49ers | Carlos Hyde scores twice

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 18:20:02 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde finished with 13 carries for 28 yards and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 47 yards in a 26-24 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has struggled running the ball the last two games, but he continues to see enough touches to deliver RB2 production most weeks. Expect more of the same against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7.

49ers | Carlos Hyde on the block?

Sat, 14 Oct 2017 19:46:52 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde has been mentioned in trade talks, according to a general manager, and the same general manager said the 49ers are open to trading any veteran player for the right price.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has been receiving plenty of touches for the 49ers this year, so a change of scenery might not be the best thing for his fantasy value. For now, he remains a volume-based RB2 heading into a Week 6 matchup with the Washington Redskins.

49ers | San Francisco to use hot hand at RB

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 17:17:20 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde will be the first running back to play in games and will be followed by RB Matt Breida, then the team will use the hot hand approach for the rest of the game, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was off to a good start to the season but rushed for only 11 yards on eight carries during the Week 5 game. Breida rushed for 49 yards on 10 carries and appears to be in line for a bigger role in the offense. It will be hard for fantasy owners to trust either player since their roles can change each week, so Hyde and Breida probably should not be more than flex options moving forward.

49ers | Carlos Hyde does nowhere in Indy

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 19:40:24 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed eight times for just 11 yards in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts and he added just one catch for seven yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was going nowhere, so Matt Breida saw a little more work and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. It might just be a temporary situation, but it's worth keeping an eye on into Week 6.

49ers | Carlos Hyde could receive extension

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 18:41:34 -0700

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said negotiations have started with impending free agents, and he mentioned FS Eric Reid and RB Carlos Hyde while discussing the topic.

Fantasy Tip: Shanahan didn't explicitly say extension talks with Hyde have begun, but given the running back's strong start to the year, it would make sense for the 49ers to entertain signing him beyond the year. Hyde is a RB1 with a favorable matchup with the Indianapolis Colts on tap in Week 5.

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 18:07:49 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) was limited at practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: This is just done in order to preserve Hyde's health. In other words, he's unquestionably going to be out there on Sunday against the Colts and will have his usual RB1 tag in a solid matchup. The 27-year-old is out to a nice start in 2017.

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 18:06:46 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was questionable going into last Sunday's tilt, but played through the ailment and looked fine. He's been solid thus far, averaging more than 80 rushing yards per game while also reeling in 17 catches for 88 yards to go with his two scores. He'll be in there for Week 5, when he has a favorable matchup on tap with the Colts.

49ers | Carlos Hyde totals 95 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 20:24:09 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 16 times for 68 yards in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals and he tacked on five receptions for 27 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde didn't seem to show any ill effects of the hip injury which had him listed on the injury report this week, as he had his normal workload and second-most touches of the season. He remains a useful low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play heading into Week 5 at Indianapolis.

49ers | Carlos Hyde active

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 11:41:54 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde may not receive his normal workload because of the injury but should see most of the work at running back. He is a bit of a risky option for owners but can be a No. 2 running back in all leagues.

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 05:58:51 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) is expected to play in Week 4's game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source.

49ers | Carlos Hyde a game-time decision

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 19:36:32 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) will be a game-time decision against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: If Hyde plays, his steady role in the offense makes him a volume-based RB2 against a solid Arizona run defense. However, the 49ers do play later in the day, so have a backup plan in place.

49ers | Carlos Hyde questionable for Week 4

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 14:03:39 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be in uniform this week, but owners should check the inactive list to make sure. He has played well in the last two games and will continue to be a big part of the team's offensive scheme. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde limited again Thursday

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 16:14:21 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be all systems go for Week 4, and while it won't be the easiest of matchups in Arizona on Sunday, he's worth rolling with regardless. The former Ohio State product is out to an excellent beginning in 2017, having already picked up 253 rushing yards and a pair of scores on 49 carries. He's also hauled in 12 receptions in the first three games as well.

49ers | Carlos Hyde listed as limited

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 16:25:27 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is expected to be limited all week but likely will be on the field against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. He has rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games and has also had a role in the passing game. Owners in most leagues should consider him a No. 2 fantasy running back.

49ers | Carlos Hyde returns

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 18:38:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) returned against the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde's fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief. Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida split carries while Hyde was out, so both backs could warrant attention if Hyde does miss time going forward.

49ers | Carlos Hyde suffers injury

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 17:41:17 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (hip) left the team's Week 3 game early because of a hip injury and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check for an update on Hyde's status after the game to see if he will miss more time. Matt Breida probably would be the starting running back if Hyde was sidelined for multiple weeks and could be at least a flex option in leagues.

49ers | Big game for Carlos Hyde

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 20:41:50 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde finished with 15 carries for 124 yards and three catches for 19 yards in a 12-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Despite some anemic performances form the offense overall, Hyde is off to a strong start. He looks like a high-end RB2 heading into a Week 3 meeting with the Rams.

49ers | Carlos Hyde decent when called upon

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 19:44:46 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed nine times for 45 yards in the Week 1 game against the Panthers and he added six catches for 32 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was pretty productive despite the fact his team mustered just three points in the opener. The sledding should be tough again in Week 2 against the Seahawks at Century Link Field, but Hyde remains a useful RB2 or flex play in most fantasy formats.

49ers | Carlos Hyde a 'beast' in training camp

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 09:54:14 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde reportedly came into training camp in the best shape of his life, has been a "beast" in practice and is a player generating a ton of optimism in training camp as someone they view as the "bell-cow of their offense," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: While this report seems very hyperbolic in nature, the 49ers brass - specifically general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan - have also expressed how much Hyde has changed their minds as well. Hyde's durability concerns are well-documented, but if he turns out to be a fit for Shanahan's outside-zone running scheme and is given the bulk of the carries, he certainly has high-end RB2 upside.

49ers | Carlos Hyde in 'good position' to start

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 09:09:10 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde had a good first week of practices and looks to be adapting better and better to new head coach Kyle Shanahan's running scheme, putting him in a good position to begin the season as the team's starting running back.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has done well to get back in the good graces of the 49ers' brass like general manager John Lynch and Shanahan, who appeared ready to move on from him earlier this summer. While durability remains an issue for Hyde, perhaps the fact he is reportedly in tip-top shape will help him in that regard. Nevertheless, he is a hard-to-trust RB2 in fantasy.

49ers | Carlos Hyde playing his way into role?

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 18:24:18 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde has taken his performance to "another level" during training camp and "has given himself a chance to have a good season," head coach Kyle Shanahan said Sunday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Hyde is winning over Shanahan, and he could deliver RB2 production as the lead back. There has been plenty of talk this offseason about Hyde's potential demise, but he could end up being a bargain if the speculation causes him to slide into the middle rounds.

49ers | Carlos Hyde in good shape

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:01:26 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde reported to training camp at 228 pounds. He said he's in the best shape of his career and that he's the lightest he's been since high school. New general manager John Lynch has taken notice, too, saying Hyde looks tremendous and that he has dedicated himself to football.

Fantasy Tip: There has been a lot of hype this offseason surrounding rookie RB Joe Williams. Hyde has been somewhat forgotten amidst the entry of the new regime, giving him some nice fantasy value as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2. That being said, Williams is a recommended handcuff in the middle to later rounds for those who draft Hyde.

49ers | Carlos Hyde could be a surprise cut?

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 21:39:03 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde could be a surprise cut before the start of the regular season, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Fantasy Tip: While this would be a questionable move considering Hyde's talents, it's not too far-fetched with a new head coach and general manager in town, especially since the latter pairing made it a priority to draft rookie running back Joe Williams. They also brought in Tim Hightower, so cutting Hyde is definitely a possibility. Owners need to wait and see how this plays out in training camp.

49ers | Carlos Hyde must earning starting job

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 12:32:14 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde will need to earn his starting job over rookie RB Joe Williams, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com. Maiocco envisions a committee approach with RB Tim Hightower also being involved.

Fantasy Tip: Williams does have some upside heading into his first year, but Hyde will start as long as he is in good health. Committees obviously hurt fantasy value, but Hyde remains a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 candidate.

49ers | Carlos Hyde a bad fit?

Fri, 30 Jun 2017 21:15:48 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde averaged 2.5 yards per carry last season on runs designed to go outside the tackles, and Grant Cohn of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat believes Hyde is a bad fit for an offense run by head coach Kyle Shanahan, who calls more runs outside the tackles than any other coach in the league.

Fantasy Tip: Whether Hyde can be productive in Shanahan's offense remains to be seen, but he should have the first crack at leading the backfield and can be drafted as a RB2.

49ers | Joe Williams has chance to start in 2017

Wed, 17 May 2017 10:46:28 -0700

San Francisco 49ers fourth-round pick RB Joe Williams has a "legitimate chance" to "immediately unseat" RB Carlos Hyde as the team's top running back this season, according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Kyle Shanahan convinced general manager John Lynch to draft Williams, even after Lynch initially left him off the draft board. Hyde also has been incredibly injury-prone and is in the final year of his rookie contract and the team's new brass isn't tied to him in any way, so they aren't going to start Hyde over "their guy" unless he is clearly the better option. Williams will almost certainly make some starts in 2017 and should be considered a steal in rookie drafts if he lasts very far into the second round.

49ers | Carlos Hyde still has support

Fri, 14 Apr 2017 19:10:16 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde can be a "highly productive player," according to general manager John Lynch, and Lynch said he hopes Hyde approaches the season like a player that has something to prove.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries keep derailing Hyde, but he is a solid RB2 when healthy.

49ers | Carlos Hyde on the outs?

Wed, 12 Apr 2017 07:41:59 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) may have the front office ready to give up on him due to repeated injuries, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has plenty of tools, but he just can't keep them sharp enough to stay on the field. He's an RB2 if he works his way back into the good graces.

49ers | Carlos Hyde able to run and cut

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 21:56:48 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) said that he is back to running again. However, he added: "I can cut, just not all the way I like to run, but I'm making improvement." He'll have a "run test" Tuesday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: When he's healthy, Hyde has displayed dynamic RB1 potential and is in one of the few situations around the NFL where he's the clear lead back. Unfortunately, health has been the 25-year-old's biggest issue, as he's missed 12 games over the past two years. Owners should monitor Hyde's health going into the new season because if he's at 100 percent, he'll be worth investing in on draft day.

49ers | No rushing TDs for Carlos Hyde after October

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 10:01:16 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde scored six times as a rusher in September and October, but he failed to find the end zone on the ground after that, settling instead for three receiving touchdowns over that time. In addition, five of Hyde's rushing scores came against NFC West division rivals.

Fantasy Tip: Four of his rushing TDs came in games decided by 15 points or more, so there is a flukish component to his final line. Hyde ran for 394 yards on 63 carries in December alone after rushing for 449 yards on 109 attempts in September and October combined. There's no question Hyde thrived in Chip Kelly's up-tempo, shotgun-heavy offense, but he should maintain similar fantasy value as the likely unquestioned workhorse in new head coach Kyle Shanahan's running back-friendly offense.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has room to grow

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 20:38:48 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is a "work in progress," according to former running backs coach Tom Rathman. "He's moving in the right direction," Rathman said. "He still has some growing to do as a football player to get to the level of player that everybody wants to be."

Fantasy Tip: Hyde's career has been slowed by injuries, but he scored nine times and nearly rushed for 1,000 yards in 13 games last season. As the clear lead back in San Francisco, Hyde will be a volume-based, low-end RB1 in 2017.

49ers | Shaun Draughn expected to start finale

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 15:14:05 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn is in line to get the start in Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks with Carlos Hyde ruled out due to a left MCL sprain.

Fantasy Tip: The spot against Seattle isn't exactly a great one for Draughn, but this news does solidify him as the clear No. 2 option in San Francisco, in case last week's 16 touches following Hyde's injury didn't do that already. Draughn is a fine receiver out of the backfield and could be a sneaky flex play in DFS as well as Week 17 championship games as a result.

49ers | Carlos Hyde placed on IR

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 14:50:49 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was the one bright spot for the 49ers in a tumultuous 2016 season, totaling over 1,100 total yards and nine touchdowns through 13 games. If he can get back to full health before next season then he'll be a borderline RB1 fantasy draft pick.

49ers | Carlos Hyde won't need surgery

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 13:30:20 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) will not need surgery on his torn medial collateral ligament.

Fantasy Tip: It's good long-term news for Hyde, but he won't be playing in Week 17 anyway. Shaun Draughn should be the primary running back for the 49ers next week. He's a sleeper starting option in PPR leagues only versus a better than average Seattle Seahawks rush defense.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has torn MCL

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 15:03:55 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in Week 16 and will not be able to play in Week 17, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be fine for next season and probably will be the starting running back again for the 49ers. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in 2017. Shaun Draughn probably will receive most of the carries in Week 17 but probably should only be considered a flex option in deeper leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde to undergo MRI exam

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 08:30:31 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) will undergo an MRI exam on his left knee Sunday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is holding out hope that he will be able to play in the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 1. The 25-year-old is just 12 yards shy of reaching 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. Shaun Draughn and DuJuan Harris would likely receive the bulk of the carries in Week 17 if Hyde is deactivated.

49ers | Carlos Hyde taken to locker room

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:53:59 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) left the Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Rams after he was tackled low on a reception. He fumbled and remained on the ground before being taken immediately to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was hit low at the knees and it did not look good, but it's early. The source and severity of his injury is not yet known. When we know more we'll pass it along. Shaun Draughn will be the main beneficiary down the stretch if Hyde cannot return.

49ers | Carlos Hyde rumbles for 71 yards

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 22:52:16 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for 71 yards in the Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also had one catch for six yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde hasn't run for a touchdown since Week 5 against Arizona, but he has run for at least 65 yards in each of his past five games. That's impressive considering the 49ers have dropped 13 games in a row and are usually behind early, forcing them to pass more.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has big day

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 05:32:25 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 17 times for 193 yards and added a seven-yard touchdown catch Sunday, Dec. 11, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Health and the offensive line have been Hyde's kryptonite, but he looks like an RB1 candidate in the making. He isn't there quite yet, but he's knocking on the door as a high-end RB2.

49ers | Carlos Hyde runs well in Week 13

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 13:22:42 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 92 yards on 20 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 13. He also caught one pass for six yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has been a reliable player for the 49ers this season but has gone five games without a touchdown. He will continue to receive plenty of carries moving forward and should be a fine No. 2 running back in most leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde productive

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 14:05:50 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for 65 yards and caught five passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: San Fran's defense often limits Hyde's rushing attempts, but being more involved in the passing game is a good sign. The 49ers have a positive schedule the rest of the way. Hyde is an RB2 in most setups

49ers | Carlos Hyde the main focus

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 06:11:51 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is the main focal point of the offense, according to head coach Chip Kelly. "It's just overall the way our team is built," Kelly said. "We're built to run the football. Carlos is the main focus of what we're doing offensively."

Fantasy Tip: While he may be the focal point, he is averaging a career-low 3.8 yards per carry. On the same note, he has set a career high with six touchdowns. He has a tough matchup in Week 12 with the Miami Dolphins among the better teams against the position the last five weeks. Hyde is a good flex option or a low-end RB2.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 19 times for 86 yards in the Week 11 game against the New England Patriots and he added three receptions for 24 yards on his three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde had a decent stat line and he remains a good RB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Miami. He will face a Dolphins rush defense ranking in the bottom third of the NFL.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was limited to only 14 yards in his last game and will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense this week. He should still receive a majority of the carries for the 49ers and can be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be healthy enough to resume his role as lead back in Week 11, but a tough matchup against the Patriots makes him a low-end RB2 or flex option.

49ers | Carlos Hyde goes nowhere fast

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 21:49:09 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for just 14 yards in the Week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted once in the pass game but did not have any catches.

Fantasy Tip: It was a terrible day for Hyde and his fantasy owners. Things do not figure to get much better against the New England Patriots in Week 11, another team with an above-average rush defense.

49ers | DuJuan Harris won't disappear from game plan

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 06:50:27 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is likely to have a decent role in the offense during Week 10's game against the Arizona Cardinals, even though RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is expected to play.

Fantasy Tip: Harris had 142 combined yards and a touchdown in Week 9 versus the New Orleans Saints and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season. He has emerged as the clear handcuff to Hyde and is worth rostering in the majority of seasonal leagues, especially in PPR formats.
