Marlins | Ichiro Suzuki hit by pitch

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 15:54:59 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki (knee) was hit on his left knee on a pitch from Cincinnati Reds P Raisel Iglesias on Sunday, July 10. Suzuki stayed in the game.

Fantasy Tip: This should not be an issue with the All-Star break coming up, but stay tuned in case there are any notes. Suzuki is 10 hits away from 3,000 for his MLB career so the Marlins will showcase him in the second half.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias makes rehab appearance

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:59:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) tossed two perfect innings with two strikeouts in a rehab outing with Class AA Pensacola Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: In a curious move, the Reds are expected to use Iglesias in relief once he's back from the DL. That'll likely kill most of his fantasy value, at least in mixed leagues. Could he be a candidate for high-leverage situations late in games? Perhaps, but there's no indication that he'd be a candidate to pitch in the ninth inning as of now.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias to begin rehab

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 17:41:26 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) will report to Class AA Pensacola to begin his rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias was out to a solid start this year, as he compiled a 3.49 ERA in five starts to go with 29 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings, but unfortunately for the 26-year-old, he'll be headed to the Cincinnati bullpen upon his return. As a result, he really holds no value, which is unfortunate, considering his potential as a member of the rotation. Even so, he might be worth stashing in deeper formats in case he gets to start again sooner than later.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias will be reliever

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 10:56:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) will be used as a relief pitcher once he is activated from the 15-day disabled list because the team wants to see if the lighter workload will help keep his shoulder healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias is still a few weeks away from returning to the team, so owners will need to see what his role will be once he returns. He will lose some value since he will not be starting but should have value in mixed leagues if he has an important role in the bullpen.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias about a month away

Sat, 21 May 2016 17:49:28 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) could return sometime in June if his rehab goes according to plan, manager Bryan Price said Saturday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias has shown intriguing strikeout potential, and he should be stashed in all formats as he recovers.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias 'pain-free'

Tue, 10 May 2016 16:37:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) is now "completely pain-free," according to manager Bryan Price, and will be re-examined on Wednesday, May 11. "We're hoping there's a throwing program that will be set up and he can start here relatively soon as well," Price added.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias hasn't pitched since April 25, but it looks like he's getting closer to returning. Prior to the injury, the 26-year-old Cuban was consistently solid, going at least five innings and yielding three runs or fewer in all five of his starts, while averaging more than a strikeout per inning. If someone ditched him early, now might be the time for owners to stash him. He could be back in a few weeks.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias still not throwing

Thu, 05 May 2016 15:57:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) has not begun to throw and will not return from the disabled list when eligible Wednesday, May 11, according to manager Bryan Price.

"He has to cool off and the inflammation has to cool down before we consider getting him to throw again," Price said. "I would be more optimistic (Iglesias could return) after the midpoint of the month than I would saying by the 15th or by the time we go on the road that he's ready to go. I don't know if I can safely say that right now. We're going to want him to be able to play catch, play long toss, throw a bullpen before thinking about putting him back into a ballgame."

Fantasy Tip: The Reds are going to take a conservative approach with Iglesias, which means fantasy owners could be without his services for a few more weeks. He is worth stashing in the majority of seasonal leagues, so stay tuned for updates.
