Panthers | Corey Brown out of practice

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 07:17:10 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) is out of practice Wednesday, Aug. 24, with a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is essentially the team's fifth receiver with Greg Olsen so prominent as a tight end. He is a very fringe player to consider in traditional fantasy leagues.

Panthers | Corey Brown leaves early

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 13:55:23 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) left practice early Tuesday, Aug. 23, with a shoulder injury. His removal from practice simply appeared to be a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: There may not be a lot of opportunities for Brown this year with Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess and Ted Ginn Jr. all likely ahead of him. He's not necessarily undraftable, but he's really only worth consideration in deeper standard leagues.

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 17:13:00 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Corey Brown, Stephen Hill, Brenton Bersin, Kevin Norwood and Damiere Byrd will compete for two roster spots during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Brown should be one of the favorites to earn a roster spot with a solid preseason and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues. Hill, Bersin and Norwood will compete for the other spot, but none of the players will be strong fantasy options.

Panthers | Corey Brown fully practices

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 15:21:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is coming off a four-catch, 113-yard, one-touchdown performance in the NFC Championship, but he'll have a tough time finding that kind of success versus a top Denver Broncos pass defense. As for next season, Brown should be viewed as a WR4 or WR5 at best, especially with Kelvin Benjamin returning.

Panthers | Corey Brown hauls in long score

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 19:49:54 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown had four catches for 113 yards, including an 86-yard touchdown, in a 49-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Brown's long score was the difference between him having a typical performance and being one of the biggest steals at FantasyScore. Heading into 2016, the return of Kelvin Benjamin will likely wipe out Brown's fantasy value.

Panthers | Corey Brown on the field a lot

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 18:33:25 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown faces the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24, and Brown ran the most routes of any player on the team over the final four games of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) had just two catches in the divisional round, but he topped 50 yards in three of the last four games of the regular season. With options for cap relief few and far between, Brown could be worth a flier at FantasyScore.

Panthers | Philly Brown to shuffle the Cards?

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 20:08:27 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown will meet the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, Jan. 24, in the NFC Championship Game. He posted two grabs for 22 yards on five targets last weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is the kind of player who could push you over the top in FantasyScore if he exceeds his salary expectations by a mile. It won't take much. Normally you wouldn't use him in the regular season, but with just two games he isn't a terrible WR3 or flex play with some upside.

Panthers | Corey Brown probable to play

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 10:25:58 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) practiced in full all week and is probable to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) hasn't really made an impact at all on offense this year and shouldn't all of a sudden be expected to since he's facing a terrible all-around defense. Avoid Brown in all formats.

Panthers | Corey Brown a full participant

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 11:05:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has no more than three catches in any game this year. The New Orleans Saints have one of the worst overall defenses in the NFL, but even that shouldn't persuade you to use Brown as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Full practice for Corey Brown

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 16:28:44 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be regarded as the No. 3 pass-catcher in Carolina behind Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn Jr., maybe even lower than that. He and the Panthers have a great matchup with the New Orleans Saints, though, so don't completely disregard him when setting your FantasyScore lineups.

Panthers | Corey Brown will not play

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 12:33:23 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) has been declared inactive for the Week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Devin Funchess ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) probably will have a bigger role in the passing game with Brown out. He has caught at least one touchdown in two of the last three games and could be a decent option for owners on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Corey Brown questionable

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 09:22:50 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) is questionable for Week 12 against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) sat out last week, too, and he should be avoided in all formats even if he does play. Devin Funchess has surpassed Brown in the receiving pecking order, and the Cowboys have been solid against receivers this year.

Panthers | Corey Brown limited Tuesday

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 11:34:01 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) was limited in practice Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: With Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) out in Week 11, Devin Funchess continued his rise to prominence in his rookie season. Brown has probably fallen down the depth chart at this point, and he's not really a viable option in any fantasy format right now.

Panthers | Devin Funchess living up to expectations

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 09:01:56 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess is showing signs of becoming a similar receiver to teammate WR Kelvin Benjamin, who caught 73 passes for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns in his rookie season in 2014. Funchess had six drops and just seven catches for 90 yards in the first seven games with Benjamin out for the year. Since then he has picked it up, and he moved into a starting role in Week 11 with WR Corey Brown injured and caught four passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Brown makes it back to play in the Thanksgiving matchup against the Dallas Cowboys this Thursday, there's a good chance Funchess ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has surpassed him on the depth chart. Dallas has held their own against receivers this year, but Funchess should still be good enough for a flex play on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Limited practice for Corey Brown

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 15:55:40 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Monday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Brown missed the Week 11 game against the Washington Redskins and hasn't recorded more than three catches in a game all season. With the emergence of rookie Devin Funchess in his absence, not to mention Cam Newton's established rapport with Ted Ginn Jr. and Greg Olsen, Brown is not really a fantasy option.

Panthers | Carolina's Week 11 inactives

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 08:37:21 -0800

Panthers | Corey Brown doubtful to play

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 10:37:38 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) did not practice Friday, Nov. 20, and is doubtful for Week 11 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: With Brown likely to sit out, Devin Funchess ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should see his role expand in the offense. The Redskins secondary can be beat, too, so Funchess has some value as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore if you want to take a risk.

Panthers | Corey Brown added to injury report

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 11:57:26 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has no more than three catches in any game this year, and his single game high in yardage is only 57 yards in 2015. With Devin Funchess carving out a bigger role in the aerial game, Brown is unlikely to stand out.

Panthers | Philly Brown held in check

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 16:42:18 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown posted just one reception for eight yards in the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had touchdowns in each of his past two games, and at least two grabs in four straight, but he took a step back in this one. He still cannot be trusted most weeks in FantasyScore.

Panthers | Philly Brown comes alive

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 22:55:53 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown posted three receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Nov. 2, and he added one rush for 14 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has emerged as a decent low-end WR3 or flex FantasyScore option heading into the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers, plus including him in your lineup saves you salary to spread across other positions.

Panthers | Corey Brown likely will play

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 12:14:23 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as probable for the Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has had some success this season but is coming off a Week 3 game where he did not catch a pass. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups this week.

Panthers | Corey Brown has full practice

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:20:01 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should be able to play after not practicing yesterday, but he hasn't produced much so far this year. While he is cheap, there are better value plays on FantasyScore for Week 4.

Panthers | Corey Brown does not practice

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 13:25:17 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) could return to practice later in the week if he is dealing with a minor illness. Brown was held without a catch in the last game and is not the best option for owners in Week 4.

Panthers | Ted Ginn, Corey Brown starting

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 10:43:33 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Ted Ginn Jr. and Corey Brown are considered the starting wide receivers at this point, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Ginn ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Brown ($2,000) may start but Devin Funchess ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should also see significant play time in Week 1. Funchess likely is the only Panthers receiver that has fantasy value for Week 1 and could be an option on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Corey Brown may be on roster bubble

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 13:45:57 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown could be on the roster bubble if he continues to struggle with dropped passes during the final preseason game. Brown dropped two touchdown passes over the last two games and dropped three passes in the last game.

Fantasy Tip: Brown could have a solid role in the passing game if he is able to fix his problem because the team lost Kelvin Benjamin for the season. Brown probably should not be selected in drafts but could be a waiver wire option during the season if he makes the team.

Panthers | Corey Brown struggles with drops

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 06:13:36 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown dropped four passes during the preseason game against the New England Patriots Friday, Aug. 28. Three drops were on the same drive, which included a would-be touchdown on a deep ball and an end-zone target. Head coach Ron Rivera said Brown needed to stop putting pressure on himself to replace WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) after the game. "To replace Benjamin is going to be a unit job, not a one-man job," Rivera added.

Fantasy Tip: Brown also dropped two passes last week, so while there may be a clear opportunity for the sophomore, he isn't doing his part to grab the ball and run with it. Brown is nothing more than a late-round flier in most leagues. Rookie Devin Funchess (hamstring) is looking more and more like the receiver to target from Carolina, but he will likely be inconsistent from week to week, especially with Rivera continuing to preach the group effort to replace Benjamin's targets and production from last season.

Panthers | Corey Brown has improved

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 11:32:32 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown has improved his route-running and has grasped the offense better this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has a lot more value with Kelvin Benjamin out for the season. It's hard to tell right just how much he'll be used or how much Cam Newton will look his way, but he is now a sleeper.

Panthers | Corey Brown could step up

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 19:16:11 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown, formerly known as Philly, could see an expanded role in the offense following the loss of WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee). However, he is expected to be rather inconsistent at times and he lacks the size that Benjamin has.

Fantasy Tip: Brown might not necessarily be a great option in standard fantasy formats, but he is someone to keep an eye on from time to time in FantasyScore, as he could exploit certain defenses for big performances.

Panthers | WR depth shaken up in Carolina

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:00:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Corey Brown and Jerricho Cotchery are currently the top two wide receivers on Carolina's depth chart, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Devin Funchess should eventually prove himself as the top fantasy option for the Panthers. Brown and Cotchery are worth adding in fantasy leagues, but it will be a risk to start them on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Corey Brown expanding his game

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 18:42:14 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown has developed into more than just a deep threat, according to TE Greg Olsen. "Last year at this time, Corey was a guy where we said, 'Wow, he's fast.' This year he is a receiver," Olsen said. "The guy can play. He's not just a one-trick pony, a guy who is just going to run deep. He has a lot of natural instinct to him. He has a good feel."

Fantasy Tip: Brown has big-play speed, and while he may be developing into a more complete receiver, he is unlikely to steal many looks with big targets like Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen and Devin Funchess in town. He is final-round flier at best in seasonal leagues, but he could make a nice high-risk, high-reward gamble in DFS games if one of Carolina's top receivers happens to miss a game during the year.

Panthers | Corey Brown could be deep threat

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 19:06:13 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (formerly known as Philly Brown) has big-play speed and he has run more precise routes during offseason workouts. He has developed a nice rapport with QB Cam Newton and he could potentially be a deep threat, more so than WR Ted Ginn Jr.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has the potential to be a breakout candidate in 2015, but risking anything more than a pick after Round 13 or so would be foolish at this point. Watch to see him perform in training camp and the preseason before bumping him up on your cheat sheets.

Panthers | Philly Brown gained muscle, speed

Thu, 28 May 2015 18:36:50 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Philly Brown said Thursday, May 28, he's gained 10 pounds and is faster.

Fantasy Tip: Brown had 21 receptions for 296 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season. The Panthers added plenty of bodies to their receiving corps, but Brown could emerge as the deep threat.

Panthers | Philly Brown ready for bigger role

Thu, 12 Feb 2015 18:10:54 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Philly Brown became a part of three-receiver sets in Week 11, and he said he expects to make even more plays next season.

Fantasy Tip: Brown's biggest asset is his speed, and he became a big-play threat for the Panthers late last season. Carolina will likely continue to use him to stretch the field in 2015, but he is unlikely to see the consistent targets needed to provide worthwhile fantasy numbers.

Panthers | Philly Brown questionable

Fri, 09 Jan 2015 12:55:53 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Philly Brown (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 9, and is listed as questionable for the Divisional Round playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Brown's status for the game is still in question, so owners will need to check the inactive list. Brown has not been a big role in the passing game over the last several weeks and probably should not be a great option on FantasyScore at $3,300.

Panthers | Philly Brown needs to show strength

Wed, 07 Jan 2015 17:13:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Philly Brown (shoulder) needs to demonstrate his shoulder is strong enough to allow him to block before he is cleared for the NFC divisional playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Jan. 10. "We don't want to put a guy out there that can't protect himself," head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: During the regular season, Brown might not be useful in FantasyScore, but in the postseason with a limited amount of games he could be useful at just $3,300 (or 6.6% of cap) if he is healthy.

Carolina Panthers WR Philly Brown (shoulder) is making progress from a shoulder injury, according to head coach Ron Rivera. However, Brown worked on the side during the team's practice Wednesday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is day-to-day right now. Against a dominant Seattle Seahawks defense on the road this weekend, we don't endorse Brown for your FantasyScore rosters.
