Dodgers | Two Dodgers for No. 5 spot

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 06:10:13 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias or SP Ross Stripling will be the team's No. 5 starter as manager Dave Roberts said SP Zach Lee is out of the competition.

Fantasy Tip: Frias and Stripling are NL-only depth options at this point.

Dodgers | Three LAD pitchers vying for No. 5 spot

Sun, 27 Mar 2016 07:35:54 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Zach Lee and Carlos Frias are considered to be the two primary candidates to win the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, with SP Ross Stripling also likely to be in the running for the job.

Fantasy Tip: As far as owners in NL-only and dynasty leagues are concerned, Lee has the most potential to succeed in this role due to his four-pitch repertoire and ability to induce ground balls. However, none of these pitchers are worth drafting in most fantasy formats because their time in the rotation would likely be short-lived, with five starters (Brett Anderson, Mike Bolsinger, Brandon McCarthy, Frankie Montas and Hyun-Jin Ryu) currently battling injuries.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias making spot start

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 15:11:23 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias will make the spot start against the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Zack Greinke was scratched with calf soreness. Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) last started a game for the Dodgers on June 30 against the same D-backs and allowed three runs in five innings. He'll likely be on a short leash again. Don't consider him at all on FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Mat Latos cut

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 18:29:46 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated SP Mat Latos for assignment. In a corresponding move, P Carlos Frias (back) was activated from the 60-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Since being acquired from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline, Latos ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) went 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA in six appearances, five of which were starts. He should be dropped in all fantasy formats.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias set for rehab assignment

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 17:54:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodger SP Carlos Frias (back) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Sunday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has started 12 games for the Dodgers this season, and he's accumulated an ERA of 4.39 and a K/9 of 5.17. Frias is only worthy of occasional FantasyScore use, and he's entirely dependent on matchups.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias suffers setback

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:54:24 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias (back) suffered a setback during his rehab.

Fantasy Tip: If Brandon Beachy and Mike Bolsinger continue to perform in the starting rotation, Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) might not have a spot to come back to, and he could be used in relief by the Dodgers. If Frias isn't starting, he has zero fantasy appeal.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias to throw bullpen

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 16:11:21 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias (back) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, July 9. He will go on a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) could return to the rotation in the second half later this month. However, there's no guarantee he'll be a starter again with Brandon Beachy getting close to a return from Tommy John surgery.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias lands on DL

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 09:38:46 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right lower back tightness Sunday, July 5. RP Daniel Coulombe was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) had been inconsistent of late after a nice start with the Dodgers this year. It's unknown who will take Frias' spot in the starting rotation, so stay tuned. There's no need to hang onto Frias in shallow mixed leagues if you had owned him.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias to make next start

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:02:16 -0700

Despite his struggles during the month of June, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias is expected to make his next scheduled start, according to manager Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Tip: Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) went 1-3 in six starts with a 4.50 ERA during the month of June and hasn't pitched beyond the sixth inning in any of his last four games. He allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings in his last start against the Diamondbacks Tuesday, June 30, but struggled with his control, walking three batters while only striking out one. Avoid him in FantasyScore for the foreseeable future.

Dodgers | Carlos Frias not sharp lately

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 16:00:50 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias hasn't gone six innings in any of his last three starts, and he is 1-3 with a 4.34 ERA in June. However, he gave up just one run and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision the last time he faced the Arizona Diamondbacks June 9. Frias is 1-0 in two starts against Arizona this year and has allowed just a run over 12 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Frias ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has looked more human of late and now has a 4.31 ERA and 1.52 WHIP on the season in 11 starts. The low FantasyScore salary shouldn't be enough to persuade daily gamers to start him tonight against the D-backs in a hitter-friendly park. Look elsewhere.
