Patriots | James White, Dion Lewis co-starters

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 14:38:02 -0700

New England Patriots RBs James White and Dion Lewis are listed as co-starters on the Patriots' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Take this one with a grain of salt, a sizable grain of salt. The Patriots backfield is stacked, but White and Lewis are both passing-down, change-of-pace backs. Mike Gillislee is expected to be the actual runner, particularly in goal-line and short-yardage situations.

Patriots | Dion Lewis, James White listed on first-team

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 11:20:21 -0700

New England Patriots RBs Dion Lewis and James White are ahead of Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee on the team's unofficial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Unofficial depth charts in early August before even one preseason game has been played are usually pretty meaningless, but Gillislee on the third team is notable, even if he has been sidelined for approximately a week due to a hamstring injury. Lewis and White have been with the team longer than Burkhead, which likely explains why they "rank" higher. Burkhead is still the player to target here if Gillislee can't get healthy soon. White is a RB3 in PPR, while Lewis is worthy of a bench spot in fantasy.

Patriots | James White pegged for prime role

Wed, 31 May 2017 07:49:43 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White has firmly entrenched himself as the passing-down back for the club.

Fantasy Tip: White's snaps bloomed from 290 in 2015 to 425 last season, and the crowded backfield shouldn't play too much of a role on him. He has earned Bill Belichick and Tom Brady's trust, and he should have yours as a solid RB3 in PPR leagues.

Patriots | More on James White terms

Fri, 21 Apr 2017 06:48:09 -0700

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots RB James White's three-year extension is worth $12.69 million with $5.69 million guaranteed and a $4 million signing bonus.

Fantasy Tip: These guys have a lot of running backs and only so many plays to go around. White made a strong case for Super Bowl MVP, and he, and Dion Lewis, have the most upside in the backfield that also includes Rex Burkhead and potentially Mike Gillislee. This could be a weekly mix and match, but White is a high-end RB3 right now.

Patriots | James White agrees to extension

Tue, 18 Apr 2017 16:11:48 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White agreed to a three-year contract extension Tuesday, April 18, according to a source. He is now signed through 2020. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots backfield is pretty stacked now with the likes of James White, Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead and possibly Mike Gillislee, among others. Talk about a committee. This backfield could turn into a crapshoot if all these guys stay healthy. White and Lewis have the most upside, but they're all better fits for PPR leagues.

Patriots | James White sets points record

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 12:16:51 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White set a Super Bowl record with 20 points scored in Super Bowl LI.

Fantasy Tip: White played an important role in the Patriots' regular season, but no one anticipated the output he achieved in the Super Bowl. He has cemented himself as a PPR machine, but he'll still be splitting touches with Dion Lewis, assuming both players are healthy. Even so, White is at worst a late-round sleeper in PPR leagues for next season.

Patriots | James White breaks records

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 05:15:12 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots RB James White's 14 receptions and 110 receiving yards broke records for the respective categories by a running back in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5.

Fantasy Tip: White rushed six times for 29 yards and two scores, and he added a touchdown through the air as well. He was simply incredible, and the team rode him in the second half and overtime. It'll be interesting to see if he has usurped Dion Lewis entering next season, which would make him at least a high-end RB3 in fantasy.

Patriots | James White scores three times

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 19:53:52 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White had six carries for 29 yards and two touchdowns and caught 14 passes for 110 yards and a score in a 34-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5.

Fantasy Tip: New England took to the air early and often after falling behind, and White took advantage. Dion Lewis appeared to suffer an injury in the game, and if it is serious enough to linger into 2017, White could have some appeal in PPR formats.

Patriots | James White finds end zone

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 13:53:40 -0800

New England Patriots RB James White caught three passes for 32 yards and one touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 16. He also rushed for 14 yards on one carry.

Fantasy Tip: White has been involved in the running and passing game over the last few weeks and could receive more touches in Week 17 if the team has the No. 1 seed in the playoffs wrapped up. He can be a flex option in leagues depending on his offensive role.
