Panthers | Corey Brown likely will play

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 12:14:23 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as probable for the Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has had some success this season but is coming off a Week 3 game where he did not catch a pass. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups this week.

Panthers | Corey Brown has full practice

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:20:01 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should be able to play after not practicing yesterday, but he hasn't produced much so far this year. While he is cheap, there are better value plays on FantasyScore for Week 4.

Panthers | Corey Brown does not practice

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 13:25:17 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Brown ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) could return to practice later in the week if he is dealing with a minor illness. Brown was held without a catch in the last game and is not the best option for owners in Week 4.

Panthers | Ted Ginn, Corey Brown starting

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 10:43:33 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Ted Ginn Jr. and Corey Brown are considered the starting wide receivers at this point, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Ginn ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Brown ($2,000) may start but Devin Funchess ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should also see significant play time in Week 1. Funchess likely is the only Panthers receiver that has fantasy value for Week 1 and could be an option on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Corey Brown may be on roster bubble

Thu, 03 Sep 2015 13:45:57 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown could be on the roster bubble if he continues to struggle with dropped passes during the final preseason game. Brown dropped two touchdown passes over the last two games and dropped three passes in the last game.

Fantasy Tip: Brown could have a solid role in the passing game if he is able to fix his problem because the team lost Kelvin Benjamin for the season. Brown probably should not be selected in drafts but could be a waiver wire option during the season if he makes the team.

Panthers | Corey Brown struggles with drops

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 06:13:36 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown dropped four passes during the preseason game against the New England Patriots Friday, Aug. 28. Three drops were on the same drive, which included a would-be touchdown on a deep ball and an end-zone target. Head coach Ron Rivera said Brown needed to stop putting pressure on himself to replace WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) after the game. "To replace Benjamin is going to be a unit job, not a one-man job," Rivera added.

Fantasy Tip: Brown also dropped two passes last week, so while there may be a clear opportunity for the sophomore, he isn't doing his part to grab the ball and run with it. Brown is nothing more than a late-round flier in most leagues. Rookie Devin Funchess (hamstring) is looking more and more like the receiver to target from Carolina, but he will likely be inconsistent from week to week, especially with Rivera continuing to preach the group effort to replace Benjamin's targets and production from last season.

Panthers | Corey Brown has improved

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 11:32:32 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown has improved his route-running and has grasped the offense better this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has a lot more value with Kelvin Benjamin out for the season. It's hard to tell right just how much he'll be used or how much Cam Newton will look his way, but he is now a sleeper.

Panthers | Corey Brown could step up

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 19:16:11 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown, formerly known as Philly, could see an expanded role in the offense following the loss of WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee). However, he is expected to be rather inconsistent at times and he lacks the size that Benjamin has.

Fantasy Tip: Brown might not necessarily be a great option in standard fantasy formats, but he is someone to keep an eye on from time to time in FantasyScore, as he could exploit certain defenses for big performances.

Panthers | WR depth shaken up in Carolina

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:00:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Corey Brown and Jerricho Cotchery are currently the top two wide receivers on Carolina's depth chart, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Devin Funchess should eventually prove himself as the top fantasy option for the Panthers. Brown and Cotchery are worth adding in fantasy leagues, but it will be a risk to start them on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Corey Brown expanding his game

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 18:42:14 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Corey Brown has developed into more than just a deep threat, according to TE Greg Olsen. "Last year at this time, Corey was a guy where we said, 'Wow, he's fast.' This year he is a receiver," Olsen said. "The guy can play. He's not just a one-trick pony, a guy who is just going to run deep. He has a lot of natural instinct to him. He has a good feel."

Fantasy Tip: Brown has big-play speed, and while he may be developing into a more complete receiver, he is unlikely to steal many looks with big targets like Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen and Devin Funchess in town. He is final-round flier at best in seasonal leagues, but he could make a nice high-risk, high-reward gamble in DFS games if one of Carolina's top receivers happens to miss a game during the year.
