Fantasy Tip: A player can still put up a respectable stat line in just 20 snaps, but it's best to refrain from starting Brown until he's full go. In the meantime, Larry Fitzgerald, David Johnson, Michael Floyd and J.J. Nelson should split most of Brown's targets.

Cardinals | John Brown to see specialists

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 05:43:59 -0800

Updating previous reports, Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) will see multiple specialists this week due to the sickle-cell trait continuously causing his legs to tighten. "That's the one that's so baffling," head coach Bruce Arians said. "It's not really a pull. Whatever the blood issue he has the legs tighten up."

Fantasy Tip: Brown has really struggled amid his health issues, and he's not a viable option in fantasy for now.

Cardinals | John Brown out of game

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 12:52:54 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury Sunday, Nov. 27, against the Atlanta Falcons. He is out of the game.

Fantasy Tip: On most depth charts Brown is listed as a WR2 behind Larry Fitzgerald, so Brown definitely gets his share of targets and catches. Brown eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in his second season and has 30 catches and 380 yards in 2016, so to lose him would be a major fall for Arizona. Look for J.J. Nelson (18 catches, 243 yards, 2 TDs) to possibly step into a bigger role if Brown misses time.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Brown has a decent chance to play in Week 8, but owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. He has had a decent role in his past four games and has at least 70 yards in two of those games. He should have a solid role in the passing game and could be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in deeper leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown expects to suit up Sunday

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:48:28 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) said he expects to play in the team's Week 8 game Sunday, Oct. 30, against the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Bruce Arians also believes Brown will suit up as well.

Fantasy Tip: Brown missed last week's contest but even before that, he's been a real mixed bag thus far, with three games above 50 receiving yards, while the other three outings saw him produce less than 15 yards through the air. Owners might want to think about using caution this weekend regarding the third-year wide-out.

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 15:38:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Brown will have more value if Michael Floyd is sidelined, so keep an eye on that situation. The speedy deep threat has yet to score this year, but he has a positive matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Browin is solidly in WR3 territory for this week.

Brown missed the team's Week 7 game after being diagnosed with the sickle-cell trait, but Arians indicated he should be "fine" by Wednesday and hopes to have Brown available in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Brown performed well in three of his previous four games and could be in for a tasty matchup against a Carolina Panthers secondary that has had more than its share of problems this season. Keep an eye on his condition as the week progresses.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) underwent a blood test Thursday, Oct. 20, which revealed he has sickle-cell trait, and the team believes the condition is responsible for the various leg issues Brown has dealt with over the past two years.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown finished with one reception for 11 yards in a 33-21 win over the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: One week after piling up 144 receiving yards and 16 targets, Brown barley made an impact. He has now finished with just a single catch in three of five games, making him an all-or-nothing WR3 candidate.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown posted 10 receptions for a game-high 144 yards on 16 targets in the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has to contend with Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd for targets, and generally is third on the pecking order, but he shined in this one. Despite the big game he should still be treated as more of a low-end RB3 in most fantasy formats.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:11:03 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown caught six passes for 70 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3.

Cardinals | John Brown clears NFL's concussion protocol

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 23:13:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) has been medically cleared to play in the team's final preseason game on Thursday, Sept. 2, though head coach Bruce Arians may hold him out until the regular season opener.

Fantasy Tip: Brown might not have the name value of Larry Fitzgerald or Michael Floyd, but he was the steadier hand in 2015, and he certainly has more room to grow entering just his third NFL campaign. Brown is an interesting WR3 with upside.

Cardinals | Headaches linger for John Brown

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 13:13:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) is still having headaches, but he is making progress, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has not played yet during the preseason and he could be iffy for Week 1 if this trend continues. He really came onto the scene last year and is a low-end WR2 consideration after tallying over 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns in 2015 despite being the Cardinals' No. 3 wide receiver.

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 14:03:23 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Aug. 24, because he is dealing with a headache.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is working his way back from a concussion and will be held out until he is healthy. He will have a few weeks to recover before the start of the season, so owners should monitor the situation. He is part of one of the better receiver corps in the NFL and should be considered a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown cleared to return

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 14:44:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) was cleared to practice on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has been sidelined nearly three weeks after reportedly hitting his head on the turf late last month. He should be in line to see some snaps against the Houston Texans next Sunday. While "Smokey" is the least highly regarded of the Cardinals' three top receivers, he might be the safest bet of the bunch for 1,000 yards receiving this year and is arguably the most explosive of the bunch. He's a high-upside WR3 in most drafts.

Cardinals | John Brown still in protocol

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 13:01:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) still has not cleared the concussion protocol. The Cardinals remain concerned and are being cautious with Brown, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Concussions are tricky in the NFL, as has been well documented. The Cardinals won't take any risks until Brown is cleared. The shifty receiver is an integral part of the Arizona's prolific passing attack. He'll remain a WR2 option as long as he's good to go for the start of the regular season.

Cardinals | John Brown won't play

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 11:34:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) will not play in the Cardinals' first preseason game Friday, Aug. 12, against the Oakland Raiders even if he is cleared to do so.

Fantasy Tip: Not a big deal. The Cardinals will take it easy with their breakout receiver from a year ago. He may be the third wide receiver on the team, but he may be the most valuable No. 3 wide receiver in the entire league. If Brown doesn't see any setbacks between now and Week 1, he can be taken as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3.

Cardinals | John Brown still in protocol

Thu, 04 Aug 2016 14:21:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) is still in the concussion protocol, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Brown will be ready to play in the preseason opener, but the Cardinals won't take any chances. Brown is primed to have another solid year after a breakout 2015 campaign. Draft him in WR2 territory in standard leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown in concussion protocol

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 11:09:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) will not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 1, because he is taking part in the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Brown will have to pass his concussion tests before he is able to play again, so the Cardinals can take their time with him. Brown should receive plenty of targets in the Cardinals' high-powered passing game and should be a middle-round option in all leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown under the radar

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 15:09:28 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown finished the 2015 season with 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ranked 22nd in standard scoring formats among wide receivers last year, but he's currently the 32nd receiver off draft boards. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd will get their share of targets, but Brown deserves more attention heading into 2016 in one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 13:29:39 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 22, and is listed as probable for the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) should see his usual targets during the game and is looking to improve on his 82-yard outing in the divisional round. Brown could be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Limited practice for two Cardinals

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 14:02:32 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (toe) and WR John Brown (shoulder) were limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Like the rest of the Arizona's offense, Johnson ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is facing a tough test in the Carolina Panthers this weekend. He may not find as much running room as he'd like to, but the Panthers allowed the second most catches to running backs this season (110), and Johnson is more than a capable pass-catcher out of the backfield. He's still in RB1 territory for your playoff matchup. Brown is a viable starting option, too, and is definitely worth rostering in one of the three FantasyScore wide receiver positions.

Cardinals | John Brown looks to keep going

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 19:16:52 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown totaled 84 total yards from scrimmage in the win last weekend against the Green Bay Packers, now he'll face the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Panthers ranked 11th in the NFL against the pass, giving up 234.5 yards per game with 21 passing scores.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been productive despite having to share targets with Larry Fitzgerald ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Michael Floyd ($7,700, 15.4% of cap), At a mid-tier price, especially with just two games to choose from, he is a decent WR3 or flex play in FantasyScore.

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 13:52:54 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (toe) and WR John Brown (shoulder) were limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) and Brown ($6,400, 12.8%) should still be able to play as long as they don't suffer any setbacks. Johnson really struggled last week against the Green Bay Packers, and he may not find much running room versus a stingy Carolina Panthers defense either. Brown tallied five catches for 82 yards last week and is still a viable option as one of your three FantasyScore wide receivers.

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 15:37:38 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown went over 1,000 receiving yards for the season in the Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the re-emergence of Larry Fitzgerald this season, and the strong play of Michael Floyd, Brown has clearly been a strong fantasy option this season.

Cardinals | John Brown hurt by drops

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 16:11:03 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown dropped two potential touchdown passes in the Week 15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. However, QB Carson Palmer didn't second guess Brown and went back to him in the second half, as Brown had three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown. "I told him, I'm going to keep going to you. You're eventually going to make the plays we expect you to make and he did," Palmer said.

Fantasy Tip: It's a testament to Brown that Palmer went back to him after he blew two big catches. Brown's speed makes him a threat to score on any given play, but he's tough to rely on for consistency in point-per-reception leagues like FantasyScore.

Cardinals | John Brown gets into end zone

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 21:12:22 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown posted three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown was targeted a team-high nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Carson Palmer was definitely looking Brown's way, but he had a drop or two and on a few other occasions they just weren't on the same page. He could be a solid fantasy option down the stretch if the team elects to rest some starters.

Cardinals | Three AZ WRs probable for Week 14

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 13:20:59 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WRs Larry Fitzgerald (ankle), John Brown (hamstring) and Michael Floyd participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9, and are listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: The Minnesota Vikings, Arizona's opponent this week, have been pretty average defensively against wide receivers this year, but the Cardinals have one of the most prolific passing attacks in football. Fitzgerald ($7,900, 15.8% of cap), Floyd ($6,000, 12.0%) and Brown ($5,100, 10.2%) each did well last week, but Fitzgerald is the most consistent of the three.

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 13:58:59 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WRs Larry Fitzgerald (ankle), John Brown (hamstring) and Michael Floyd (hamstring) were limited in practice Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald, Brown ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) and Floyd ($6,000, 12.0%) were able to play last week, and they played well. It would be a surprise to see any of them sit in Week 14, but they should be monitored throughout the week to be sure. Fitzgerald ($7,900, 15.8%) is the most consistent of the three, but they're all worth consideration for FantasyScore lineups.
