Texans | Tom Savage the guy in Houston

Tue, 04 Apr 2017 07:07:19 -0700

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage will move forward as the starter, but the team is likely to draft a quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Savage was unspectacular in his short stint starting last season, and he'll enter the season as a midrate QB2 in fantasy.

Browns | Brock Osweiler sealed Texans' fate with fight

Sun, 12 Mar 2017 10:05:06 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Brock Osweiler "reacted negatively" to head coach Bill O'Brien's decision to turn to him in Week 17 after starter Tom Savage was injured in the second quarter of a loss to the Tennessee Titans. An argument reportedly ensued and the two men eventually engaged in a "physical confrontation that got ugly", according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: If all the details of this report are true, it would help explain why the Texans showed no interest in giving Osweiler another chance to prove himself in 2017 after a disastrous first season. Osweiler will likely be released soon if the Browns can't find a trade partner, while Houston will almost certainly spend a high draft pick on fixing their quarterback situation, even if it adds Tony Romo at some point.

Texans | Tom Savage could wind up in San Francisco

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 23:03:10 -0800

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage could end up with the San Francisco 49ers via trade if Houston ends up acquiring Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo at some point this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It's no secret the 49ers are looking for a new starting quarterback, so it appears a possible Romo-to-Houston move would be the domino that triggers the 49ers then going after Savage. It wouldn't exactly be a high-ceiling acquisition but Savage did impress a bit when he got to start at the end of the year for the Texans. However, the 49ers would have to improve their offense more for Savage to draw serious consideration in fantasy, even as just a QB2.

Texans | HOU QBs to compete for starting gig

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 05:44:02 -0800

Updating previous reports, Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler and QB Tom Savage will compete, likely with a quarterback from the 2017 NFL draft, for the starting spot next season, according to owner Bob McNair. The Texans could draft a quarterback in the first or second rounds.

Fantasy Tip: Osweiler or Savage would be a backup in fantasy if they win the job. There are some players to work with at the skill positions, and either could be a matchup play.

Texans | Owner hopes Tom Savage competes for QB job

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 12:10:00 -0800

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair said he would like to see QB Tom Savage compete for the starting quarterback job next season.

Fantasy Tip: Savage started a few games at the end of the season but was sidelined during the playoffs because of a concussion. He probably would have to compete with Brock Osweiler and maybe another quarterback during training camp, but the winner of the job should be avoided by fantasy owners.
