Dolphins | Damien Williams wants to return

Fri, 05 Jan 2018 19:08:16 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but he said he wants to remain with Miami. "I'm confident this is where I want to be," Williams said. "They understand that."

Fantasy Tip: Williams suffered a shoulder injury late in the year, allowing Kenyan Drake to grab the reins in the Miami backfield. If Williams is back with the Dolphins in 2018, he will likely open the year as the No. 2 option behind Drake.

Dolphins | Damien Williams doubtful for finale

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 10:20:13 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) is listed as doubtful for Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming Williams sits, Kenyan Drake will handle the every-down role for the fifth straight game and has a plum matchup, making him a rock-solid RB1 this weekend. Williams is set to hit the free-agent market for the second straight season after setting career highs with 46 carries and 181 rushing yards in 2017.

Fantasy Tip: Williams likely will be sidelined for at least another game, so Kenyan Drake will continue to receive a majority of the work at running back. Dolphins | Damien Williams to miss Week 13

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 10:51:09 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 13 versus the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: This was expected after he injured his left shoulder and did not return in Week 12 against the New England Patriots. Kenyan Drake figures to assume the bulk of the workload in his absence and should be a capable RB2 in PPR given how much work he figures to get in the passing game.

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, due to a shoulder injury suffered in Week 12.

Dolphins | Damien Williams a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 09:26:44 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, but is considered day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins will likely call up De'Veon Smith from the practice squad fairly soon, as Williams should be considered a longshot to play in Week 13 and third-stringer Senorise Perry is still in the concussion protocol behind Kenyan Drake, who has an extensive injury history himself. Drake could very well be featured versus the Denver Broncos, but the matchup is an unfavorable one at best even if volume is in his favor.

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 06:24:34 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) is expected to miss Week 13, and potentially longer, with a shoulder injury suffered Sunday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Senorise Perry (concussion) was also injured, and Kenyan Drake was the last running back available. He figures to see the bulk of the work next week, but the team should pick up a back or two to divvy up some of the work. Drake will be a flex play against a Denver Broncos team that can't move the football next week.

Dolphins | Damien Williams totals 52 yards

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 16:38:19 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams rushed eight times for a team-high 38 yards in Week 12 against the New England Patriots and he tacked on 14 yards on three receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is averaging 6.4 yards per rush over the past two games, and he has 154 total yards scrimmage. That's not great, but he is at least worthy of fantasy consideration as a RB3 or flex play heading into Week 13.

Dolphins | Shoulder injury for Damien Williams

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 12:41:52 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in Week 12 and will not return to the game.

Fantasy Tip: Williams has been sharing playing time with Kenyan Drake over the last few weeks, but Drake likely would receive most of the work if Williams misses an extended period of time. Drake could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

Dolphins | Damien Williams leads way in Week 11

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 17:36:32 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams carried 10 times for 78 yards in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he added one reception for 24 yards on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: The rushing numbers are skewed a bit, as one of his runs was good for 69 yards and then he had nine yards on his other nine attempts. Still, it was much better than Kenyan Drake, who was held to four rushing yards on seven carries. The battle for the top RB spot in Miami continues, and Williams easily won this round.

Dolphins | Damien Williams starting in Week 11

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 09:42:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will be the starting running back for Week 11's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will get the starting nod this afternoon even though he has clearly been outplayed by Kenyan Drake recently. Both players have eight receptions over the last two weeks but Williams has 16 carries for 33 rushing yards while Drake has 16 carries for 151 rushing yards and one touchdown in that stretch. Drake should still receive enough touches today to be worthy of consideration as a RB2 or flex option in all fantasy formats, while Williams should be viewed as nothing more than a flex option in PPR leagues only.

Dolphins | Damien Williams to remain involved

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 18:57:26 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams will continue to split carries with RB Kenyan Drake, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Williams has managed just 33 yards on 16 carries the last two games while Drake has rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on the same number of carries. Although Williams will remain involved, Drake is the only Miami back worth starting right now.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake stuck in committee

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 18:49:03 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake is worthy of more carries, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen, but Christensen said the formula with Drake and RB Damien Williams will not change.

Fantasy Tip: Although Drake has been the better runner by a wide margin, both he and Williams have received 16 carries each over the last two games. Splitting carries limits Drake's ceiling, but he has done more than enough with his touches to be considered a flex play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Dolphins | Miami's backfield will remain a committee

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 10:12:08 -0800

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams will continue to split touches, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Fantasy Tip: Drake has earned the lead role in Miami's backfield, but the Dolphins aren't giving it to him yet. Not only is Drake a bigger playmaker, Williams has only averaged 3.1 yards per carry in his career. The former is a solid RB2 play in a great matchup this week. The latter is more of a PPR flex.

Dolphins | Damien Williams continues struggles on MNF

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 22:06:21 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams could only manage 19 rushing yards on nine carries in the team's Week 10 loss Monday, Nov. 13, versus the Carolina Panthers. He also had two receptions for 20 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Williams may have received more carries if the game didn't get so out of hand in the second half, but regardless, he's clearly getting outplayed by teammate Kenyan Drake, who had 82 yards on just seven carries. Thus, it's hard to trust Williams right now in any format, as Drake will probably be receiving more work from here on out.

Dolphins | Damien Williams listed as starter

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 16:43:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) is listed as the starting running back against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will share snaps with Kenyan Drake during the game and should be involved in the running and passing game. He can be considered a flex option in point-per-reception leagues but is not a must-start option.

Sat, 11 Nov 2017 11:40:03 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 11, but is listed as questionable for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Williams should have a good chance to play against the Carolina Panthers after returning to practice Saturday. He would share playing time with Kenyan Drake if he is active and would be involved in the running and passing game. He has recorded 49 rushing yards and 97 receiving yards this season but probably should only be considered as a flex option.

Dolphins | Damien Williams out again

Fri, 10 Nov 2017 14:08:17 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should know more about Williams' status after practice Saturday, Nov. 11. Williams received 13 total touches in Week 9 and shared work with Kenyan Drake. He likely would be involved in the running and passing game if he plays in Week 10, but owners may want to use other options in their lineups because of his uncertain status.

Dolphins | Damien Williams out of practice

Thu, 09 Nov 2017 09:20:57 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (illness) is out of practice Thursday, Nov. 9, due to illness.

Fantasy Tip: He should be able to recover in time to play the Carolina Panthers Monday night. It's a rough matchup, though, as they're one of the best teams the last five weeks against the position. He's a flex option in PPR formats.

Dolphins | Adam Gase sees running game making progress

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 10:02:49 -0800

Miami Dolphins RBs Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake combined to average 5.18 yards per carry in a Week 9 loss to the Oakland Raiders, enough to make head coach Adam Gase optimistic about the the running game in general. "I like where our run game is heading. We were able to do a couple things where we popped a big one. ... I think it makes a difference," Gase said.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to imagine one year after Jay Ajayi exploded for 200-plus rushing yards three times that Gase could feel good about his team running for 86, but such is the state of the Dolphins' running game at the moment. Drake busted loose for a 42-yard scamper to make his final numbers look nice (nine carries for 69 yards) while Williams did most of his damage the passing game. It appears this will remain a committee backfield for the foreseeable future.

Dolphins | Damien Williams reaches end zone

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 05:32:53 -0800

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams had seven carries for 14 yards and six catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Williams and Kenyan Drake had a pretty close split with Drake having two more carries, but he also lost a fumble. Williams could see more run and is a good RB3 option in PPR leagues.
