Redskins | Ryan Grant plays well in Big D

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 22:16:59 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant was targeted nine times, catching five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown Thursday, Nov. 30, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: Grant set or matched his season highs in targets, receptions, yards and TDs on TNF; it was his second solid effort in three weeks. In between, however, he caught one pass for three yards so Grant's week-to-week production remains suspect, but his increased presence bears watching.

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 18:21:51 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (calf) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, and is listed as questionable for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Grant has caught three passes in each of his last three games and recorded his first touchdown in Week 11. He likely will have a bigger role with Terrelle Pryor out but probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Ryan Grant limited

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 13:48:03 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (calf) was limited during practice Monday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had a solid outing in Week 11 and should have a solid role in the passing game against the New York Giants if he is able to play. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues, but owners probably can find better options to use in their lineups.

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 09:25:12 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (concussion) is listed as one of the starting wide receivers against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Grant has been cleared to play and could see some targets with Terrelle Pryor and Jordan Reed out. He has not posted great numbers this season, and owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant (concussion) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Grant may be a game-time decision since he has not been cleared at this point. He could have a bigger role in the passing game if he plays since Terrelle Pryor has been ruled out. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better options for their lineups and can avoid Grant.

Redskins | Ryan Grant decent in Week 1

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 14:17:32 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant caught four passes for 61 yards in a 30-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Grant had a decent game, but the rise of Terrelle Pryor on the depth chart could complicate things a little bit. There are also other receivers to consider such as Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed. In the meantime consider Grant a receiver with little fantasy value unless a rash of injuries hit.

Redskins | Ryan Grant still receiving kudos

Tue, 25 Jul 2017 10:47:54 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant has yet to lose the confidence of his coaching staff despite making only 39 catches in three seasons in large part because he is the best route-runner on the team this year or last year, including Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. "I'm easily Ryan Grant's biggest fan. He's always been our best pure route-runner out of everyone. … He's been a consummate pro. He says nothing and he works all the time. He's gotten a bad rap for situations that weren't completely his fault. The world will never know that," receivers coach Mike Hilliard said.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Jay Gruden said last month Grant needed more opportunities, but it will be hard for him to get those with Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson almost certain to occupy the first three spots on the depth chart. In short, he'll need an injury to one of those three to be fantasy-viable and, even then, he would probably a fringe option at best.

Redskins | Ryan Grant 'our most consistent guy'

Sat, 17 Jun 2017 15:52:06 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant is "our most consistent guy, without a doubt, as far as being able to line up everywhere, run the routes exactly how we want them at the right depth coming out of them," head coach Jay Gruden told reporters during minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Gruden's praise, it is hard to see where he can find the opportunities Gruden so desperately wants him to have. Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder and Josh Doctson appear to have the top three receiver spot locked down, while tight end Jordan Reed is the focal point of the passing game. Owners can ignore Grant barring a rash of injuries in 2017.

Redskins | Ryan Grant will see the field

Sun, 11 Jun 2017 17:17:58 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant's versatility stands out, according to head coach Jay Gruden, and Gruden said Grant can line up "all over the place" and is "going to play" this season.

Redskins | Jay Gruden not afraid of losing veteran WRs

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 18:01:28 -0800

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden told ESPN.com's John Keim on Wednesday, March 1, he feels good about Jamison Crowder, Ryan Grant and Josh Doctson and that he is "not going to blink" should DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon leave via free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Gruden has little choice but to believe in his young pups, but it would be foolish for fantasy owners to think Kirk Cousins isn't going to be hurt by the possible defections of Jackson and Garcon. Crowder and Grant work best out of the slot, while Doctson dealt with injuries for the bulk of his rookie season. Cousins would be a prime regression candidate in 2017 if Jackson and Garcon leave, which would allow Crowder and Doctson to have WR3 appeal.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder, Ryan Grant seeing chances

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 09:06:18 -0700

Washington Redskins WRs Jamison Crowder and Ryan Grant are trying to seize opportunities with WRs DeSean Jackson and Josh Doctson (foot) out of practices right now. Crowder had an active day Wednesday, June 1, receiving more targets from QB Kirk Cousins than any other first-team receiver. Doctson can also play the slot and could cut into Crowder's playing time. Grant lined up opposite WR Pierre Garcon and showed crisp route running and soft hands.

Fantasy Tip: With Doctson already injured as a rookie, Crowder could see decent playing time in the slot this year. However, there are plenty of mouths to feed alongside D-Jax, Garcon and Jordan Reed, so Crowder would likely be a fantasy flex in best-case scenario. Grant can be left to the waiver wire during drafts.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder to play slot

Tue, 17 May 2016 17:57:24 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder will serve as the Redskins' primary slot receiver in 2016, with WRs Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Ryan Grant also capable of playing in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson and Doctson currently have the most fantasy appeal in Washington, but don't completely disregard Garcon, either. Crowder is a sneaky sleeper candidate after tallying 59 catches for 604 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season, but don't view him as more than a WR5 at best in the Redskins' packed wide receiver corps.

Redskins | Jamison Crowder becoming a mainstay

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 13:51:30 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder played 82% of the offensive snaps in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is becoming a mainstay in the passing game, pushing WRs Ryan Grant and Andre Roberts down the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Crowder's ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) short-term rise in fantasy value is mainly due to DeSean Jackson's absence. Crowder has nine catches in the last two weeks on 14 targets. The Redskins are on bye this week and Jackson could return for Week 9, meaning Crowder could once again become a forgotten man.

Redskins | Ryan Grant sees more snaps

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 06:14:10 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant played 44 snaps Sunday, Sept. 20, which is the most of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Grant ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) caught three balls for 45 yards. He might be a speculative flyer on FantasyScore against the New York Giants in Week 3.

Redskins | Ryan Grant to see more playing time?

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 13:19:23 -0700

Washington Redskins WR Ryan Grant played in WR DeSean Jackson's stead after Jackson left the game with a hamstring strain in Week 1. It's still unclear if Grant or someone else will assume that role until Jackson returns. WR Rashad Ross could also see more playing time, in the opinion of Mike Jones of The Washington Post.

Fantasy Tip: Pierre Garcon, Jordan Reed and Alfred Morris are really the only Redskins' offensive players who should be considered in your starting lineup. Neither Grant nor any of Washington's other wide receivers are worth adding at this point. We'll see what Week 2 brings.

Redskins | DeSean Jackson to test shoulder more

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 11:15:36 -0700

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shoulder), who was limited in practice Friday, Sept. 19, didn't look 100 percent fluid in individual drills, but he was able to catch the ball. He will work out with trainers Saturday, Sept. 20, and Sunday, Sept. 21, before the team makes a decision on whether he can play in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team remains optimistic about his chances of playing. WR Ryan Grant will receive more playing time if Jackson can't play.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson's $6,000 salary at FantasyScore is a decent-sized risk, even if he does play. Will he be limited? And what are the chances of re-injury? Andre Roberts ($3,700) is a fine sleeper play if D-Jax doesn't play.
