Browns | Cleveland expect to ride 'hot hand' at RB

Fri, 22 Jun 2018 09:04:26 -0700

Cleveland Browns RBs Carlos Hyde, Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson each are expected to play a major role in the team's offense this season, but running backs coach Freddie Kitchens told the team's website he plans to ride the "hot hand" in the backfield because "if they are having success, why would you change?"

Fantasy Tip: While each of the three running backs is talented enough to serve as a NFL lead back, one has to wonder why the Browns felt the need to add a second-round running back (Chubb) when they signed Hyde for $5 million per year and extended Johnson for more than that over the next three. If the Browns stay with the committee or hot-hand approach all season long, none of the backs figure to be anything more than low-end RB2s in fantasy.

Browns | Nick Chubb to open year as the backup?

Sat, 09 Jun 2018 18:57:38 -0700

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb will likely spell RB Carlos Hyde early in the year, in the opinion of Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com.

Fantasy Tip: At the very least, Chubb is worth owning in redraft leagues as a handcuff to Hyde, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the rookie work his way into a timeshare. In rookie drafts, Chubb is worthy of a first-round selection.

Browns | Carlos Hyde to lead backfield?

Sat, 09 Jun 2018 18:45:19 -0700

Cleveland Browns RB Carlos Hyde will likely open the year as the starter, in the opinion of Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will share carries with Nick Chubb in some capacity, but he should still be a serviceable flex option in redraft leagues as long as he is healthy.

Browns | Carlos Hyde agrees with Browns

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 05:13:45 -0700

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Carlos Hyde agreed to a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, March 14. The deal is worth more than $15 million with $6 million in the first year.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde made it through his first 16-game season of his career last year and had 940 rushing yards, eight scores and a 59-350-0 receiving line. He'll be worth at least an RB3 pickup.

49ers | Carlos Hyde talking with 49ers

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 09:12:59 -0800

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Carlos Hyde and the 49ers have had ongoing discussions regarding a new contract, according to general manager John Lynch. Lynch said a deal is not imminent, however.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde will be of the bigger-name running backs on the free-agent market this year if he is not retained in the next couple weeks. If a deal is not imminent with two weeks left it sounds more likely than not that Hyde will be a free agent. He has RB1 upside, with more appeal in PPR scenarios, but drafting him as an RB2 is ideal.

49ers | Carlos Hyde's agent to meet with 49ers

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 18:13:46 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde's agent will meet with the 49ers this week at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers have not ruled out re-signing Hyde this offseason, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He has rushed for at least 940 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 14 touchdowns during that span. There is a good chance that Hyde finds a starting job this offseason and can be a No. 2 running back in standard leagues.

49ers | Carlos Hyde on his way out of SF?

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 20:12:39 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde could be on his way out of town in free agency, in the opinion of Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Fantasy Tip: Though he fell just short of his first career 1,000-yard campaign, Hyde still posted quality numbers, amassing 938 yards on the ground on 240 carries, as well as adding career bests through the air with 59 receptions for 350 yards. The 49ers offense has a high ceiling with Jimmy Garoppolo under center, so perhaps it's possible that Hyde stays put. He'll likely be an RB2 option in fantasy no matter where he's playing next year.

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde ran 21 times for 54 yards and a score in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars while adding three receptions for 19 yards on his three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde, like most of the rest of the San Francisco offense, did a pretty good job against one of the best defenses in the NFL.
