Falcons | Atlanta RBs snap distribution

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 20:24:12 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman was on the field for 38 of the team's 64 offensive snaps in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints. RB Tevin Coleman logged 27 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Both Freeman (207 yards, one TD) and Coleman (89 yards, three TDs) paid huge dividends for fantasy owners Monday night, and it appears that both will be counted on to play significant roles in the offense going forward. Freeman is probably the safer play, but Coleman is a legit FLEX/RB3 candidate.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman torches NOLA

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 21:20:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman had 14 carries for 152 yards in the Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints Monday, Sept. 26, and he added five receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman's fantasy owners have been wringing their hands early in the season with Tevin Coleman chipping away at Freeman's playing time. He eased minds with a giant stat line, although Coleman also had a big game under the dome. Freeman remains a low-end RB1 in all PPR leagues, and he is a must-start in every other fantasy format.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman splitting time

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 07:17:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman is listed as the team's No. 1 running back on the depth chart, although the organization considers RB Tevin Coleman to be just as talented and tries to give equal touches to both players.

Fantasy Tip: This is good news for anyone who waited until the middle rounds of seasonal fantasy drafts to select Coleman. In Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Freeman had 20 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards, while Coleman had 22 rushing yards and 95 receiving yards. For now, Freeman should continue to be viewed as a solid RB2, while Coleman merits strong consideration as an RB3 or flex option.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman not on injury report

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 15:04:04 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman likely will remain as the starting running back but could lose some playing time to Tevin Coleman, which will hurt his value. Owners should consider Freeman a risky No. 2 back this week and could bench him if they have better options.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman back practicing

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 21:37:13 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (quadriceps) was able to practice fully Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman struggled in the opener, and since he could be playing at less than 100 percent, he should be considered a low-end RB2 in Week 2.

Falcons | Devonta Freemman listed as limited

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 15:42:58 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (quadriceps) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Freeman's injury will keep him out for Week 2, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He rushed for only 20 yards on 11 carries in Week 1 and could lose some work to Tevin Coleman moving forward. Freeman should be considered a risky No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.

Falcons | RBBC alive and well in Atlanta?

Tue, 13 Sep 2016 09:13:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RBs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman will continue to operate as a committee, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Coleman accumulated 117 total yards on his 13 touches in Week 1, while Freeman had 40 yards on his 15. "We know both these guys are going to be a factor. We just had two running backs active (Sunday), so for the whole portion of the game, both of them have done significant things really well. We're going to utilize them both,'' Quinn said.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman should still be considered the favorite for fantasy production in this backfield, but it is becoming clear Atlanta wants to avoid Freeman carrying the offense on his back like he did for a short time last season. Freeman is still in the RB2 conversation, while Coleman is looking like a solid RB3/flex play going forward.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman mostly bottled up

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 20:58:17 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for just 20 yards in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he added four receptions for 20 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman was overshadowed by Tevin Coleman, who had a total of 117 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches. It was almost a 50-50 split for touches and Coleman was much more productive. It's not time for Freeman's fantasy owners to panic after just one game, but it could be a sign of things to come.

Falcons | Bigger role for Tevin Coleman?

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 21:17:01 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman seems more comfortable this year, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, and Shanahan said he plans to ride the hot hand at running back to keep both Coleman and RB Devonta Freeman fresh.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off a big year, Freeman is undoubtedly the starter and RB1 candidate, especially in PPR formats. However, it sounds like Coleman could earn his way into a larger role. If you are a Freeman owner, you'd be wise to acquire Coleman as a handcuff.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman struggles

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 13:10:25 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed for eight yards on five carries in the preseason game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman will be the starting running back this season but is expected to lose some of his work to Tevin Coleman. He likely will be a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues but should be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues.
