Mariners | Chris Taylor dealing with stiff neck

Fri, 15 May 2015 15:48:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor (neck) is not in the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox Friday, May 15, because he has a little stiffness in his neck. SS Brad Miller is batting second and playing shortstop Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Taylor ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) for your fantasy lineups Friday. He has struggled to gain traction at the dish this season and is currently just 4-for-28. Miller ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is riding a three-game hit streak with two runs, a home run and two RBIs, and he projects as an upside flier for FantasyScore contests Friday.

Mariners | Chris Taylor back in lineup

Tue, 12 May 2015 15:14:52 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor (hand) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 12, after missing a game with a sore hand. SS Brad Miller is once again serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Miller ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) are both similar players with limited offensive abilities. Miller is hitting second in the batting order, though, which gives him more FantasyScore appeal as a sleeper play that could pay off.

Mariners | Chris Taylor the starting SS

Wed, 06 May 2015 09:17:31 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor has taken the starting shortstop gig from SS Brad Miller, but Miller remains on the roster with OF Austin Jackson (ankle) on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) hit .287 (39-for-136) with no home runs and nine RBI for the Mariners in 47 games last year. Like Miller, he has very little power, but he also has 20-stolen base potential over a full season. He should be immediately added in AL-only leagues if he's available. At FantasyScore, he could be a low-end value play while he works his way back into action.

Mariners | Brad Miller not starting

Mon, 04 May 2015 15:37:19 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brad Miller is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 4. SS Chris Taylor is starting at the 6 and hitting ninth in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor could give Miller occasional rest at shorstop, and he'll be a very cheap sleeper play at FantasyScore only in the right matchups. Look to avoid him for your daily lineups tonight against Shoemaker.

Mariners | Austin Jackson lands on DL

Mon, 04 May 2015 15:22:14 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson (ankle) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 4. SS Chris Taylor and RP Joe Beimel were brought up from Triple-A Tacoma.

Fantasy Tip: Justin Ruggiano ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is starting in center field and hitting second in the batting order Monday, and he could see much more playing time with Jackson sidelined. Ruggiano is a low-end sleeper play at FantasyScore when he's in the lineup, and he gains short-term appeal in AL-only leagues.

Mariners | Chris Taylor to DL

Sun, 05 Apr 2015 14:25:26 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor (wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) should be kept off your roster for now while Brad Miller starts, but Taylor is worth watching if Miller falters to start the season.

Mariners | Chris Taylor has broken wrist

Sat, 14 Mar 2015 13:34:50 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Chris Taylor (wrist) will be sidelined four to six weeks because of a broken right wrist. He suffered the injury after getting hit by a pitched ball against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, March 13, on a play that was ruled to be a foul tip. He remained in the game and reached on a single but will now open the regular season on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Prior to getting injured, Taylor was in a competition with SS Brad Miller to be the club's starting shortstop and had been doing well in Cactus League play. Miller has more offensive upside than Taylor and could be worth drafting in the later rounds of AL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Mariners | Jesus Montero, Brad Miller could see time at first base

Sat, 03 Jan 2015 10:11:02 -0800

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison has played fewer than 100 games in each of the last three seasons but general manager Jack Zduriencik doesn't feel acquiring a backup first baseman is a pressing need. DH/1B Jesus Montero is expected to see time at the position during spring training and SS Brad Miller could see action there if he loses the starting shortstop competition to INF Chris Taylor.
