Fri, 21 Jul 2017 08:20:57 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo has head coach Bill Belichick enamored by his ability, according to one scout. "Bill thinks he's got the next great one," the scout said. "I watched his snaps. I think he can be that. (Garoppolo) has a great base, and his mechanics are close enough to (QB Tom Brady) that you appreciate his willingness to learn and the coaching he's gotten there."

Patriots | Jimmy Garoppolo staying put?

Sun, 23 Apr 2017 17:14:33 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo "isn't going anywhere," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: With Garoppolo slated for backup duty again in 2017, he won't have much fantasy value outside of keeper leagues.

Patriots | 'Long shot' Jimmy Garoppolo gets traded

Sun, 23 Apr 2017 11:27:15 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo figures to be the target of several last-ditch trade attempts from the Cleveland Browns leading up to the start of the 2017 NFL Draft, but the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian considers a potential deal a "long shot" that would require an "overwhelming offer".

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots have stood firm all spring on Garoppolo and consider him more valuable than the 12th overall selection, while the Browns have shown no desire to trade the No. 1 overall pick, so don't expect a deal to happen between now and Thursday. Texas A&M's Myles Garrett remains the favorite for the top pick, although the Browns' front office and coaching staff is reportedly split between him and North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky.

Browns | Cleveland not done with Jimmy Garoppolo

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 14:06:35 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo remains of interest to the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland could continue to pursue a trade this weekend at the NFL owners meetings. As reported previously, Garoppolo is not expected to be traded. Neither side has acknowledged that a possible deal is or is not in the works.

Fantasy Tip: The asking price for Garoppolo is high and would likely cost the Browns at least one of their two first-round picks. Of course, the Patriots could easily keep Garoppolo as the heir apparent to Tom Brady if they believe Garoppolo is worth as much as they're asking for him. As for the immediate future, neither Garoppolo nor any Cleveland quarterback is close to QB1 territory.

Patriots | Belief Patriots will keep Jimmy Garoppolo

Thu, 16 Mar 2017 15:29:14 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo may end up sticking with the team for 2017 and beyond, as there is a "persistent belief within league circles" that they truly want to keep him. The thinking is that QB Tom Brady's "magic number" is three more years or perhaps fewer if he wins one more Super Bowl, and that head coach Bill Belichick has decided after one year of working with him that he doesn't believe QB Jacoby Brissett will become a "true franchise quarterback."

Fantasy Tip: For owners looking to ride Garoppolo in the upcoming campaign while he begins his journey on another club, it's starting to look like that may never come to fruition. Obviously, if he becomes a starter somewhere else, he'll be someone worth watching, but at this point in time it looks like he'll hold no fantasy value while remaining behind Brady in New England.

Browns | Door closing on Jimmy Garopppolo trade talk?

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 10:16:49 -0800

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo will not be traded to the Cleveland Browns no matter what they offer, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: When asked whether the holdup was the Patriots' love for Garoppolo or if the Browns wouldn't offer enough, Schefter said his opinion was not about the latter. It is becoming apparent New England really values Garoppolo and is taking seriously the likelihood Tom Brady's play will begin to fall off soon. The Patriots are gambling they can get something done with their current backup quarterback, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Browns | CLE to continue pursuit of Jimmy Garoppolo

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 15:30:07 -0800

The Cleveland Browns will continue their efforts to trade for New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are reportedly asking for the No. 1 overall pick in next month's draft. Meanwhile, the Browns have two 2017 first-round picks, two 2017 second-round selections and three second-round picks in 2018 following the Brock Osweiler trade. With that much ammunition, Cleveland could also consider a more proven veteran with a long-term contract. (Garoppolo is set to become a free agent in 2018.) Whichever route the Browns go, their quarterback will be no more than a low-end QB2 option in fantasy in 2017.

Patriots | No legitimate offers for Jimmy Garoppolo

Sun, 05 Mar 2017 17:43:09 -0800

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo hasn't been traded because no team has come close to meeting the asking price, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Unless a team steps up and makes a move for Garoppolo, he is going to be a fantasy afterthought as he sits behind Tom Brady for another year.
