Ravens | Terrance West the No. 1 running back

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 17:51:01 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West holds the No. 1 running back position on the Ravens' current depth chart, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: West will compete with Kenneth Dixon, among others, for playing time this season. Dixon is a breakout candidate in 2017, though, especially in PPR leagues. There is obviously plenty of time for this hierarchy to change, and Dixon does have more upside. He should be an RB3 consideration, while West is more of a flex option despite his current superior status.

Ravens | Terrance West the No. 1 back

Tue, 28 Mar 2017 08:46:03 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West is the lead running back, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Tip: West averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 160 rushes as the starter. He rushed for 655 yards, five touchdowns, caught 30 balls for 207 yards and another score as a starter. Things could change in the draft, but for now, West is a low-end RB2 in fantasy.

Ravens | Baltimore tenders Terrance West

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 20:42:27 -0800

Baltimore Ravens restricted free-agent RB Terrance West was tendered by the team at the original-round level Tuesday, March 7. The tender carries a value of $1.797 million next season.

Fantasy Tip: West had a decent showing this past season in his first full campaign with the Ravens, recording a career-high 774 rushing yards on 193 carries, while also scoring a career-best five touchdowns. However, he's not someone to target in most drafts, as Baltimore's running back situation is tough to get a beat on, with the emerging Kenneth Dixon likely to get more work anyway.

Ravens | Terrance West looking for 1,000 yards

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 14:54:38 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West said one of his goals for next season is to rush for at least 1,000 yards.

Fantasy Tip: West was the starter for most of the 2016 season but lost some carries to Kenneth Dixon near the end of the season. He likely will return to the Ravens but it is not known if he will be the starter again. Fantasy owners probably can consider him a No. 3 running back if he starts or a No. 4 back if he is part of a committee.

Ravens | Terrance West to be a RFA

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 16:57:41 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West will be a restricted free-agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

Fantasy Tip: West shared reps with Kenneth Dixon at the end of the season and could be a backup if he returns to the Ravens in 2017. Owners should monitor his situation during the offseason because he could be avoided in fantasy leagues if he is not a starter.

Ravens | Baltimore wants to add big-play RB

Mon, 09 Jan 2017 09:03:28 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RBs Kenneth Dixon and Terrance West appear to be on solid footing with the team, but head coach John Harbaugh hinted the Ravens will be interested in adding a player to the mix that could help them improve on the seven 20-yard plays (six runs, one reception) his backs created in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Baltimore would have drafted Todd Gurley in 2015 or Ezekiel Elliott in 2016 had either player fallen in its lap. This year's running back crop is expected to be one of the best in some time, although LSU's Leonard Fournette and Florida State's Dalvin Cook could both be off the board by the time the Ravens select at No. 16. Stanford's Christian McCaffrey could be in play, however.

Ravens | Terrance West quiet in Week 17

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 13:26:58 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West rushed for 18 yards on five carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17. He also caught three passes for 19 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: West won the starting job early in the season but lost playing time as the season went on. He may receive a chance to compete for the starting job next season but likely will be a backup. Owners in most leagues should only consider West in the late rounds of drafts as a handcuff.

Ravens | Tough night for Terrance West

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 17:41:32 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West had 10 carries for 27 yards and three catches for 28 yards in a 31-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: West struggled to find running room, and he continues to be involved in a committee with Kenneth Dixon. West's carries have become tough to predict from one week to the next, and he will be a risky flex play in Week 17.

Ravens | Kyle Juszczyk the third-down back for now

Tue, 20 Dec 2016 09:22:50 -0800

Baltimore Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk (32-of-58) out-snapped RBs Terrance West (26-of-58) and Kenneth Dixon (15-of-58) in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles in large part because he was the team's lone back in the game on third downs. The Ravens reportedly still don't trust West or Dixon in third-down, pass-protection situations.

Fantasy Tip: It didn't seem to be a problem in Week 14, as Dixon saw 42 snaps and was peppered with targets in a loss to the New England Patriots. However, neither Dixon nor West saw even half of the team's snaps against Philly. Baltimore ranks second in the league with 584 pass attempts, so this lack of trust partly explains why neither back can seem to establish any consistency in fantasy. As a result, West and Dixon are no better than flex plays in Week 16 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ravens | Terrance West outsnaps Kenneth Dixon

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 09:04:12 -0800

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West played 26-of-58 snaps in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, while rookie Kenneth Dixon settled for 15 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: West was outsnapped 42-14 in Week 14 when it was clear the Ravens preferred Dixon against the New England Patriots. This appears to be as much of a hot-hand backfield as any in the league at the moment, rendering both players into low-end flex plays in most leagues despite their obvious upside. Based on recent evidence, Dixon would seem to be the superior play Christmas Day against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that is merely a guess.
