,500, 11.0% of cap), against Bolsinger isn't a terrible idea this evening.

Dodgers | Three arms coming to help out

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 18:45:06 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers will promote Ps Mike Bolsinger, Joel Peralta and Ian Thomas to the big club Tuesday, Sept. 1, when rosters expand. The team is expected to make additional moves later in the month.

Fantasy Tip: Bolsinger has started games in the past and could be used in a pinch if the team feels there is a need. FantasyScore players likely need not bother with any of them, although Bolsinger likely is the best bet to make a splash again.
