Blue Jays | Devon Travis could return in May

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 18:00:50 -0800

The Toronto Blue Jays remain hopeful that 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) can return to action during the month of May, although manager John Gibbons said the wait could be longer.

Fantasy Tip: Travis is continuing to recover from offseason surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to resume baseball activities in April. He could fall down the draft boards to the later rounds because of his injury status despite batting .304 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in 62 games as a rookie in 2015.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis to miss start of season

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 12:41:21 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) is expected to resume baseball activities in April, according to a rough timeline established for his rehab by general manager Ross Atkins.

Fantasy Tip: Travis underwent left shoulder surgery in November and was one of baseball's better players at the keystone position when healthy, batting .304 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in 62 games during his rookie season. INF Ryan Goins will begin the season as the starting second baseman but is not worth drafting outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis undergoes surgery

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 13:02:52 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) underwent shoulder surgery Wednesday, Nov. 18, and he will require four to five months to recover.

Fantasy Tip: The recovery timeline puts Travis on track to be ready for the beginning of the 2016 season. While he was excellent when healthy in 2015 with 38 runs, eight home runs, 35 RBI and a .304/.361/.498 slash line through 62 games, it could be tough to trust him as anything more than a late-round pick in drafts this spring. Still, there is a lot to like about being attached to the potent Toronto lineup. Check back for updates on Travis' recovery over the winter.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis undergoes procedure

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 18:37:29 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) had a cyst drained in his left shoulder and "general cleanup." There is no structural damage and he is expected to be completely healthy by spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Travis hit .304 with eight home runs and 35 RBIs in 62 games before his season was ended prematurely. Ryan Goins ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is seeing most of the playing time at the keystone position for the Jays and should be considered by FantasyScore owners who need an inexpensive middle infield option.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis done for 2015

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 13:29:05 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) will undergo season-ending exploratory surgery on his left shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Travis ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) flashed huge upside in a small sample this season with a .304/.361/.498 slash line through 62 games. As long as he enters the 2016 season with a clean bill of health, there is a lot to like about his upside in drafts next spring. Cliff Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Ryan Goins ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will continue to see everyday at-bats up the middle for Toronto.

Blue Jays | No update on Devon Travis

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 22:41:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) received a cortisone shot in his left shoulder last week. However, manager John Gibbons had no update on Travis' status Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Travis ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Blue Jays | Devin Travis needs more rest

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:38:12 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) saw a specialist and received another cortisone shot in a different area of his shoulder Tuesday, Aug. 25. He will require more rest before returning.

Fantasy Tip: Travis ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been an elite offensive contributor when in the lineup, but he has been limited to just 62 games. Continue to stash Travis in all formats, but if you need the roster flexibility to keep in contention in your seasonal league, he can be dropped in 12-team formats. It doesn't sound like Travis is coming back anytime soon.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis recovering slowly

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:14:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) is progressing slowly from his shoulder injury, but manager John Gibbons said Travis "definitely" is expected to return before the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Travis ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is a candidate worth stashing in all formats, even if he's only able to return for the final month of the season. Ryan Goins ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will continue serving as the starting second baseman in Travis' absence. Goins doesn't hit much, so he's mainly middle infield depth in AL-only leagues.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis won't be out long

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:51:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) is expected to be out two weeks after missing a month with a shoulder injury earlier this year.

Fantasy Tip: That's music to Travis' ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) owners' ears, and it's definitely reason to hang onto him in all leagues, especially since he's likely to return to the leadoff role in a revamped Toronto lineup when he's healthy. Ryan Goins will take over for Travis in the meantime, but he only has value in the deepest of leagues and isn't attractive in daily formats.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis put on DL

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:27:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: It's Travis' second DL trip for the same shoulder. It's unclear how much time he'll miss this time around, but be patient and stash him in all leagues for now. Ryan Goins ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) will see the bulk of the starts at second base in Travis' absence, but Goins is a weak fantasy option only for those in the deepest of leagues if you're desperate for middle infield help.
