Dolphins | Damien Williams leads way in Week 11

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 17:36:32 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams carried 10 times for 78 yards in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he added one reception for 24 yards on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: The rushing numbers are skewed a bit, as one of his runs was good for 69 yards and then he had nine yards on his other nine attempts. Still, it was much better than Kenyan Drake, who was held to four rushing yards on seven carries. The battle for the top RB spot in Miami continues, and Williams easily won this round.

Dolphins | Damien Williams starting in Week 11

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 09:42:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will be the starting running back for Week 11's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will get the starting nod this afternoon even though he has clearly been outplayed by Kenyan Drake recently. Both players have eight receptions over the last two weeks but Williams has 16 carries for 33 rushing yards while Drake has 16 carries for 151 rushing yards and one touchdown in that stretch. Drake should still receive enough touches today to be worthy of consideration as a RB2 or flex option in all fantasy formats, while Williams should be viewed as nothing more than a flex option in PPR leagues only.

Dolphins | Damien Williams to remain involved

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 18:57:26 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will continue to split carries with RB Kenyan Drake, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Williams has managed just 33 yards on 16 carries the last two games while Drake has rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on the same number of carries. Although Williams will remain involved, Drake is the only Miami back worth starting right now.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake stuck in committee

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 18:49:03 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake is worthy of more carries, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen, but Christensen said the formula with Drake and RB Damien Williams will not change.

Fantasy Tip: Although Drake has been the better runner by a wide margin, both he and Williams have received 16 carries each over the last two games. Splitting carries limits Drake's ceiling, but he has done more than enough with his touches to be considered a flex play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Dolphins | Miami's backfield will remain a committee

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 10:12:08 -0800

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will continue to split touches, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Drake has earned the lead role in Miami's backfield, but the Dolphins aren't giving it to him yet. Not only is Drake a bigger playmaker, Williams has only averaged 3.1 yards per carry in his career. The former is a solid RB2 play in a great matchup this week. The latter is more of a PPR flex.

Dolphins | Damien Williams continues struggles on MNF

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:06:21 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams could only manage 19 rushing yards on nine carries in the team's Week 10 loss Monday, Nov. 13, versus the Carolina Panthers. He also had two receptions for 20 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Williams may have received more carries if the game didn't get so out of hand in the second half, but regardless, he's clearly getting outplayed by teammate Kenyan Drake, who had 82 yards on just seven carries. Thus, it's hard to trust Williams right now in any format, as Drake will probably be receiving more work from here on out.

Dolphins | Damien Williams listed as starter

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 16:43:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) is listed as the starting running back against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will share snaps with Kenyan Drake during the game and should be involved in the running and passing game. He can be considered a flex option in point-per-reception leagues but is not a must-start option.

Dolphins | Damien Williams listed as questionable

Sat, 11 Nov 2017 11:40:03 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 11, but is listed as questionable for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Williams should have a good chance to play against the Carolina Panthers after returning to practice Saturday. He would share playing time with Kenyan Drake if he is active and would be involved in the running and passing game. He has recorded 49 rushing yards and 97 receiving yards this season but probably should only be considered as a flex option.

Dolphins | Damien Williams out again

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 14:08:17 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know more about Williams' status after practice Saturday, Nov. 11. Williams received 13 total touches in Week 9 and shared work with Kenyan Drake. He likely would be involved in the running and passing game if he plays in Week 10, but owners may want to use other options in their lineups because of his uncertain status.

Dolphins | Damien Williams out of practice

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 09:20:57 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) is out of practice Thursday, Nov. 9, due to illness.

Fantasy Tip: He should be able to recover in time to play the Carolina Panthers Monday night. It's a rough matchup, though, as they're one of the best teams the last five weeks against the position. He's a flex option in PPR formats.

Dolphins | Adam Gase sees running game making progress

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 10:02:49 -0800

Miami Dolphins RBs Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake combined to average 5.18 yards per carry in a Week 9 loss to the Oakland Raiders, enough to make head coach Adam Gase optimistic about the the running game in general. "I like where our run game is heading. We were able to do a couple things where we popped a big one. ... I think it makes a difference," Gase said.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine one year after Jay Ajayi exploded for 200-plus rushing yards three times that Gase could feel good about his team running for 86, but such is the state of the Dolphins' running game at the moment. Drake busted loose for a 42-yard scamper to make his final numbers look nice (nine carries for 69 yards) while Williams did most of his damage the passing game. It appears this will remain a committee backfield for the foreseeable future.

Dolphins | Damien Williams reaches end zone

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 05:32:53 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams had seven carries for 14 yards and six catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Williams and Kenyan Drake had a pretty close split with Drake having two more carries, but he also lost a fumble. Williams could see more run and is a good RB3 option in PPR leagues.

Dolphins | Damien Williams to see goal line work

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 09:21:49 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will serve as the goal line and third down back, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is a fringe player to own in fantasy, and he mostly serves as depth or Kenyan Drake insurance.

Dolphins | Damien Williams not signing tender

Wed, 03 May 2017 10:25:42 -0700

Miami Dolphins restricted free-agent RB Damien Williams is refusing to sign his $1.8 million tender and has not participated in the team's offseason conditioning program.

Fantasy Tip: With the restricted free-agent deadline in the rear view mirror, Williams' only real choices are to accept the tender or sit out. The Dolphins are also looking for more from second-year back Kenyan Drake, who the team hopes can make some of the big plays in the passing game Williams did last year. It is probably in his best interest to report soon and try to hold off Drake, or he will risk whatever shot he had of serving as Jay Ajayi's backup in 2017.

Dolphins | Damien Williams tendered

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 12:27:33 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent RB Damien Williams was assigned a one-year tender worth $1.797 million Thursday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Williams showed flashes of talent in limited work last year and has a potential role in the passing game. He is, however, no better than a late-round flier in deep fantasy setups.

Dolphins | Damien Williams involved in passing game

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 14:42:19 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams caught two passes for 51 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Williams usually receives limited touches during games and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues despite his Week 16 performance.

Dolphins | Seven touches for Damien Williams

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 18:52:22 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams rushed five times for 29 yards in the Week 9 game against the New York Jets and he added two grabs for 20 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is working as the primary backup to Jay Ajayi, but as long as the starter is running hot Williams is only worth a fantasy roster spot in the deepest of leagues.

Dolphins | Damien Williams to start at RB Thursday

Thu, 29 Sep 2016 16:36:37 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will start in the team's Week 4 game Thursday, Sept. 29, against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: This is pretty surprising, with Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake taking a backseat to the undrafted three-year veteran. No matter who the official starter in the backfield is, though, he's not worth deploying in just about all fantasy leagues, as the Miami running game is one to avoid right now in fantasy while Arian Foster is sidelined.

Dolphins | Damien Williams makes most of touches

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 19:00:58 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams ran once for 15 yards and he had three receptions for 10 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Williams didn't see as many opportunities as Jay Ajayi or Kenyan Drake, but he showed well in his touches and might have bought himself more plays in the future. Right now, though, he is only worth monitoring and not adding to a fantasy roster just yet.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake may go on short-term IR

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 08:40:11 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake (hamstring) may be a candidate for the short-term Injured Reserve list if the team wants to keep RBs Isaiah Pead and Damien Williams on the 53-man roster. Drake has missed most of training camp because of a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: Drake was expected to have a decent role on offense when he was drafted but the addition of Arian Foster and his injury likely have affected the team's plans for him. He could still be a late-round option in deeper point-per-reception leagues if he is healthy but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Dolphins | Damien Williams nearing return

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 20:36:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (undisclosed) is expected to come off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Tuesday, Aug. 2, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is battling for the No. 3 or 4 job on the depth chart. With Jay Ajayi and Arian Foster to suck up a lion's share of the carries, and rookie Kenyan Drake in the mix, Williams isn't a great fantasy option even if he makes the final roster.

Dolphins | Damien Williams out of shape

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 15:09:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (undisclosed) reported to training camp out of shape and is not ready to practice. Head coach Adam Gase is upset with Williams because he was out of shape during offseason workouts as well.

Fantasy Tip: Williams probably will be the No. 4 running back this season but may receive a chance to win the No. 3 job if he performs well during the preseason. He likely will receive limited playing time no matter where he is on the depth chart and will not be a strong option.

Dolphins | Damien Williams is hardest hit

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:00:48 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams was the hardest hit by the addition of RB Arian Foster, as Williams slips from No. 2 to likely No. 3 on the depth chart with the potential to not even make the team unless they keep four backs. That's because RB Kenyan Drake figures to be No. 3 on the depth chart even if Williams is kept.

Fantasy Tip: The team invested a high pick on Drake, and he isn't going anywhere. Williams will be behind Jay Ajayi and Arian Foster, and could potentially be headed to another organization at this point. His fantasy outlook is very murky at this point.

Dolphins | Damien Williams hasn't had chance

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 23:27:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (undisclosed) has been sidelined during minicamp due to an undisclosed injury. Williams appears to be behind RB Kenyan Drake in the race for the backup job behind RB Jay Ajayi. Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said he has been unable to judge Williams due to his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Williams appears to be slotted as the No. 3 running back right now, although that is still subject to change with training camp and the preseason ahead. For now, he isn't worth drafting, but stay tuned as a lot could change once he gets healthy.

Dolphins | Coaches like Damien Williams

Tue, 24 May 2016 21:12:21 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams appears to be the frontrunner for the No. 3 running back job in 2016 because the coaching staff likes him. Williams is expected to be pushed by RB Daniel Thomas for the job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Williams rushed for only 59 yards in 2015 but did catch 21 passes for 142 yards out of the backfield. Williams likely will have a similar role in 2016 if he makes the team. Williams may have some value in point-per-reception leagues but probably can be avoided in most leagues.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller can't explain benching

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 10:59:25 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller said he does not know why he received only two carries in the second half of the team's Week 15 game against the San Diego Chargers. Miller said he is frustrated with his role because he believes he can help the team win. Interim head coach Dan Campbell said the team believed they would receive more mileage from RBs Jay Ajayi and Damien Williams in the second half.

Fantasy Tip: Miller should still receive a majority of the work in the final two games of the season since he leads the team's running backs in running and receiving yards. Owners will need to monitor the situation since Miller's value will drop if he loses touches to the other running backs. Owners could consider using Miller in their lineups but may want to look for more productive options.
