Eagles | Jordan Matthews has chemistry with new QB

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 09:09:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews, who had seven catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win with QB Mark Sanchez starting, developed some nice chemistry with Sanchez in training camp this year. Sanchez may have completed more passes to Mathews than any other player in camp while working with the second-team offense. Sanchez immediately found Matthews for a touchdown when he relieved QB Nick Foles in Week 8 because of an injury, too.

"Of course we had something going on in camp," Matthews said. "We kind of had to. We were both on the second team at the time. So, I took the majority of the reps with him. After practice, I made sure I got extra reps with him. I knew that if I wanted to break into the lineup, I had to look good with the second-team first. That was definitely a point of emphasis for me back then. We continued to have a great relationship. I started building one with Nick (Foles), but now it's Mark's opportunity, so I have to go out and make plays for him."

Fantasy Tip: So, Matthews has five touchdowns on the season, and Sanchez has tossed him three of those. There is definitely some strong chemistry between these two, and it shouldn't go unnoticed. Matthews could be peaking at the right time for his fantasy owners as we near the playoffs. He could be a good candidate to buy right now.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez excels on Monday night

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:58:23 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, in his first start since Dec. 30, 2012. WR Jordan Matthews had 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and RB Darren Sproles had an eight-yard touchdown run and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez didn't look the the quarterback that we all came to know when he was with the New York Jets. Perhaps he can excel in the long run in Chip Kelly's system. Regardless, he should be a popular waiver wire acquisition this week, and he could put up a similar performance in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews probable

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 09:14:25 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (oblique) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 26, and is probable for Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off a two-touchdown performance in Week 3. He was likely a popular waiver wire addition to teams this week. However, don't rely too heavily on him moving forward. Remember, he's still a rookie and will have his ups and downs.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews paying dividends

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 17:22:10 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews stands 6-foot-3, and had a pair of touchdowns in Week 3 against the Washington Redskins. Head coach Chip Kelly likes his size, and looks forward to the future. "We wanted to get bigger at the wide receiver spot, especially in the slot," Kelly said Wednesday, Sept. 24. "Thought it would create some good matchups for us, and it's paying off for us." In the slot, Matthews will be matched against San Francisco 49ers CB Jimmie Ward, who is 5-foot-10.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews emerged as a solid fantasy option last weekend, and he could be a solid WR3/4 or flex play in most leagues this weekend. In FantasyScore, he costs just $6000 (or 12 percent of your salary cap), making him an intriguing mid-level option.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews rises depth chart

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 07:24:30 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews is now officially ahead of WR Brad Smith as the No. 3 wide receiver on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has a $4,000 price tag (8% of your cap) on FantasyScore in Week 2 against the Colts. He needs to show more before we can comfortably make him a flex option, but he is one to keep your eye on.
