Eagles | Jordan Matthews has rapport with Bradford

Thu, 19 May 2016 09:58:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews flew to Oklahoma in March to work with QB Sam Bradford, and Matthews is OK with Bradford's trade request earlier in the offseason.

"If I'm cool with it, then everybody should be cool with it," Matthews said. "Look, if I want to be here, and I'm happy with it, and we can go out there and just compete, that's all I want to focus on. That's all that matters."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a decent 85-997-8 season last year, but he was really hamstrung by the absence of a legitimate target opposite of him. Rueben Randle and Chris Givens should help deter double coverages from him. Matthews is a high-end WR2 in fantasy, while Bradford's fragility makes him a low-end QB2.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor ready to prove himself

Thu, 05 May 2016 19:47:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor said he knows he has something to prove after a disappointing rookie season, and WR Jordan Matthews said Agholor's ankle injury robbed him of his explosiveness and contributed to his struggles.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles have several options behind Matthews, but Agholor has the most upside. Draft him as a WR5 and hope he starts to realize his potential.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to play more outside

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 16:59:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said he will play more on the outside during organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has primarily played from the slot, and more outside snaps in the offseason won't necessarily result in more outside snaps in the regular season. He has the talent and size to play from any position, but right now it's unclear who will be throwing to him. If he stays healthy, though, he can attain WR2 status.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to try outside sets

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 06:44:30 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews will line up outside some in training camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a decent 85-997-8 season last year but would really benefit from another weapon or two on offense. He's a high-end WR2 in fantasy.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to move from slot?

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 15:54:24 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews was one of the biggest slot receivers in the league under former head coach Chip Kelly. Beat writer Dave Spadaro suggests Matthews might be moved to the outside now, as Matthews absorbed a lot of shots in the middle of the field working in the slot, and the team could try to work him more into free space.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is a very good player and will be productive wherever he lines up on the field. It wouldn't be shocking to see the big target outside. While his reception totals could decrease slightly with a move to the outside, his yardage totals and long scoring chances could increase.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews catches two TDs

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 18:36:32 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews had seven catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-30 win over the New York Giants in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: It was Matthews' first two-score game of the year, and he piled up six scores over the final six games. Philadelphia's offense will likely look different next year, but Matthews should still be one of the main targets in the passing game and a WR2 for fantasy purposes.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews scores again

Sat, 26 Dec 2015 21:14:19 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews finished with six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in a 38-24 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 16, and he has caught touchdown in four of his last five games.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews' yardage totals have fluctuated throughout the season, but he has topped 100 yards in back-to-back games. There is no better time to take a chance on him at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has long TD grab

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 21:37:39 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews managed eight receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The highlight of his night was the 78-yard touchdown on a play where he was wide open.

Fantasy Tip: J-Matt did not show any ill-effects of the back injury which had his listed on the injury report. While it was just his second 100-yard game since the regular season opener, he has more than endeared himself to fantasy owners with three scores in the past four games.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews probable

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 10:37:36 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) practiced fully Friday, Dec. 18, and he's probable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will likely face off with Patrick Peterson, and he's a risky WR2 against the Arizona Cardinals on FantasyScore.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews, Sam Bradford practice

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 12:33:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) and QB Sam Bradford (shoulder) both practiced in full Thursday, Dec. 17. It is expected that Matthews will play in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) should play, but he'll likely draw shutdown corner Patrick Peterson, which is not good for fantasy owners expecting him to return positive value. Bradford ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) isn't attractive on FantasyScore, either, against a top-five overall defense Sunday night.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews unlikely to play

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 16:39:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews' (back) chances of playing in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals look to be slim.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles play the Sunday night game, so Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will be much too risky for FantasyScore gamers. Riley Cooper ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), Josh Huff ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Nelson Agholor ($2,000) could become more involved, but none are really worth a gamble against the Cardinals defense.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews limited

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 11:25:58 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) likely draws Patrick Peterson across from him this week, and he's a risky WR2 on FantasyScore.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews ailing

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 11:28:01 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) said he probably wouldn't be able to play if the Eagles were playing Tuesday, Dec. 15. His back ailment is lingering and it got worst last week.

Fantasy Tip: As was reported earlier, Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) did not practice today. He'll really need to be monitored as the week goes on. Even if he is able to play, he may not be at 100%. Additionally, Matthews could be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson. It's looking like Matthews will be a risky play this week.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews out of practice

Tue, 15 Dec 2015 09:19:47 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) is out of practice Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) likely has a duel with Patrick Peterson in Week 15, and he's coming off of a 4.9-point game on FantasyScore. He comes with significant risk this week.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews active Sunday

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 08:24:58 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) is active for Week 14's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) had been listed as questionable on the team's most recent edition of the injury report, although it is unknown when the injury occurred. He has 10 catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns over his last three games and should be viewed as nothing more than a flex option at this point.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews questionable

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 10:31:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (back) is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how this injury arose for Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap), as he wasn't on the injury report all week. He will really need to be monitored before tomorrow's game.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews a silver lining

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 14:51:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown in a blowout loss at the hand of the Detroit Lions Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has disappointed for the most part this year, but he really salvaged his day with the touchdown. He's not a reliable wide receiver, but he's still worth starting.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews hits a new low

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 17:57:40 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews had four catches for a season-low 13 yards in a 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has logged 21 yards or less in three of his last four games, and having Mark Sanchez under center has dealt another blow to his fantasy value in what has already been a disappointing season.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews explodes for TD in OT

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 22:21:41 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews had nine receptions for 133 yards in the Week 9 game against the Dallas Cowboys, including a 41-yard touchdown in overtime. He was targeted a game-high 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: J-Matt ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) helped plenty of FantasyScore owners to victory with his overtime heroics. Still, it was his first 100-yard game since Week 1, and his first visit to the end zone since Week 2. He should still be considered nothing more than a low-end WR2 or flex FantasyScore option until this kind of performance is a regular happening.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has hand injury

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 12:25:33 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (hand) has been dealing with a hand injury for a month now, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has had his fair share of drops this season, perhaps aided by the hand injury. He has underperformed so far in 2015 as the Eagles' best receiving option. The extent of Matthews' injury isn't clear, but expectations should be tempered as long as it exists.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews hurt by drops

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 01:53:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews dropped a couple of passes and failed to come down in bounds on another catch in a 27-16 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) entered the game second in the NFL in dropped passes, and he added to his total. He has finished with 50 yards or less in four straight games, and he isn't worth his price tag at FantasyScore right now.

Eagles | Philly WRs do nothing in loss

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 21:44:29 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Miles Austin led the team's wide receivers in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers, totaling 52 yards on four catches. WR Jordan Matthews was quiet with three grabs for 14 yards and WR Josh Huff had two receptions for only five yards.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is obviously the best FantasyScore option of the trio, with Austin ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Huff ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) only worth using as salary relief options.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews may work on outside

Sat, 24 Oct 2015 07:36:02 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews may see more time as an outside receiver in the Week 7 game against the Carolina Panthers because of the injuries to WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) and WR Josh Huff (knee).

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has caught at least five passes in five of his six games this season but has not scored a touchdown since Week 2. Owners could consider using Matthews this week since he likely will lead the team in targets.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews battling drops

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 18:43:48 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews is second in the NFL in dropped passes, but he said he isn't letting the issue change his routine or mindset.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) leads the Eagles in receptions and receiving yards, but with Sam Bradford spreading the ball around recently, Matthews has had 50 yards or less in three straight games. He is a WR3 at best at FantasyScore right now.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews mediocre on Monday

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 22:17:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews posted six receptions for 59 yards in the Week 6 game against the New York Giants Monday, Oct. 19. He was targeted 11 times.

Fantasy Tip: J-Matt ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) started off with a bang, but he hasn't had a 100-yard game since Week 1 and he hasn't scored a touchdown in four games. Still, as a WR3 or flex FantasyScore option you can do worse.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews quiet again

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 18:22:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews had five catches for 44 yards in a 39-17 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has had 50 receiving yards or less in three straight games and hasn't had double-digit targets since the opener. Sam Bradford ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has been spreading the ball around, and Matthews should no longer be considered a sure-fire starting option at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews quiet in Week 4

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 14:08:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews only caught three passes for 50 yards in a Week 4 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: It was Matthews' least productive outing of the season so far, but the positive news is that he was still targeted eight times. Don't give up on Matthews after one bad week. He's still the Eagles' biggest receiving threat.

Eagles | Nelson Agholor grinding it out

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 09:25:02 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor is grinding his way through similar to how WR Jordan Matthews did early in the 2014 season, according to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Fantasy Tip: Agholor ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has just four catches and 12 targets through the first three games of the season, so there is reason for pessimism. However, seasonal owners who are patient with the rookie could be rewarded down the stretch. Remember, Matthews ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) started slow last season before finishing with 35 receptions, 559 yards and five touchdowns over the final eight games. Agholor should see his role and production increase as the season progresses. Currently, though, he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format, including at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews solid again

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 20:08:12 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews had six catches for 80 yards and touchdown in a 20-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has looked the part of a No. 1 receiver in the first two games of the season, and he should be a steady option at FantasyScore throughout the year.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews hits century mark

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 22:16:44 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews posted 10 receptions for 102 yards in the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) was doing work in the slot, and his size advantage was working for him. He is one of the biggest receivers to work out of the slot, and he creates mismatches. FantasyScore players should be excited about him in future weeks as long as QB Sam Bradford can remain healthy.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews shaken up

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 18:10:55 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (undisclosed) was shaken up in the third quarter of the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: With Matthews ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) missed a handful of plays, but he was able to check back in. Miles Austin ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) actually had a couple of extra targets with Matthews sidelined, and is something to remember if J-Matt misses time in the future.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews staying in slot

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 05:45:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews is likely to remain in the slot this season, but he may play in some two-receiver sets on the outside. "I've been doing some of both (in the slot and outside,]" Matthews said. "But I'm going to do whatever the coaches want me to do, man. Shoot, if they want to put me at running back, I'll go and do it."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is a good WR2 in fantasy and figures to be very active as the lead option at receiver.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews continues to impress

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 18:26:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews was "the best player on the field" during joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Matthews earned such high praise from an opposing team's beat writer is a good sign that he really is poised for a big sophomore season as he prepares for a larger role in the offense. He is worth taking a chance on as a mid-range WR2.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has strong day

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 18:22:09 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews was a standout in practice Tuesday, Aug. 4. Matthews had most of his receptions on passes thrown by QB Sam Bradford, and he was most effective in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is expected to receive more play on the outside in 2015 than he did in his rookie season, but it's very difficult to justify removing him from the slot position where he's been so effective. Matthews enters the season with plenty of upside, making him a trendy pick as a WR2.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez holding workouts

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 09:40:16 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez is hosting workouts in San Diego with teammates. RB Darren Sproles, RB Ryan Mathews, WR Jordan Matthews, QB Matt Barkley, QB/WR G.J. Kinne, WR Quron Pratt, WR Rasheed Bailey, WR Seyi Ajirotutu and TE Andrew Gleichert were in attendance.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is likely to take a backseat once Sam Bradford returns to health, but he's not going to make it easy. Sanchez doesn't have as much upside as Bradford, but he'd be a midrange QB2 if he is able to nab the starting job.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to have bigger role

Fri, 03 Apr 2015 10:52:50 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said the team won't really have a designated No. 1 receiver in place to replace the production that will be lost with WR Jeremy Maclin signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. "People ask me about being the No. 1 wide receiver; Forget it," Matthews said. "I want us to be a receiving corps. That's what I want it to be." Matthews was the team's second leading receiver in 2014 with 67 catches for 872 yards and eight touchdowns as the slot receiver. Matthews is likely to play more in 2015 and on the outside. Head coach Chip Kelly said he sees Matthews playing "a lot of different spots." Kelly is confident in Matthews and WR Josh Huff, and TE Zach Ertz and RB Darren Sproles could be used more in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews should be in line for more production, at least in catches and yardage in 2015. He'll have a much more gifted quarterback in Sam Bradford throwing him passes, too. In Kelly's offense, though, there's opportunity for Huff and Riley Cooper to be successful in the right matchups.

Eagles | PHI confident in young receivers

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 14:37:40 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WRs Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff will forcibly have increased roles in 2015 with the departure of WR Jeremy Maclin to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Philadelphia staff is reportedly confident enough in the development of the two receivers, as well as second-year TE Zach Ertz.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews will be the receiver to own in Philadelphia this season. He came on strong with QB Mark Sanchez last year, but will have a new quarterback in Sam Bradford this year. Huff still has much to prove, but the talent and potential are there, possibly giving him sleeper appeal in this year's drafts.

Eagles | Zach Ertz to play more in 2015?

Mon, 26 Jan 2015 18:45:45 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz ranked ninth among tight ends in 2014 with 293 receiving yards out of the slot, but PhillyMag.com's Sheil Kapadia believes Ertz could see more time in the slot next year if WR Jordan Matthews spends more time outside.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz's production fluctuated throughout the year, but he showcased his pass-catching skills on multiple occasions. If he does end up in the slot more often, he will be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. He makes a nice upside pick at the tight end spot next year.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews' role to expand?

Mon, 26 Jan 2015 17:56:13 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews played 65% of the offensive snaps and ran 92.4% of his routes from the slot in 2014, per Pro FootballFocus.com. That was the role Eagles head coach Chip Kelly envisioned him in when the club drafted him last year. However, according to PhillyMag.com's Sheil Kapadia, the team could benefit from expanding Matthews' role by playing him outside more in two-wide receiver sets while keeping in him in the slot when the Eagles use three or more wide receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a solid rookie season that flew a bit under the radar due to the great seasons of some of his rookie wide receiver peers. Anything that would expand Matthews' role would increase his 2015 value. As a second-year wide receiver in Eagles head coach Chip Kelly's high-octane offense, he already makes for a WR3 with upside.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews caught 8 passes for 105 yards and 1 touchdown catch in Week 17 against the New York Giants. Matthews completed the year with 67 receptions, 872 yards and 8 touchdown receptions.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews appears to be good to go for the team's Week 13 game. Matthews has become one of the top receiving options for the Eagles, but has a tougher matchup against the Cowboys this week. Lower your expectations if you insert Matthews into your FantasyScore lineup.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (knee) fully participated in practice Monday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has played well the last several weeks and appears to be one of the top options in the Eagles' passing game. Matthews will be facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has been tough on wide receivers. Matthews could be a good option on FantasyScore, but owners may want to lower their expectations.
