49ers | Carlos Hyde has Dallas' attention

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 20:16:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde will face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4, and LB Sean Lee said stopping Hyde is Dallas' top priority.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys are allowing 4.8 yards per rush, so Hyde should be safe to deploy as a RB2 in Week 4.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has 100-yard game

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 04:45:58 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 103 yards and scored twice Sunday, Sept. 25, in a 37-18 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: The fact Hyde had two scores against this defense is encouraging. Right about now Hyde is the only thing going right with this offense. It looks like Hyde is safe to use as an RB2 or RB3 option since he was able to run against Seattle.

49ers | Carlos Hyde unhappy with Week 2 effort

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 09:20:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde believes a lack of patience contributed heavily to a 14-carry, 34-yard performance in a loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Hyde also lost the fumble early, which led to Carolina's first touchdown. "What I saw was me not performing well. I come off a good week and then I perform that way, (it's) just unacceptable. I have to get better. I have to do better. I have to not put the ball on the ground. I'll get better. I have to," Hyde said.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard for owners to get down on Hyde considering the quality of defense he was facing in the Panthers. Shaun Draughn wasn't any better either, finishing with 21 yards on nine carries. Hyde could be in for another long day next weekend as the 49ers visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hyde should be considered a low-ceiling RB2 for that matchup.

49ers | Carlos Hyde bottled up in loss

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:21:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde carried 14 times for 34 yards in the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers, and he added three receptions for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde didn't do much to endear himself to fantasy owners, but he faced a difficult run defense and his team abandoned the run after falling behind by a sizable margin. Unfortunately for fantasy owners Hyde faces another quality run defense in Seattle in Week 3. He remains a low-end RB2 for that matchup.

49ers | Carlos Hyde posted 88 yards, two scores

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 22:33:23 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed 23 times for 88 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde shined on Monday Night Football last year against Minnesota, too, as there is something about the lights he seems to like. As long as he can stay healthy he could be a strong WR2 in all fantasy leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde not on injury report

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 15:38:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) is not on the injury report for the team's season opener Monday, September 12.

Fantasy Tip: Despite sustaining a concussion at the end of August, this should ensure there are no concerns over his availability in Week 1, saving his fantasy owners from a potential headache to begin the season. Considering his anticipated heavy volume in a Chip Kelly offense, Hyde is worth starting in all formats, and has the potential to end up in the upper echelon this season for fantasy running backs.

49ers | Carlos Hyde has full practice

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 13:10:50 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Looks like it's all systems go for Hyde in Week 1. He faces a tough test against the Los Angeles Rams, though. The Rams only surrendered six rushing touchdowns to running backs last season with one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. Hyde is a low-end RB2 play, but expectations should be lowered.

49ers | Carlos Hyde cleared for football activity

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 10:15:50 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) was cleared for football activity and wore a blue no-contact jersey during practice Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: This is obviously a positive for Hyde and his fantasy owners. However, a Week 1 date with the Los Angeles Rams doesn't set up well for Hyde. The Rams allowed just seven rushing touchdowns last year, which was the third fewest in the league. Looking at Hyde's yearly projection, he averaged just 3.39 yards per carry after Week 1 in 2015 and should face a lot of negative gamescript in 2016 with San Francisco likely to be a basement dweller.

49ers | Carlos Hyde still in concussion protocol

Sat, 03 Sep 2016 17:30:32 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) remains in concussion protocol after reportedly being "one step away" last week.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers' cuts this weekend suggest they believe Hyde will be ready for Week 1, as Shaun Draughn and Mike Davis are the only other running backs on the roster. Should Hyde not be ready by Wednesday, there will be reason for concern. If that should happen, Draughn would be a low-end RB2 against the Los Angeles Rams.

49ers | Carlos Hyde suffers concussion

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 05:19:36 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (concussion) suffered a concussion during the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Friday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will have to pass his concussion tests before he is cleared to play again, so owners will need to monitor the situation. Hyde should receive most of the playing time at the position this season and should be a decent No. 2 running back in most leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde up-and-down in opener

Sun, 14 Aug 2016 17:23:29 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde mixed in the good with the bad in the team's preseason opener against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Aug. 14, ripping off a tackle-breaking 22-yard gallop up the middle in the first quarter before committing a fumble that led to a Texans' defensive touchdown a few plays later.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde surprisingly saw two targets on the 49ers' opening drive, but Blaine Gabbert missed him badly on both. The third-year back figures to be Chip Kelly's bell-cow for as long as he can handle it in 2016, although it should be noted the Ohio State product hasn't made it through a full season dating back to his college days. Hyde has RB1 upside if he can play all 16 games this season, but owners need to handcuff him with Shaun Draughn, who appears to have a hold on backup duties.

49ers | Carlos Hyde talks 2016 season

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 09:23:43 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde said he views the upcoming season as a "make or break" year. Hyde pointed to how effective the new system can be, noting how current 49ers and then Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly helped Eagles RB LeSean McCoy lead the NFL in rushing in 2013. Hyde also believes the up-tempo approach makes defenders tired and allows for big plays.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is right about the make-or-break nature of this season, and he offers tremendous upside for fantasy owners to harness. Make him a focal point of your lineup in the third round of PPR drafts.

49ers | DuJuan Harris to be odd-man out?

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 20:24:07 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris is projected to be cut by beat writer Grant Cohn, with RBs Carlos Hyde, Shaun Draughn and Kelvin Taylor expected to be the top three backs. Harris is expected to be the odd-man out because he isn't adept at catching the football.

Fantasy Tip: Harris wasn't expected to have much in the way of fantasy value, but if this prediction holds true he can be left off of all cheat sheets entirely.

49ers | Carlos Hyde buying into offense

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 18:19:02 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde said he is excited about head coach Chip Kelly's offensive system and believes it will allow him to showcase all his abilities.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde has battled injuries in his first two seasons, but he could be in line for a big year as the featured back in Kelly's offense. Consider him a mid-range RB2 with upside.

49ers | Two RBs looking to move up order

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:13:01 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB DuJuan Harris saw extended reps in the offseason, and he and RB Kelvin Taylor will be looking to move up the depth chart. Currently Harris and Taylor are behind RBs Carlos Hyde and Shaun Draughn in the pecking order.

Fantasy Tip: Harris and Taylor might be worth keeping an eye on this season, as Hyde hasn't been able to stay healthy and Draughn has bounced around the league. Right now Harris and Taylor can be avoided in most fantasy leagues, but remember their names.

49ers | Carlos Hyde sits atop depth chart

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:10:55 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is expected to keep the top spot in the backfield as long as he can stay healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will see plenty of touches, and he is expected to be a focal point in the passing attack in 2016. He should be drafted as a low-end RB2 with some upside. If he takes off in the passing game he'll be a great option in formats which reward points per receptions (PPR).

49ers | Carlos Hyde to be key in passing game

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 11:35:44 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is excited that he'll be a focal point in the passing attack in 2016. "I think it's something that's overlooked, but this year we may get to see it," Hyde said. "I like playing receiver. It's another opportunity to get out in space and get the ball in your hands."

Fantasy Tip: Hyde was really never healthy last season with a foot injury that required surgery. He's still unproven, which is likely to keep him in the RB2 mix. However, he could be a dynamic PPR back if everything goes right around him.

49ers | Carlos Hyde praised by head coach

Mon, 16 May 2016 10:36:44 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde was praised by new head coach Chip Kelly recently. "Carlos is a stud. He's been full-go since we started in the beginning of April," Kelly said. "Participated in everything. And he's as advertised. To have someone that size that is that agile, has that vision, it's really impressive to see him work every day. There have been no restrictions on him at all. He's full clear, 100 percent, and he's going. He's really good, we're really excited about him."

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is the clear-cut No. 1 running back in San Fran in Kelly's high-paced offense, and he should be a great fit for Kelly's stretch run plays. As long as Hyde is fully healthy, he should receive a healthy workload and has RB1 upside in 2016.

49ers | Carlos Hyde feels great

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 17:02:24 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) is back to full strength and said his foot is "feeling great." Hyde played in just seven games in 2015 and had surgery late in December. He also slimmed down to 225 pounds this offseason, which is a seven-pound difference from the start of last year. Hyde compares new head coach Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense to something similar he played in at Ohio State in college.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is in line to be the main ball carrier in this new offensive system under Kelly. An up-tempo offense should benefit Hyde, although he'll likely be spelled often in the passing game. If Hyde comes into the year fully healthy, he should be targeted as a fine RB2 for fantasy owners.

49ers | Carlos Hyde slimming down

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 09:22:06 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is working to slim down this offseason in order to be in shape for new head coach Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense. Hyde's trainer, David Alexander, said he wants Hyde to get down to 220 pounds without losing his power. Hyde is listed at 235 pounds and is now under 230 pounds. He is preparing to see the bulk of the workload in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde looks to be fully recovered from a stress fracture in his foot that cost him nine games last season. If fully healthy, Hyde does figure to see the lion's share of touches in the San Fran backfield, although Kelly will certainly use Bruce Ellington and others in the passing game. Hyde could be the perfect fit for Kelly's system and should be targeted as a fine RB2 on draft day.

49ers | Carlos Hyde fully recovered

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 20:10:11 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) appears to be fully recovered from foot surgery. His agent posted a video of Hyde and RB Bruce Ellington going through drills and each player looks ready for the team's offseason program starting April 4.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will be trying to hold off a charge from Ellington, Mike Davis, Shaun Draughn Kendall Gaskins, DuJuan Harris and Jarryd Hayne in training camp and the preseason. He has the most experience and is worth a look as an RB2 or flex fantasy option in 2016 barring any setbacks.

49ers | Carlos Hyde ideal fit for new offense

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 08:48:40 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is an ideal fit for new head coach Chip Kelly's offense, according to general manager Trent Baalke.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde had upside in 2015 before it was washed away by a foot injury. He'll be an RB2 with upside in 2016.

49ers | Carlos Hyde had surgery

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 12:17:36 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) underwent foot surgery late in the season, but he should be good to go for the start of offseason activities.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers will have a much different look, at least on the sideline, than last season with Chip Kelly now at the helm. Hyde should still be in the RB2 conversation if he doesn't have any setbacks.

49ers | Carlos Hyde's season over

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 14:31:07 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) was placed on Injured Reserve Saturday, Dec. 12. TE Brian Leonhardt was promoted to the active roster.

Fantasy Tip: This move was expected with Hyde so limited with a mid-foot injury. Shaun Draughn ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has a decent matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore this week.

49ers | Carlos Hyde won't travel with team

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 13:20:46 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) will not travel with the team to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 14, according to head coach Jim Tomsula.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) hasn't played since October 22 and could easily miss the rest of the season. Shaun Draughn ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has become a huge part of SF's offense in his absence and faces a salivating matchup against the Browns this weekend. Start Draughn as a nice value pick at running back.

49ers | Three Niners out of practice

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 07:07:10 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot), TE Vance McDonald (concussion) and WR Torrey Smith (back, toe) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look good for any of these players against the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has missed considerable time and might be shut down for the rest of the year at this point. Shaun Draughn ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) continues to see a big chunk of the backfield workload and is a great value selection on FantasyScore against the Browns. McDonald ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) and Smith ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should be off your radar.

49ers | Carlos Hyde unable to practice

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 20:33:38 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. If Hyde is inactive again it will be Shaun Draughn ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) carrying the load in Week 14 in Cleveland.

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 11:09:47 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) will not travel Sunday, Dec. 6, and is out for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Shaun Draughn ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) took all the snaps at RB last week and is an inexpensive flyer on FantasyScore against the Chicago Bears.

49ers | Carlos Hyde expected to sit again

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 17:13:15 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 3, and he's expected to miss his fifth straight game in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears. Head coach Jim Tomsula refuses to give any further update on Hyde regarding his injury. The Niners have called Hyde day-to-day for the last six weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot. Hyde is a candidate to be put on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: At this point in the year, Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) doesn't deserve a roster spot except in keeper formats. Shaun Draughn ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is getting the lion's share of the touches and remains attractive as a value play in a flex spot, especially against the Bears this weekend.

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 19:14:41 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) was unable to part in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: If Hyde remains sidelined, it would be Shaun Draughn ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) carrying the load again in Week 13.

49ers | Carlos Hyde day-to-day

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 13:26:16 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) is listed as day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde's timetable for a return remains a mystery, and the Niners may choose to rest him for much of the rest of the year in a lost season. Shaun Draughn remains the running back with the most fantasy value right now, and he can be a nice sleeper target in a flex position in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears if Hyde misses another contest.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 27, and has been ruled out for the Week 12 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Shaun Draughn ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has posted decent numbers over the last two weeks and should receive most of the carries this week. Owners could consider using him in their lineups but may want to look for other options to use.

49ers | Carlos Hyde misses practice

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 13:46:11 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) may be on his way to missing another game, which would likely mean Shaun Draughn ($3,000, 6.0%) would receive another start. Hyde's status should still be tracked over the next couple days, but neither Hyde nor Draughn is a good play versus the Arizona Cardinals.

49ers | Carlos Hyde idle Wednesday

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 10:37:29 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) won't practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) wants to play again this season, but that remains to be seen. Shaun Draughn ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) doesn't have a lot of upside against the Arizona Cardinals this week.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 20, and has been ruled out for the Week 11 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Shaun Draughn ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) will receive the start at running back and probably will receive a majority of the carries. He rushed for only 58 yards in his last game and is not a great option against the Seahawks.

49ers | Carlos Hyde sidelined again

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 16:52:16 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 19, and is not expected to play in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: If Hyde isn't able to go, Shaun Draughn ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) should receive another start. He has a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, but he was involved in the passing game in the 49ers' last game which gives him added value. He's worth a flyer on FantasyScore this week.

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 17:50:42 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out to see if Hyde ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has any chance to play against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11. Kendall Gaskins ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Shaun Draughn ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) would see playing time if Hyde is ruled out but neither player is a strong fantasy option.

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 12:34:53 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) and WR Anquan Boldin (hamstring) are still not at full speed, according to head coach Jim Tomsula.

Fantasy Tip: Boldin was planning to return next week, but his matchup against the Seattle Seahawks isn't one to write home about. As for Hyde, he will need to be monitored throughout the week, but the matchup for him isn't the most favorable either. There is better value at each of their positions for next week.

San Francisco 49ers RBs Carlos Hyde (foot) and Mike Davis (hand) both missed practice Friday, Nov. 6, and have been ruled out against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Kendall Gaskins ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is set to start against the Falcons with Reggie Bush (knee) also out for the year. The Falcons are the top matchup in PPR leagues like FantasyScore for running backs, so Gaskins has plenty of appeal as a deep sleeper.

49ers | Carlos Hyde sits out Thursday

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 17:45:47 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) likely will not play against the Atlanta Falcons this week, so owners should look for other options. Kendall Gaskins ($4,500, 9.0% of cap), Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn are expected to see playing time, but none of the players are great fantasy options.

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 14:03:58 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) has been ruled out for the Week 8 game against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Reggie Bush ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) likely will be the starting running back for the team with Mike Davis ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Jarryd Hayne ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) being the backup running backs. Bush could be a flex option for owners, but none of the players are great fantasy options.

49ers | Carlos Hyde will likely need surgery

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 11:37:53 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) has a stress fracture in his mid-foot area of his left foot, and he'll likely need surgery after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has a poor matchup against the St. Louis Rams if he suits up. He really isn't worth the risk on FantasyScore this week.

49ers | Carlos Hyde may be a game-time decision

Fri, 30 Oct 2015 10:52:09 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) could be a game-time decision for Week 8 against the St. Louis Rams. Head coach Jim Tomsula didn't sound too concerned that Hyde wouldn't play.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been relatively ineffective this year, and it's probably wise to look elsewhere on FantasyScore.

49ers | Carlos Hyde sits out practice

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 18:12:26 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Although he is expected to play in Week 8, Hyde ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has really struggled in the two games since injuring his foot, and a matchup against a solid St. Louis defense isn't likely to help matters. Avoid Hyde at FantasyScore.
