Cardinals | John Brown practices in full

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 16:38:21 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) was able to practice in full on Friday, Dec. 29, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Brown appears to be in line to play in the regular-season finale, but he is only worth a look as a WR5 in deeper leagues at this point.

Cardinals | John Brown returns to practice Thursday

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 17:18:08 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) returned to practice Thursday, Dec. 28, and was a limited participant.

Fantasy Tip: This indicates that Brown will probably be active for Sunday's season finale opposite the Seahawks, but he's not a strong option at all. Brown's ceiling with Drew Stanton under center is pretty low, and thus, Larry Fitzgerald is really the only receiver worth starting from the Cardinals for Week 17.

Cardinals | John Brown sits out practice Wednesday

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 17:22:16 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: In his return to action in Week 16, the 27-year-old hauled in two of four targets for 28 yards, while managing to find the end zone for the third time this year. However, with nothing to play for in the season finale, it's possible the Cardinals hold Brown out if this toe injury continues to linger. Even if he does ultimately suit up, he's not a strong option to roll with.

Cardinals | John Brown limited again in practice

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 15:51:53 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: It's starting to look like Brown will be able to suit up for the first time since Week 11, but he'll be returning to a much different offense than he's accustomed to. Since he has no established chemistry with Blaine Gabbert, it'd be very risky to start Brown this week in any league. Owners are better off waiting to see how he gels with his new quarterback.

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 15:54:50 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 24, and has been ruled out for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: JJ Nelson should be more involved in the passing game with Brown sidelined. He has been held to three catches in the last three games and has under 40 yards in each of the last five games. Nelson probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown does not practice

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 12:12:40 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Brown could be in danger of missing the injury because of the injury, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He has been targeted 12 times over the last two games but has only 45 yards during that span. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options and can avoid Brown.

Cardinals | No practice for John Brown

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 13:43:44 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) was not able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is dealing with turf toe and is already expected to miss some time. That makes Larry Fitzgerald that much more attractive in the passing game. Frankly, Fitz is the only Cardinal you can trust in your starting lineup(s).

Cardinals | John Brown dealing with turf toe

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 11:14:22 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) has been diagnosed with turf toe and is likely to "miss time," according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Brown fell off the fantasy radar the moment Carson Palmer got hurt. His four catches in the season opener remains his high water mark, and he has not topped 52 yards or scored in any of his last four games.

Cardinals | John Brown limited to 18 yards

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 18:06:20 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown posted three receptions for 18 yards on six targets in Week 11 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Brown was dealing with a back injury this week in practice and he certainly didn't look 100 percent, as he was basically a non-factor. He has seven grabs over the past four games with 103 yards and no scores. At this point he is more of a WR5 in deeper fantasy leagues heading into Week 12 against the Jaguars.

Cardinals | John Brown active for Week 11

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 09:03:27 -0800

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) is active for Week 11's game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Brown only has 16 receptions in seven games this year and will be catching passes this afternoon from third-string quarterback Blaine Gabbert, so he is not a recommended option in any fantasy format, even though the Texans have allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game in the NFL this year (253.8).

Cardinals | John Brown expected to play

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 05:55:14 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) is expected to play in Week 11's game against the Houston Texans, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brown was listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited participant in two out of three practice sessions during the week. He only has 16 receptions through seven games this season and will have third-string QB Blaine Gabbert throwing to him this afternoon, so he is not worth starting in any fantasy format.

Cardinals | John Brown questionable for Week 11

Fri, 17 Nov 2017 13:53:04 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Nov. 17, and he is listed as questionable for Week 11 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has been rather inconsistent lately and is a borderline WR4 or WR5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. Add in the fact Blaine Gabbert, the team's No. 3 QB, is under center this week and it's a good idea to go another way if you own stock in Brown.

Cardinals | John Brown doesn't practice Thursday

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 14:45:10 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: This is actually a downgrade compared to Wednesday, when he was a limited participant, seemingly putting his status in doubt for Sunday's tilt in Houston. Even if he does suit up, it's hard to rely on Brown right now in any format, as he hasn't reeled in more than two catches in a game in a month and will be having third-stringer Blaine Gabbert throwing him the football.

Cardinals | Limited practice for John Brown

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 14:43:25 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Brown hasn't found the end zone in three games dating back to Week 6 against the Buccaneers. He remains a WR4 or WR5 in most fantasy leagues of 14 or more teams, and he is even less attractive from a fantasy perspective with Blaine Gabbert under center.

Cardinals | John Brown quiet again

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 21:52:13 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown tallied two receptions for 27 yards against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe this is the same guy that topped 1,000 yards in 2015. He simply cannot get going, though at least the six targets were his most since Oct. 8. There's been no evidence Brown will be worth starting anytime soon.

Cardinals | One big play for John Brown

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 19:26:51 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown cashed in his only catch for 52 yards in Week 9 against the San Francisco 49ers on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has been targeted at least four times in each of his six games, but he has managed just 14 receptions on 35 targets, which isn't a very good conversion rate. If Drew Stanton can get the ball into Brown's hands more, he might be worth using outside of deeper fantasy leagues again.

Cardinals | John Brown not getting much of a chance

Sat, 28 Oct 2017 09:47:33 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown has had a NFL-high 48.1 percent of the passes thrown in his direction ruled uncatchable this season, slightly more than second-place Zay Jones of the Buffalo Bills (46.2) and third-place Kamar Aiken (44.4).

Fantasy Tip: While Brown is obviously a vertical receiver who will see more than his fair share of deep targets, this certainly helps explain why Brown has caught on 13 of his 31 targets. With Drew Stanton taking over for Carson Palmer, expect Brown to fare even worse moving forward. Owners should not feel compelled to tenure holding him in redraft leagues through the bye.

Cardinals | John Brown on track for Week 6

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 13:42:27 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 13, and was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is expected to play, but he is battling Larry Fitzgerald, Jaron Brown and perhaps JJ Nelson (hamstring) for targets, so don't expect much in the way of fantasy appeal. He has just 105 yards and a touchdown, converting just nine of his 24 targets for receptions through three games.

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 16:13:06 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Brown should be able to play this week even though he was limited during practice. He will have a solid role in the passing game and could be a flex option in some leagues even though he has not posted great numbers this season.

Cardinals | Limited practice for John Brown

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 16:14:08 -0700

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 06:43:26 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) is expected to play in Week 5's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Brown was listed as questionable on the injury report and had been limited in practice throughout the week. He had three catches for 47 yards in his return to action versus the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4 and should be viewed as a viable flex option for Week 5, particularly if JJ Nelson (hamstring, tooth) is deactivated.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 6, and is listed as questionable for Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
