Reds | Raisel Iglesias moved out of rotation

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 20:40:04 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) is dealing with right shoulder fatigue, and he has been removed from the starting rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) should be scratched from your FantasyScore cheat sheets doing down the stretch, as all indications are that he will have his workload dramatically reduced if and when he is able to return.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias pitching well

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 17:11:31 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias has struck out more than 10 batters while allowing four hits or fewer in each of his last three starts.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias' ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) ability to rack up strikeouts while allowing so few baserunners makes him a solid starting pitching option in FantasyScore every time he takes the mound. In nine starts since the All-Star break, he has held opposing hitters to a .172 mark , while striking out 70 batters in 58 1/3 innings.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias stays sharp vs. Cubbies

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 16:01:21 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias scattered two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out 10 batters over seven innings during the Reds' 7-4 win over the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, Aug. 2. Iglesias did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) has reached double-digit strikeouts in each of his past three starts, and he has now gone seven consecutive outings allowing three earned runs or fewer. He has emerged as a solid option who should be owned in all seasonal leagues and started with confidence in the majority of matchups.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias impressive in loss

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 16:33:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out a career-high 13 in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has been on a roll lately, allowing two runs or less in four of his last five starts. He also has 77 strikeouts in 73 1/3 innings this year, so he offers solid upside for a great price at FantasyScore.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias settles down for win

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 19:09:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias allowed three runs and six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over six innings in a win Wednesday, Aug. 12, against the San Diego Padres. He allowed a three-run home run in the first inning, but settled down and actually retired his final 16 batters faced.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA in three outings in the month of August, all quality starts. At this price level he is worth a look in FantasyScore when the matchup is a favorable one.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias going deeper

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 13:23:25 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias has had back-to-back starts of at least six innings for the first time in his career. He had only gone six innings in one of his previous starts in the majors. He faces the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, Aug. 7, on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias' ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) last two starts were against the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals, so they weren't against slouch offenses. He still owns a 5.13 ERA on the season, though, but is striking out 8.9 hitters per nine innings. Plenty of upside and risk here.

Reds | Cincy youngsters to be limited

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 16:31:34 -0700

Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price said all of the team's young pitchers, including SPs Anthony DeSclafani, Michael Lorenzen, Raisel Iglesias, David Holmberg, Keyvius Sampson, Robert Stephenson, Brandon Finnegan and John Lamb will have their innings monitored as the season wears on. "The biggest challenge is for a lot of guys who will be considered for call-ups for September or even earlier. We'll have guys who don't have that first major-league season where they pitched in September and had a chance to take their workload from 145 innings or 150 to 175 or 185. We'll have a lot of guys who we'll have to be cautious with their innings."

Fantasy Tip: That's not what owners of any of these pitchers want to hear, but it's a reality that often affects all young pitchers and their fantasy owners as the season winds down. On FantasyScore, none of the Reds young pitchers is ever a slam dunk, and their daily value will likely only continue to plummet if they are kept on pitch counts or innings limits.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias activated

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 07:33:19 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (oblique) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, July 11. The team also optioned OF Yorman Rodriguez to Class AAA Louisville.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is scheduled to be the starting pitcher Saturday, but he may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore since he has missed a few weeks. Owners may want to see him pitch in a game or two before considering him as an option.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias starting Saturday

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:38:37 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (oblique) is starting against the Miami Marlins Saturday, July 11, instead of SP Anthony DeSclafani (gluteus). DeSclafani pitched through a glute strain during his last start.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) could be a sneaky No. 2 pitcher for FantasyScore players Saturday. The Miami lineup is much easier to navigate without slugger Giancarlo Stanton (hand), and Igelsias has a 2.91 FIP with a 9.12 K/9 through four starts and six appearances this season.

Reds | Robert Stephenson, Tony Cingrani options

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 16:20:35 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SPs Robert Stephenson and Tony Cingrani could be recalled to enter the starting rotation if the team trades SPs Johnny Cueto or Mike Leake, or both, at the trading deadline. Stephenson is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA for Class AAA Louisville this year, and Cingrani is being stretched out as a starter after rehabbing from a shoulder strain. The Reds won't necessarily use Cingrani as a starter when he's healthy, but they want to have options. Cingrani was too reliant on his fastball out of spring training, and since he's worked on adding offspeed pitches. Cingrani or SP Raisel Iglesias (oblique) are likely the first two options to take a rotation spot if needed. Stephenson has the best stuff in the organization as a starter, though.

Fantasy Tip: Stephenson is MLB.com's 18th overall ranked prospect this year, and now is the time to stash him away in keeper and deep NL-only leagues if he's available. Iglesias ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Cingrani are likely widely available in the majority of formats, and both could be valuable to those in the deepest of mixed leagues if they grab a rotation spot in the second half.
