Blue Jays | Devon Travis is key for Toronto

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 09:11:15 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays are 27-17 with 2B Devon Travis in the starting lineup and 30-27 without him this season.

Fantasy Tip: Win totals don't have a significant impact on fantasy statistics, but it's a clear sign of how valuable Travis is. He's sporting a .286/.328/.451 slash line with 29 runs, six home runs and 24 RBI through just 47 games and is a viable starter in all fantasy formats.

Blue Jays | Michael Saunders, Justin Smoak out

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 10:32:51 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders and 1B Justin Smoak are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Patrick Corbin Wednesday, July 20. 2B Darwin Barney is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff, which moves 2B Devon Travis down to eighth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders is resting versus a lefty, and Smoak is out for the second straight day with no DH in an NL park. Barney might be an intriguing low-priced flier in DFS as a sleeper, but his offensive profile is limited, and his style of play doesn't work well for daily owners. Travis loses a lot of luster in the daily arena and should be avoided.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis leading off

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 11:16:09 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis is batting first in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill Sunday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Travis has at least one hit in four of his last five games and has three RBI this month. Travis could be a decent option for owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis, Russell Martin out

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 10:35:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis and C Russell Martin are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Saturday, July 16. INF Darwin Barney will bat eighth and start at second base, while C Josh Thole bats ninth and starts behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Barney is 11-for-33 (.333) at the plate this month and is 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI in his career versus Gray, so he's worth considering as a source of productive cap relief in DFS. Thole is in the lineup because knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is pitching but he should not be viewed as a viable fantasy option Saturday.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis goes deep

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 13:16:38 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis homered for the first time in nine games Saturday, July 9, in a loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Travis has been scuffling a bit since the Blue Jays wrapped up a road trip in Colorado on June 29. The 25-year-old Florida State product has started out this month in a 4-for-25 slump - even after today's 1-for-4 effort - after batting .302 with five home runs and 17 RBI in June. Against the struggling Anibal Sanchez on Sunday, Travis and most of his Toronto teammates make for solid DFS plays as the Blue Jays attempt to end the first half on a high note.

Blue Jays | No Devon Travis vs. Tigers

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 12:59:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 8. 2B Darwin Barney is starting at second base and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Mike Pelfrey Friday.

Fantasy Tip: This is the second consecutive night off for Travis, so there might be an injury. Stay tuned for updates on that front. Barney is best viewed as a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only seasonal leagues and a desperation flier in daily contests Friday.
