49ers | Shaun Draughn expected to start finale

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 15:14:05 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Shaun Draughn is in line to get the start in Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks with Carlos Hyde ruled out due to a left MCL sprain.

Fantasy Tip: The spot against Seattle isn't exactly a great one for Draughn, but this news does solidify him as the clear No. 2 option in San Francisco, in case last week's 16 touches following Hyde's injury didn't do that already. Draughn is a fine receiver out of the backfield and could be a sneaky flex play in DFS as well as Week 17 championship games as a result.

49ers | Carlos Hyde placed on IR

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 14:50:49 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was the one bright spot for the 49ers in a tumultuous 2016 season, totaling over 1,100 total yards and nine touchdowns through 13 games. If he can get back to full health before next season then he'll be a borderline RB1 fantasy draft pick.

49ers | Carlos Hyde won't need surgery

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 13:30:20 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) will not need surgery on his torn medial collateral ligament.

Fantasy Tip: It's good long-term news for Hyde, but he won't be playing in Week 17 anyway. Shaun Draughn should be the primary running back for the 49ers next week. He's a sleeper starting option in PPR leagues only versus a better than average Seattle Seahawks rush defense.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has torn MCL

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 15:03:55 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in Week 16 and will not be able to play in Week 17, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be fine for next season and probably will be the starting running back again for the 49ers. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in 2017. Shaun Draughn probably will receive most of the carries in Week 17 but probably should only be considered a flex option in deeper leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde to undergo MRI exam

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 08:30:31 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) will undergo an MRI exam on his left knee Sunday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is holding out hope that he will be able to play in the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 1. The 25-year-old is just 12 yards shy of reaching 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. Shaun Draughn and DuJuan Harris would likely receive the bulk of the carries in Week 17 if Hyde is deactivated.

49ers | Carlos Hyde taken to locker room

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:53:59 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) left the Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Rams after he was tackled low on a reception. He fumbled and remained on the ground before being taken immediately to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was hit low at the knees and it did not look good, but it's early. The source and severity of his injury is not yet known. When we know more we'll pass it along. Shaun Draughn will be the main beneficiary down the stretch if Hyde cannot return.

49ers | Carlos Hyde rumbles for 71 yards

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 22:52:16 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for 71 yards in the Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also had one catch for six yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde hasn't run for a touchdown since Week 5 against Arizona, but he has run for at least 65 yards in each of his past five games. That's impressive considering the 49ers have dropped 13 games in a row and are usually behind early, forcing them to pass more.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has big day

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 05:32:25 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 17 times for 193 yards and added a seven-yard touchdown catch Sunday, Dec. 11, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Health and the offensive line have been Hyde's kryptonite, but he looks like an RB1 candidate in the making. He isn't there quite yet, but he's knocking on the door as a high-end RB2.

49ers | Carlos Hyde runs well in Week 13

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 13:22:42 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 92 yards on 20 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 13. He also caught one pass for six yards in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has been a reliable player for the 49ers this season but has gone five games without a touchdown. He will continue to receive plenty of carries moving forward and should be a fine No. 2 running back in most leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde productive

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 14:05:50 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for 65 yards and caught five passes for 30 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: San Fran's defense often limits Hyde's rushing attempts, but being more involved in the passing game is a good sign. The 49ers have a positive schedule the rest of the way. Hyde is an RB2 in most setups

49ers | Carlos Hyde the main focus

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 06:11:51 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is the main focal point of the offense, according to head coach Chip Kelly. "It's just overall the way our team is built," Kelly said. "We're built to run the football. Carlos is the main focus of what we're doing offensively."

Fantasy Tip: While he may be the focal point, he is averaging a career-low 3.8 yards per carry. On the same note, he has set a career high with six touchdowns. He has a tough matchup in Week 12 with the Miami Dolphins among the better teams against the position the last five weeks. Hyde is a good flex option or a low-end RB2.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 19 times for 86 yards in the Week 11 game against the New England Patriots and he added three receptions for 24 yards on his three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde had a decent stat line and he remains a good RB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Miami. He will face a Dolphins rush defense ranking in the bottom third of the NFL.

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 16:58:21 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was limited to only 14 yards in his last game and will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense this week. He should still receive a majority of the carries for the 49ers and can be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 19:28:15 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should be healthy enough to resume his role as lead back in Week 11, but a tough matchup against the Patriots makes him a low-end RB2 or flex option.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was limited to only 14 yards in his last game and has only one 100-yard game this season. He probably will receive a majority of the carries against the New England Patriots in Week 11 and can be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde goes nowhere fast

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 21:49:09 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 13 times for just 14 yards in the Week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted once in the pass game but did not have any catches.

Fantasy Tip: It was a terrible day for Hyde and his fantasy owners. Things do not figure to get much better against the New England Patriots in Week 11, another team with an above-average rush defense.

49ers | DuJuan Harris won't disappear from game plan

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 06:50:27 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is likely to have a decent role in the offense during Week 10's game against the Arizona Cardinals, even though RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is expected to play.

Fantasy Tip: Harris had 142 combined yards and a touchdown in Week 9 versus the New Orleans Saints and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry this season. He has emerged as the clear handcuff to Hyde and is worth rostering in the majority of seasonal leagues, especially in PPR formats.

49ers | Carlos Hyde likely to play

Sat, 12 Nov 2016 23:37:33 -0800

Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is expected to be active against the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Arizona hasn't been a stifling run defense, but it's hard to imagine Chip Kelly leaning too hard on Hyde this week, especially given how well DuJuan Harris played against the Saints. At best Hyde is a risky flex play.

49ers | Carlos Hyde questionable for Week 10

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 17:21:44 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 11, and he is listed as questionable for the Week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: If he is active, Hyde is facing the 16th-ranked rush defense. If he is able to play he is only worth using as a flex fantasy option in leagues of 12 or more teams as he eases back into action.

49ers | Carlos Hyde listed as questionable

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 14:17:34 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is questionable to play in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers have stated they plan on updating Hyde's status Saturday, so owners should have plenty of time to react accordingly. DuJuan Harris has emerged as the handcuff in this backfield and is worth starting in fantasy as a RB2 who could benefit from some garbage time should Hyde sit out.

49ers | Carlos Hyde still limited

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 18:45:36 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) remained a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

49ers | Carlos Hyde decision coming Saturday

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 08:03:49 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) will have a decision made on his status after practice Saturday, Nov. 12. "He'll go through just like he did last week," 49ers coach Chip Kelly said. "He's in a blue jersey. He won't get hit. He'll go through. It's really range of motion and Carlos' comfort level and that decision will be made after Saturday going through training with him."

Fantasy Tip: Hyde would be a flex option with a tough matchup against the Arizona Cardinals if he suits up.

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 13:20:58 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde continues to wear a no-contact jersey, and his status for Week 10 will be known later in the week. He has rushed for at least 74 yards in three of the last four games he has played and has six touchdowns on the season. He would be a No. 2 running back if he plays, but owners will need other options available in case he misses another game.

49ers | Carlos Hyde will be limited at practice

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:04:32 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) will wear a no-contact jersey during practice this week. Head coach Chip Kelly said a decision on Hyde's availability for Week 10 will be made at the end of the week.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has missed the last few games because of the shoulder injury and is still not ready to take contact. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation during the week, but he may be limited if he plays this week. Owners may want to look for healthier options to use in their lineups.

49ers | Still no contact for Carlos Hyde

Tue, 08 Nov 2016 12:14:59 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is still wearing a non-contact jersey in practice. He has not played since Week 6 while nursing a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: DuJuan Harris filled Hyde's void nicely last week and would likely start again if Hyde were to miss another game. The first positive sign will be when Hyde sheds the non-contact jersey, but even then he may be iffy for Week 10. Keep tabs on his status, but be prepared to pick up Harris if necessary.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde had been listed as questionable on the injury report after participating in practice on a limited basis throughout the week. 49ers | Carlos Hyde on track to play?

Tue, 01 Nov 2016 17:52:30 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) appears on track to play against the New Orleans Saints this week, according to Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. Hyde wore a non-contact jersey in practice Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Hyde will be 100 percent come this weekend remains to be seen. If he's able to practice with contact this week then that will be promising. If he's limited at all then Shaun Draughn, DuJuan Harris and/or Mike Davis could see more playing time. Hyde has a heck of a matchup against the Saints if he plays. He'll be in RB2 territory if he's active.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was wearing a non-contact jersey in practice Tuesday, Nov. 1. Hyde has not practiced the last two weeks as he has been recovering from a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has a really good matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9, but he may not be fully recovered in time to take advantage of it. Keep tabs on Hyde to see if he sheds the non-contact jersey and what his practice status is. Shaun Draughn would be the next best bet if Hyde misses another game.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) said Wednesday, Oct. 19, that he expects to miss just one game. "It's definitely not long term, which is good," Hyde said. He expects to return in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints after the team's bye in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: With Hyde sidelined it will be Shaun Draughn and Mike Davis sidelined. Avoid Hyde until he is healthy and can make it through a full game without any setbacks.

49ers | Carlos Hyde expected to miss Week 7

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 11:14:18 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, and is not expected to play in Week 7. RBs Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn likely would split carries if Hyde is ruled out.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Davis nor Draughn has posted great numbers so far this season, but both should see some playing time in Week 7. Owners in deeper leagues could consider using Draughn as a flex option, while Davis could be a wild card for owners in daily fantasy leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde spotted with arm in sling

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 11:00:19 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) headed out to practice Tuesday, Oct. 18, with his arm in a sling. Hyde sustained a shoulder injury in a Week 6 loss versus the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde played a season-low 32 snaps in Week 6 but returned to the game after suffering the injury, which would seem to bode well for his ability to play in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mike Davis saw a season-high 24 snaps while presumed handcuff Shaun Draughn logged only five, possibly suggesting Davis has overtaken Draughn as the main backup. As such, Davis is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues for the injury-prone Hyde.

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 13:38:41 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 52 yards on 14 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde had his lowest yard total since Week 2 but will continue to receive most of the carries moving forward. He has scored six touchdowns so far this season and should be a No. 2 running back for most owners.

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 12:40:53 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the team's Week 6 game but was able to return.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Hyde should be fine, but owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if there is any news after the game. Hyde has been a very good fantasy player over the first five weeks of the season and should be at least a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde was fined $9,115 by the National Football League for executing a front double biceps pose after making a seven-yard catch during Week 5's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is averaging four yards per carry and has six touchdowns through his first five games this year, although he hasn't made many explosive plays. He should be viewed as a solid RB2 option for Week 6's game versus the Buffalo Bills.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde finished with 22 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown, his sixth of the year, and added six catches for 36 yards in a 33-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 20:16:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde will face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4, and LB Sean Lee said stopping Hyde is Dallas' top priority.

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 04:45:58 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 103 yards and scored twice Sunday, Sept. 25, in a 37-18 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: The fact Hyde had two scores against this defense is encouraging. Right about now Hyde is the only thing going right with this offense. It looks like Hyde is safe to use as an RB2 or RB3 option since he was able to run against Seattle.

49ers | Carlos Hyde unhappy with Week 2 effort

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 09:20:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde believes a lack of patience contributed heavily to a 14-carry, 34-yard performance in a loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Hyde also lost the fumble early, which led to Carolina's first touchdown. "What I saw was me not performing well. I come off a good week and then I perform that way, (it's) just unacceptable. I have to get better. I have to do better. I have to not put the ball on the ground. I'll get better. I have to," Hyde said.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard for owners to get down on Hyde considering the quality of defense he was facing in the Panthers. Shaun Draughn wasn't any better either, finishing with 21 yards on nine carries. Hyde could be in for another long day next weekend as the 49ers visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hyde should be considered a low-ceiling RB2 for that matchup.

49ers | Carlos Hyde bottled up in loss

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:21:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde carried 14 times for 34 yards in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers, and he added three receptions for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde didn't do much to endear himself to fantasy owners, but he faced a difficult run defense and his team abandoned the run after falling behind by a sizable margin. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Hyde faces another quality run defense in Seattle in Week 3. He remains a low-end RB2 for that matchup.

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 22:33:23 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 23 times for 88 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde shined on Monday Night Football last year against Minnesota, too, as there is something about the lights he seems to like. As long as he can stay healthy he could be a strong WR2 in all fantasy leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde not on injury report

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 15:38:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) is not on the injury report for the team's season opener Monday, September 12.

Fantasy Tip: Despite sustaining a concussion at the end of August, this should ensure there are no concerns over his availability in Week 1, saving his fantasy owners from a potential headache to begin the season. Considering his anticipated heavy volume in a Chip Kelly offense, Hyde is worth starting in all formats, and has the potential to end up in the upper echelon this season for fantasy running backs.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has full practice

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 13:10:50 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Looks like it's all systems go for Hyde in Week 1. He faces a tough test against the Los Angeles Rams, though. The Rams only surrendered six rushing touchdowns to running backs last season with one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. Hyde is a low-end RB2 play, but expectations should be lowered.

49ers | Carlos Hyde cleared for football activity

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 10:15:50 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) was cleared for football activity and wore a blue no-contact jersey during practice Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: This is obviously a positive for Hyde and his fantasy owners. However, a Week 1 date with the Los Angeles Rams doesn't set up well for Hyde. The Rams allowed just seven rushing touchdowns last year, which was the third fewest in the league. Looking at Hyde's yearly projection, he averaged just 3.39 yards per carry after Week 1 in 2015 and should face a lot of negative gamescript in 2016 with San Francisco likely to be a basement dweller.
