New England Patriots RB Shane Vereen was on the field for 17 offensive snaps in the first half of the Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Sept. 29, with RB Stevan Ridley in for six snaps, and RB James White in for two. The team ran two plays with two running backs on the field simultaneously.
Fantasy Tip: Vereen's fantasy owners have to like the snap distribution, although Ridley actually leads the team in rushing with 15 yards on three totes, while Vereen has nine yards on four runs. Vereen also has 12 yards on three receptions while the other two have no catches. Vereen is the best fantasy option of the trio, but neither has done much of anything Monday.

New England Patriots RB James White is expected to make his NFL debut in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He is not listed on the team's inactive list.
Fantasy Tip: White was a preseason sensation, but he has yet to crack the active list until Monday. He could be involved in the passing game, running short routes out of the backfield, forcing the Kansas City linebackers into pass coverage. White is worth keeping an eye on. The Patriots have Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen healthy, so it isn't likely White sees many carries. However, in the past we have seen a third RB emerge in New England and actually be fairly useful, and White could be that guy over time.

New England Patriots RB James White has been declared inactive for Week 1.
Fantasy Tip: Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen should receive most of the work at running back during the game. Vereen costs $5,100 on FantasyScore, which should be a good buy since it is a point-per-reception league, and Vereen should contribute in the passing game.

New England Patriots RB James White saw a number of reps with the first-team offense in practice Wednesday, Aug. 13, with RB Stevan Ridley seeing most of his reps with the second-team offense. RB Shane Vereen also saw some reps with the top unit.
Fantasy Tip: White has reportedly impressed the coaching staff, and his presence could eat into the touches of Ridley if he continues to impress late in the preseason. The running back picture is shaping up as a three-headed monster (what else is new?) in New England. Ridley and Vereen are still the most promising as far as fantasy value is concerned, but White is emerging as a deep sleeper.

New England Patriots RB James White has been performing well during training camp and has shown a lot of maturity during practice, according to QB Tom Brady. "He's done a great job since he's got here," Brady said. "He's got a real maturity for someone who is just getting out of college. He's made a lot of really great plays out here. We're all trying to work to get better, and we're all trying to make improvements. We can all do it. The young players need to come out here and keep working hard, and he's one of those guys who has been out here every day so he's been able to do that. He's been able to make a mistake, get the correction, come out again and not make the mistake the next day, so it's been great."
