Texans | Alfred Blue might be huge again

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 21:29:30 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue had a big game in Week 3, and he might have another strong game in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have allowed opposing running backs to roll up 264 yards on the ground, 317 receiving yards and seven rushing touchdowns through three games.

Fantasy Tip: Blue ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) logged 139 rushing yards with a touchdown in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and another strong game against the weak Falcons defense wouldn't be shocking. As an RB2 or flex play in FantasyScore you're going to like Blue in Week 4.

Texans | Alfred Blue a workhorse Sunday

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 18:22:31 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue had 31 carries for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 19-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Blue ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) hadn't done much in the first two weeks of the season, but he took advantage of a friendly matchup against the Buccaneers. Assuming Arian Foster ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) doesn't return in Week 4, Blue could make a great low-priced play at FantasyScore against an Atlanta Falcons defense that surrendered four rushing touchdowns in Week 3.

Texans | Running game lacking for Houston

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 14:48:44 -0700

Houston Texans RBs Alfred Blue, Chris Polk, Jonathan Grimes and the Texans' offense rank 24th in the NFL with 44 rushing attempts so far this year. They lead the league at 105 pass attempts.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Arian Foster being absent is the key reason for their struggles so far and why Houston has had to pass frequently. The Texans' defense hasn't been what they were expected to be yet, either. The rush attempts should increase once Foster returns, but none of Houston's running backs should be in starting fantasy lineups until Foster comes back.

Texans | Alfred Blue shares the load

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 18:12:33 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue led the team with nine carries for 42 yards in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Sept. 13, but RB Jonathan Grimes had six carries and RB Chris Polk had five carries.

Fantasy Tip: Blue ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should remain the starter as long as Arian Foster is out, but he may not be the workhorse he was expected to be. Houston's early deficit may have also contributed to his lighter workload, but for now, consider him a risky sleeper at FantasyScore.

Texans | Alfred Blue is next man up

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 16:36:01 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue is expected to take over the first-team duties with RB Arian Foster (groin) expected to miss some time in the regular season. RBs Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk could also see more action in the backfield with Foster injured.

Fantasy Tip: Grimes filled in as the third-down back with Foster injured for three games last year, so his workload will certainly increase. He has late value only in point-per-reception leagues. Blue has more in him than his 3.1-yards-per-carry average from 2014, but he's nothing more than a midround flier right now.

Texans | Alfred Blue carted off

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 11:27:04 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (legs) was carted off the field Tuesday, Aug. 4 with leg cramps, but he is fine. Blue received the repetitions that RB Arian Foster (groin) would have received.

Fantasy Tip: If Foster required surgery on his injured groin, Blue will play an important role for the Texans, at least for the first half of the season. If you decide to take the risk and draft Foster, Blue should be an option later in drafts.

Texans | Alfred Blue works with Arian Foster

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 12:58:20 -0700

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue has been working with RB Arian Foster on improving his skills on third downs. Blue could see playing time on third downs this season.

Fantasy Tip: Blue should have a solid role on offense in 2015 and is the next player up if Foster suffers an injury during the season. Blue could be selected as a handcuff for Foster during drafts or as a late-round option to add depth at the position for owners.

Texans | Arian Foster likely to share carries

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 06:07:28 -0800

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) is likely to share carries with RB Alfred Blue if Foster is able to play in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Foster ($7,300; 14.6% of your cap) presents a very risky play on FantasyScore this week that you might want to avoid. Blue ($5,800; 11.6%) isn't a very attractive play at that price either if Foster plays.

Texans | Alfred Blue ties franchise record

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 18:41:32 -0800

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue carried a franchise-record 36 times for 156 yards in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns in place of the injured RB Arian Foster (groin). His 156 yards tied a rookie franchise record previously set by RB Steve Slaton back in 2008.

Fantasy Tip: Blue will be a popular pick in FantasyScore again in Week 12 if Foster is sidelined again. More will be known on Foster's status Friday. If he is ruled out again, remember Blue's name, although he won't be nearly as cheap in FantasyScore next time around.

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 14:33:28 -0700

Houston Texans LB Jeff Tarpinian (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee, illness), LB Brian Cushing (knee) and CB Darryl Morris (ankle) are questionable, while RB Alfred Blue (ankle), DE Tim Jamison (groin), CB Johnathan Joseph (knee), LB Whitney Mercilus (shoulder), LB Brooks Reed (groin), CB Jumal Rolle (wrist) and LB John Simon (ankle) are probable. Tarpinian, Clowney and Morris didn't practice Friday, Oct. 31. Cushing, Blue, Joseph, Reed and Simon were limited, while the others practiced in full.
