Colts | Ryan Grant expected to start at WR?

Sun, 20 May 2018 13:56:40 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Ryan Grant is the favorite over Chester Rogers to start opposite T.Y. Hilton, based on the one-year, $5 million contract Grant signed in free agency, according to NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal.

Fantasy Tip: It's poor reasoning from Rosenthal and runs counter to The Indianapolis Star' Zak Keefer, who reported a couple of weeks ago that Rogers is the "leading candidate" to start in 2018. Rogers is reportedly picking up the new offense quickly and already has some chemistry with Andrew Luck. Grant can be a fine slot option, but asking him to hold up on the outside on a regular basis may be too big of a request.

Colts | Ryan Grant to move all over

Thu, 29 Mar 2018 19:18:39 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Ryan Grant has "position versatility" and can be productive on the outside or in the slot, according to head coach Frank Reich.

Fantasy Tip: Grant could end up seeing a lot of time in the slot for Indianapolis. Playing with Andrew Luck gives him a chance at fantasy relevance, and he could provide depth as a WR5.

Colts | Indianapolis inks Ryan Grant

Tue, 20 Mar 2018 09:10:02 -0700

Free-agent WR Ryan Grant (Redskins) reportedly signed a one-year contract worth $5 million with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, March 20.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts need help and depth in a lots of places, and Grant should see a significant amount of time on a team that doesn't have any proof players at receiver besides T.Y. Hilton. Ideally, Grant ends up being Indianapolis's third receiver who gets some run in the slot. He could flirt with fantasy relevancy in 2018, but he would probably need an injury to Hilton or Chester Rogers in order for it to happen.

Colts | Ryan Grant passes Indy's physical

Sun, 18 Mar 2018 16:51:10 -0700

Free-agent WR Ryan Grant (ankle) passed a physical with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, March 18, but left without a deal. He will visit with the Oakland Raiders next, a source said.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had a deal in place with the Baltimore Ravens, but he flunked their physical due to an ankle injury he suffered in the regular season finale. It appears the minor setback will not keep him from finding a home soon. Indy might be a better landing spot for his fantasy appeal, since Oakland has Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, etc.

Raiders | Oakland to check out Ryan Grant

Sat, 17 Mar 2018 16:29:00 -0700

Free-agent WR Ryan Grant (Redskins) will visit with the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, March 18.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had agreed on a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, but an ankle injury suffered in the regular season finale caused him to fail the physical and nullify the deal. It would be ironic if Grant landed in Oakland, as the Ravens turned to former Raiders WR Michael Crabtree after getting away from Grant.

Ravens | Baltimore officially adds Ryan Grant

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 16:37:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Ryan Grant (Redskins) officially agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday, March 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but an earlier report stated that it is a four-year deal worth $29 million.

Fantasy Tip: Grant probably will be at least the No. 3 receiver for the Ravens this season and could even be in the starting lineup. He is coming off a solid 2017 season and could be a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver in deeper fantasy leagues.

Ravens | Ryan Grant headed to Baltimore

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 17:46:52 -0700

Washington Redskins impending free-agent WR Ryan Grant agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens on a four-year contract worth $29 million with $14.5 million guaranteed and a $10 million signing bonus Tuesday, March 13.

Fantasy Tip: Grant was long a favorite of Redskins head coach Jay Gruden for his practice habits and finally saw some playing time in 2017, but this is a move that is hard to understand for a mostly unproven receiver who is stretched to be anything more than a slot option. If Baltimore overhauls the receiving corps like general manager Ozzie Newsome suggested earlier this offseason, Grant may be forced to be Joe Flacco's top option.

Redskins | Ryan Grant plays well in Big D

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 22:16:59 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant was targeted nine times, catching five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown Thursday, Nov. 30, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Grant set or matched his season highs in targets, receptions, yards and TDs on TNF; it was his second solid effort in three weeks. In between, however, he caught one pass for three yards so Grant's week-to-week production remains suspect, but his increased presence bears watching.

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (calf) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Grant has caught three passes in each of his last three games and recorded his first touchdown in Week 11. He likely will have a bigger role with Terrelle Pryor out but probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Ryan Grant limited

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 13:48:03 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (calf) was limited during practice Monday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had a solid outing in Week 11 and should have a solid role in the passing game against the New York Giants if he is able to play. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues, but owners probably can find better options to use in their lineups.

Redskins | Ryan Grant decent in Week 1

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 14:17:32 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant caught four passes for 61 yards in a 30-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had a decent game, but the rise of Terrelle Pryor on the depth chart could complicate things a little bit. There are also other receivers to consider such as Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed. In the meantime consider Grant a receiver with little fantasy value unless a rash of injuries hit.

Redskins | Ryan Grant still receiving kudos

Tue, 25 Jul 2017 10:47:54 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant has yet to lose the confidence of his coaching staff despite making only 39 catches in three seasons in large part because he is the best route-runner on the team this year or last year, including Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. "I'm easily Ryan Grant's biggest fan. He's always been our best pure route-runner out of everyone. … He's been a consummate pro. He says nothing and he works all the time. He's gotten a bad rap for situations that weren't completely his fault. The world will never know that," receivers coach Mike Hilliard said.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jay Gruden said last month Grant needed more opportunities, but it will be hard for him to get those with Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson almost certain to occupy the first three spots on the depth chart. In short, he'll need an injury to one of those three to be fantasy-viable and, even then, he would probably a fringe option at best.

Redskins | Ryan Grant 'our most consistent guy'

Sat, 17 Jun 2017 15:52:06 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant is "our most consistent guy, without a doubt, as far as being able to line up everywhere, run the routes exactly how we want them at the right depth coming out of them," head coach Jay Gruden told reporters during minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Gruden's praise, it is hard to see where he can find the opportunities Gruden so desperately wants him to have. Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson appear to have the top three receiver spot locked down, while tight end Jordan Reed is the focal point of the passing game. Owners can ignore Grant barring a rash of injuries in 2017.

Redskins | Jay Gruden not afraid of losing veteran WRs

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 18:01:28 -0800

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden told ESPN.com's John Keim on Wednesday, March 1, he feels good about Jamison Crowder, Ryan Grant and Josh Doctson and that he is "not going to blink" should DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon leave via free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Gruden has little choice but to believe in his young pups, but it would be foolish for fantasy owners to think Kirk Cousins isn't going to be hurt by the possible defections of Jackson and Garcon. Crowder and Grant work best out of the slot, while Doctson dealt with injuries for the bulk of his rookie season. Cousins would be a prime regression candidate in 2017 if Jackson and Garcon leave, which would allow Crowder and Doctson to have WR3 appeal.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder, Ryan Grant seeing chances

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 09:06:18 -0700

Washington Redskins WRs Jamison Crowder and Ryan Grant are trying to seize opportunities with WRs DeSean Jackson and Josh Doctson (foot) out of practices right now. Crowder had an active day Wednesday, June 1, receiving more targets from QB Kirk Cousins than any other first-team receiver. Doctson can also play the slot and could cut into Crowder's playing time. Grant lined up opposite WR Pierre Garcon and showed crisp route running and soft hands.

Fantasy Tip: With Doctson already injured as a rookie, Crowder could see decent playing time in the slot this year. However, there are plenty of mouths to feed alongside D-Jax, Garcon and Jordan Reed, so Crowder would likely be a fantasy flex in best-case scenario. Grant can be left to the waiver wire during drafts.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder to play slot

Tue, 17 May 2016 17:57:24 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder will serve as the Redskins' primary slot receiver in 2016, with WRs Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Ryan Grant also capable of playing in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson and Doctson currently have the most fantasy appeal in Washington, but don't completely disregard Garcon, either. Crowder is a sneaky sleeper candidate after tallying 59 catches for 604 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season, but don't view him as more than a WR5 at best in the Redskins' packed wide receiver corps.
