49ers | Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde sit out

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 15:56:25 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RBs Frank Gore (concussion) and Carlos Hyde (ankle) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde ($4,800) needs a miracle to play against the San Diego Chargers this weekend, and Gore ($4,900) must be cleared from the concussion protocol on a short week. Neither running back is a good investment at FantasyScore this weekend. Alfonso Smith ($3,000) would see an increased workload if neither Gore nor Hyde play, but you should ignore Smith.

49ers | Carlos Hyde doesn't expect to play

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 14:31:22 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee, back) received good news from his MRI results, but he said it would take a miracle for him to play in Week 16 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Well, you should now look to avoid both Hyde ($4,800) and Frank Gore ($4,900) this weekend at FantasyScore as they are both on short weeks. Alfonso Smith ($3,000) is a desperation flex play against the Chargers for the volume he's expected to receive.

49ers | More on Carlos Hyde

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 07:35:02 -0800

Updating an earlier report, San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee, back) said he was surprised he wasn't injured more severely on an awkward tackle Sunday, Dec. 14. He had X-rays on his back. The injury was initially believed to be an ankle injury, but he suffered back and knee injuries, which are believed to be minor.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the conflicting reports, Hyde's injuries are minor. He could start with Frank Gore's (concussion) status uncertain for Week 16. Hyde could be a great value on FantasyScore.

49ers | Carlos Hyde unable to return

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 16:29:19 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (ankle) left the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a right ankle injury and he was unable to return.

Fantasy Tip: With Hyde done for the day, joining Frank Gore on the sidelines, it was Alfonso Smith and Bruce Miller taking over as the primary ball carriers for the final half of the fourth quarter.

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 15:35:08 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (ankle) left the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks in the third quarter due to an apparent ankle injury.

49ers | Carlos Hyde expected to play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 15:12:22 -0800

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde should receive some carries this week and is facing an Oakland Raiders defense that has allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season. Hyde costs $3,400 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap flex option for owners.

49ers | Frank Gore not happy with offense

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 10:43:42 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore wasn't pleased with the offensive game plan in which they unleashed five-receiver sets against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 because of a lack of healthy tight ends. The receiver-heavy look didn't feature a running back, and the Niners went with a no-huddle offense. QB Colin Kaepernick's 78.4 completion percentage (29-for-37) was his best as a starter. Gore had just one carry in the second half and finished with six rushes for just 10 yards. RB Carlos Hyde had three carries for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: This approach won't always be the game plan. Expect a more balanced focus on offense with Vernon Davis (ankle) returns to the starting lineup. However, Gore's involvement should be monitored. If he continues to lose touches, he probably won't be much more than a flex play.

49ers | Carlos Hyde probable for Week 3

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 16:48:59 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (calf) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and he is considered probable for the Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Hyde is a relatively inexpensive option ($4500 or 9.0 percent of salary) in FantasyScore leagues. He won't see a ton of touches as long as Frank Gore is healthy, but Hyde does get the ball near the goalline. If you want to save salary to spread across other positions, he isn't a terrible RB2 or flex option.
