Blue Jays | Devon Travis sitting vs. Yankees

Mon, 30 May 2016 13:16:40 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 30. 2B Ryan Goins draws into the lineup at shortstop and is batting ninth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova.

Fantasy Tip: Travis is 6-for-22 with three runs and three RBI since returning from the disabled list and should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues, if not all. He has missed substantial time, though, so expect the odd game off in the near future. Ryan Goins has a .151/.198/.244 slash line in close to full-time work this season, so he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format Monday.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis drives home winning run

Sat, 28 May 2016 14:01:39 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis continued his bid to move into the leadoff role sooner than later on Saturday, May 28, going 2-for-5 with two RBI - including the winning run to complete a rally - in a comeback win over the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: The leadoff spot has been a bit of a revolving door lately in Toronto, with Jose Bautista currently batting atop the order. Travis has at least one hit in each of the four games he has played since his return from a shoulder injury that kept him out of the team's first 47 contests, and the Blue Jays have won each time with him in the lineup. He should added and active in most leagues going forward, as he offers the potential for a .300 average and some pop at a weak fantasy position.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin warming up

Sat, 28 May 2016 13:38:56 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin played an instrumental role in a 10-9 comeback victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, May 28, going 3-for-5 with a solo home run and three runs scored. Martin homered in the sixth, sparked a four-run eighth to tie it up at 8-8 with an RBI single and delivered a game-tying, run-scoring double in the ninth before crossing the plate on 2B Devon Travis' walk-off infield single moments later.

Fantasy Tip: Martin, whose batting average hasn't exceeded .200 at any point this season, broke out of a season-long power slump with two blasts on Wednesday and has four extra-base hits over his last four games after producing only one extra-base hit over his first 122 at-bats. Martin's track record was too good for owners to bail on him, so for those patient enough to ride it out, they may be getting their reward now. Despite his woeful start, he's still a good bet to be a top-10 backstop at season's end.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis makes 2016 debut

Wed, 25 May 2016 21:53:08 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis was in the starting lineup on Wednesday, May 25, marking the first time he played in the majors since July 28, 2015. He batted eighth and went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Fantasy Tip: Travis opened eyes with his .304-8-35 line as a rookie and could find himself at the top of the order before too long. There's a lot of upside here, making Travis someone you should stash away before someone else does.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis likely to lead off soon?

Wed, 25 May 2016 14:29:23 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis will be given a couple games to show "how he looks," and then he could move to the leadoff spot, manager John Gibbons said Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Travis returned a .304/.361/.498 slash line through 238 plate appearances last season, and setting the table for a potent offense stands to make him a strong option at the keystone going forward. Travis should be owned in all fantasy formats now that he is healthy and back with the big club.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis hitting eighth vs. Yankees

Wed, 25 May 2016 12:42:58 -0700

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) is starting at second base and batting eighth against New York Yankees Ivan Nova Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Travis should be owned in all seasonal leagues, after he posted a .304/.361/.498 slash line through 238 plate appearances last season. He could find himself hitting higher up in the lineup at some point, but for now, fantasy owners should just be happy he is healthy and back with the big club. Don't shy away from inserting Travis into your starting lineups immediately.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis returning

Wed, 25 May 2016 10:59:25 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) is being recalled from his rehab assignment Wednesday, May 25, and will come off the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Travis figures to send Darwin Barney back to the bench, and he enters one of the most potent lineups in baseball. Travis hit .306 in nine rehab games, and there's no reason to wait to start him if you own him. He'll be a midrange option in DFS.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis making progress

Tue, 24 May 2016 18:25:01 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) has performed well during his rehab assignment, but there is no official timetable for his return. There is a chance that Travis could be activated from the 15-day disabled list in time for the game against the Boston Red Sox Friday, May 27. Manager John Gibbons said Travis will be a candidate for the leadoff spot when he returns.

Fantasy Tip: Travis has missed the entire 2016 season but may be able to return in the near future. Travis posted solid numbers in 2015 and should be a decent option in deeper fantasy leagues. Ryan Goins will continue to start at second base until Travis returns but is not a strong fantasy option.

Sun, 22 May 2016 07:59:38 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) went 1-for-4 with a double in a rehab game for Class AAA Buffalo Saturday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Travis is 9-for-27 with seven RBI through the first seven games of his rehab assignment. The 25-year-old is worth stashing in most fantasy formats due to his power potential and his overall performance during his rookie campaign last year.

Fri, 20 May 2016 21:35:58 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) had three hits in his first rehab game for Class AAA Buffalo Thursday, May 18.
