Giants | Odell Beckham limited Friday

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 13:24:10 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 22, but is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is still dealing with the injury but will be on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles this week. He was held to only 36 yards in Week 2 but should see more targets against a depleted Eagles secondary. Owners should consider Beckham at least a No. 2 fantasy receiver this week.

Giants | No setbacks for Odell Beckham Jr.

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 19:49:48 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) said he has experienced zero setbacks with his injured ankle after playing in Week 2, and he expects to play more against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham played limited snaps and managed just 36 yards in his debut, but if he suits up in Week 3, he has too much potential to leave on the bench.

Giants | Odell Beckham remains limited

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 11:29:57 -0700

New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited in practice again Thursday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham played last week, so it would be a surprise not to see him suit up this week. The question is how involved in the game plan will he be? Either way, start him as long as he's active, especially against a hurting Philadelphia Eagles secondary.

Giants | Odell Beckham limited Wednesday

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 15:24:12 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham was able to play in Week 2 despite the injury but was limited to only 36 yards on four catches. He probably will be active again this week and will be facing a banged up Philadelphia Eagles secondary. Fantasy owners should have him in their lineup, but he probably will not a No. 1 receiver for owners.

Giants | NYG could face compromised secondary

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 11:27:43 -0700

New York Giants WRs Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard could face a shorthanded Philadelphia Eagles defensive backfield in Week 3, as S Rodney McLeod (hamstring) and CB Jaylen Watkins (hamstring) are nursing hamstring injuries. The Eagles also lost CB Ronald Darby for four-to-six weeks with an ankle injury in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: While the likely absences of Darby, McLeod and Watkins should be a lift to the Giants' passing game, it remains to be seen whether or not the Giants' offensive line will give the receivers anytime to get open. It is also worth mentioning Philadelphia has one of the most talented and deepest defensive lines in the league. Given how poorly New York has performed offensively thus far, the odds seem long any receiver outside of Beckham is worth a start in fantasy this week or for the foreseeable future.

Giants | Odell Beckham plays 61 percent of snaps

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 06:22:57 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) played 34 of 56 (61 percent) offensive snaps in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: He had four catches for 36 yards, but he wasn't used as a decoy. The offense just stunk it up. He'll have a better outlook in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles if he recovers well.

Giants | Odell Beckham mostly ineffective

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 21:16:27 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. posted four catches for 36 yards on five targets in the Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions on Monday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham, who was a question mark leading up to the game due to an ankle injury, didn't really do much because his quarterback didn't have a lot of time to get the ball down the field. Beckham also had one drop in the game. He'll look for better results in Week 3 in Philadelphia.

Giants | Odell Beckham active for Week 2

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 16:19:11 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is officially active for the team's Week 2 game.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham probably will be a focal point in the passing game even though his injured ankle may affect his play. Beckham should be considered a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Giants | Odell Beckham a game-time decision

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 05:17:25 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is "up in the air" to play Monday, Sept. 18, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't a lot you can do if you have him in your lineups since they play Monday night, but keep an eye on the situation throughout the day. He's a WR1 if he's active.

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 07:18:18 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. is open to signing a contract extension during the season, and the team is also willing to work on an extension during the season, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants can work on a deal with Beckham during the season but could wait until after the season to reach a deal. Beckham appears to be on track to play in Week 2 despite his ankle injury and can be a No. 1 receiver if he plays.

New York Giants LB Keenan Robinson (concussion) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 16, but has been ruled out for Week 2. OG D.J. Fluker (shin) and LB B.J. Goodson (shin) did not practice and are listed as questionable. WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. listed as questionable

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 11:05:11 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham may be a game-time decision for Week 2, but it appears he has a good chance to play in the game. Beckham is a must-start option when he is healthy, but owners will need to lower expectations because his ankle probably will affect his play. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver at this point, but owners will need another receiver from that game available in case Beckham is declared inactive.

Giants | Odell Beckham practicing Friday

Fri, 15 Sep 2017 08:48:53 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) practiced Friday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how much he practiced as he only did individual work yesterday. It's still a good sign for him to be ready to resume his WR1 role Monday night against the Detroit Lions.

Giants | Odell Beckham not close to full recovery

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 11:35:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was told his sprained ankle would need six to eight weeks to fully heal. He suffered the injury not one month ago.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham was limited in practice today, but based on the timetable he clearly won't be 100% even if he plays. His status will need to be monitored, but don't count on any Giants' offensive player if Beckham is out again. New York was stagnant and lost without Beckham in Week 1.

Giants | Odell Beckham puts in limited practice

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 11:07:10 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: He's not where he needs to be, but it's better than where he was at last week. Beckham could be a game-time decision, but the fact that he's practicing is promising. Have a backup plan prepared if Beckham is unable to play or not full go.

Giants | Odell Beckham doing individual drills

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 09:03:30 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is doing individual drills in practice Thursday, Sept. 14, for the first time in nearly a month.

Fantasy Tip: There is optimism for him to play this week, and he has an extra day with the team playing the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. He's an elite WR1 if he goes, but Friday will provide a better gauge.

Giants | 'Optimism' that Odell Beckham suits up

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 19:16:48 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) reportedly "pushed to play" in the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 10, versus the Dallas Cowboys, and there is now "a lot of optimism" that he'll indeed be able to make his season debut Monday, Sept. 18, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: It's another tough situation for fantasy owners that used an early pick on the polarizing wideout, and it's understandable if there's hesitation to plug him in for Week 2, considering his team will be on Monday Night Football. However, even though it's only Wednesday, every indication seems to point to Beckham suiting up, and as a result, owners should keep him in there -- but with a contingency plan like T.J. Jones or Roger Lewis on the bench just in case.

Giants | Odell Beckham uncertain for Week 2

Tue, 12 Sep 2017 23:59:48 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is considered day-to-day with his high ankle sprain, according to head coach Ben McAdoo. Beckham was able to do some light work before the team's Week 1 game, which McAdoo indicated was a step in the right direction.

Fantasy Tip: Twenty days weren't enough to get Beckham on the field, and it sounds like he wasn't close to playing against Dallas. The G-Men get an extra day to heal up before hosting the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, which should help Beckham, but there's clearly no guarantee he'll be ready to role this week.

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 16:13:33 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) will not play in Week 1, per the team's official inactives.

Giants | Odell Beckham flying with team to Dallas

Sat, 09 Sep 2017 08:44:03 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) will travel with the team Saturday, Sept. 9, in advance of the Giants' Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 10. He is still expected to be a game-time decision.

Fantasy Tip: There was some discussion earlier this week Beckham may not even travel the team, so this - plus the fact he will be a game-time decision - suggests he may be on track for a Week 2 return against the Detroit Lions, who will likely shadow him with Darius Slay. Nevertheless, Beckham is a WR1 regardless of the matchup whenever he plays.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't practice Friday

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 12:54:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) did not practice Friday, Sept. 8, for the third straight day. His is officially listed as questionable.

Fantasy Tip: We've beaten this one to death, but here we go for another whack. OBJ has a late game this Sunday and is a huge risk even if he plays. No practice reps all week suggests he isn't likely to play. Gamers should insert him in the flex to swap out for someone with a Sunday night or MNF game at RB-WR-TE.

Giants | Odell Beckham questionable for Week 1

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 07:51:32 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Since they play Sunday night, OBJ is a very big risk in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. If you have the opportunity to, try to add a flex option for the Monday night game to cover for your WR1.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. 50-50 to play

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 18:19:46 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) has a 50-50 chance of playing against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Fantasy Tip: If Beckham suits up, he is a WR1 option in all formats, but keep in mind that he plays Sunday night and his status could go down to the wire. You may need to play it safe and keep him on the bench if you don't have any potential replacements playing Monday.

Giants | Odell Beckham remains sidelined

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 12:50:47 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham likely will be a game-time decision, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. He is a weekly starting option when healthy, but owners could consider using healthier options in their lineup since Beckham's game is Sunday night.

Giants | Odell Beckham working on side

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 08:58:51 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) warmed up in full pads Thursday, Sept. 7, but worked on the side with trainers afterwards.

Fantasy Tip: OBJ hasn't practiced since injuring his ankle, and he's a very risky play in Week 1. However, if he's in there, he's a legit WR1.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. 'uncertain' for Week 1

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 11:39:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) has done some running and cutting on his injured ankle, but he appears to be more hopeful than confident he'll play in Week 1 against New York Giants, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham reportedly told ESPN's Dianna Rossini he's improving and feeling better every day, but head coach Ben McAdoo stated pretty clearly that if his top receiver will play if cleared in time to play. As a result, owners should expect to be without him in Week 1, particularly because the Giants play on Sunday night.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. gets in side work Wednesday

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 09:17:19 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) did not practice with the team Wednesday, Sept. 6, first warming up with the team before doing some work on the side, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, he did not require any kind of support for his injured ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Obviously, Thursday will be a critical day for Beckham as Giants prepare to meet the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, but his fantasy owners have reason to be optimistic at the moment. Owners need to have other alternatives in mind just in case, but if he gets in even a limited practice before the end of the week, he's probably going to be worth rolling the dice on in all leagues this week.

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 09:04:40 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) didn't practice Monday, Sept. 4. He rode the bike and went inside for rehab work.

Fantasy Tip: OBJ is still in line to play in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. However, he may be limited. His outlook for the week is to be determined, but it's hard to envision him slipping out of the WR1 area.

Giants | Odell Beckham works out

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 15:25:17 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) caught some passes during a light workout before the team's final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is considered questionable for Week 1 at this point, so owners will need to check on his practice participation next week for a better idea of his status. He should still be selected early in fantasy drafts and is a No. 1 receiver when he is healthy.

Giants | Odell Beckham improving

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 18:05:18 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) has shown improvement in his rehab from an ankle injury and hopefully will be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Ben McAdoo.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Beckham will be able to practice next week leading up to the regular season opener. Beckham probably will not miss a lot of time because of his injury, so his fantasy value will not be affected much. He should still be considered a No. 1 receiver in all leagues.

Giants | Odell Beckham out Saturday

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 15:15:22 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) is out of the lineup for the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 26, against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: It has already been established that Beckham might be out until the season opener, if not a little longer. Still, keep an eye on Beckham and his status for the next couple weeks and see what happens. Beckham is a strong WR1 option when healthy and should post strong numbers in 2017.

Giants | Odell Beckham receiving new-age treatment

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 06:27:29 -0700

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) will receive Thera-Lase cell treatment on his injured ankle Friday, Aug. 25. The treatment's website claims that Thera-Lase "is a non-invasive, drug free laser therapy treatment which provides relief and healing for both chronic and acute pain, accelerates wound healing and reduces inflammation related to soft tissue injuries." Former Carolina Panthers DE Jared Allen used Thera-Lase two years ago after breaking his foot and was available to play in the Super Bowl three weeks later, which matches Beckham's timeline for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: OBJ may be ready for Week 1, but he could be missing some of his explosiveness off of the line, which will hurt his value. He's still a high-end WR1, but he could be subject to a slow start.

Giants | Odell Beckham not ruled out for Saturday

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 15:20:08 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) has not been ruled out for the third preseason game at this point, according to head coach Ben McAdoo. Beckham was not present for practice Thursday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham likely will miss the final two preseason games and may be questionable for at least Week 1 because of the ankle injury. Owners will need to keep an eye on his status over the next few weeks to have a better understanding of his injury. Beckham is a No. 1 fantasy receiver in all leagues when he is healthy.

Giants | Odell Beckham in jeopardy for season opener?

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 20:56:32 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) could potentially miss the team's regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys with the ankle injury he suffered in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Aug. 22, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: One of the sources reportedly suggested it is "not out of the question he could miss a week or two of the regular season," which suggests he could be dealing with a high ankle sprain. A potential two-game absence would be enough reason for owners to move Julio Jones ahead of him on their draft boards, but Beckham is still too much of a fantasy foundation piece to drop much further than that. Sterling Shepard and Brandon Marshall would get a bit of a bump in redraft leagues if Beckham is sidelined.

Giants | Odell Beckham only has sprain

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 16:56:47 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) got away with a sprained ankle after receiving a nasty hit against the Cleveland Browns Monday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: It could have been a lot worse for Beckham after a hard hit to the legs. The hit may be enough to really limit Beckham's playing time over the final two games of the preseason. Since he won't be missing any time, he remains a top-tier WR1 in all formats.

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) suggested he'll be ready for Week 1 after the preseason game Monday, Aug. 21.

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) underwent X-rays on the ankle injury he suffered in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 21, and they came back negative. He is scheduled to undergo further evaluation.

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the preseason game Monday, Aug. 21, and will not return. He was also evaluated for a concussion but passed all the tests.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Beckham will miss any time because of the injury. Beckham is one of the best receivers in the NFL and will be a No. 1 fantasy receiver in all leagues if he is healthy.

New York Giants QB Eli Manning and WR Odell Beckham Jr. are unlikely to suit up for the team's exhibition opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a certainty, but head coach Ben McAdoo said he will treat the opener like he did last year's exhibition lid-lifter, which means neither one of the Giants' key offensive pieces will see action. Expect to see both players in preseason Week 2 versus the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 21.

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 21:15:45 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. "deserves to get paid," owner John Mara said Friday, July 28. "We're going to pay him," Mara said. "It's just a question of when we enter into the contract. And I don't have a timetable on it right now."

Fantasy Tip: Beckham's floor has been 90 catches, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns after three seasons, so he is a first-round pick and high-end WR1 in any format.

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard said he should be able to "feast" inside this season with WR Odell Beckham Jr. and WR Brandon Marshall occupying defenses on the outside.

Fantasy Tip: The addition of Marshall is going to take away some targets from Shepard, but the Giants throw the ball a lot. He was impressive as a rookie, especially in the red zone, and he will still have value as a WR5.

Giants | Odell Beckham deal not top priority

Sat, 24 Jun 2017 11:53:17 -0700

New York Giants team president John Mara said WR Odell Beckham Jr. could receive a contract extension in the near future but it is not a top priority for the Giants at this time. Mara said there is no timetable for Beckham's extension.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham reportedly skipped most of the offseason workouts because of his contract situation but will be at training camp even if he does not have an extension. Beckham is one of the best receiver in the NFL and should be a first- or second-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. more ready than ever

Sun, 18 Jun 2017 09:59:02 -0700

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. believes everything is starting to come together for him as he enters his fourth season. "In every which way, I just feel it. ... Mentally, physically, spiritually, everything, I just don't think I've ever been as ready as I am now," Beckham said.

Fantasy Tip: It's a scary thought for NFL defenses for a player who has averaged 96 catches for 1,374 yards and 12 touchdowns over his first three seasons. In reality, OBJ's numbers should take a slight hit in 2017 with the addition of Brandon Marshall and first-round tight end Evan Engram as well as the continued improvement of second-year wideout Sterling Shepard. Nevertheless, Beckham remains in strong consideration for a top-five pick in fantasy drafts this summer.
