Patriots | Two contenders in NE for third-down RB

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 15:32:56 -0700

New England Patriots RBs James White and Dion Lewis combined for 12 carries and 45 yards and added six catches for 56 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Considering five of those six catches came from Lewis, that could give him a leg up in the race to replace RB Shane Vereen. Whoever gets this job could see some decent time in the Patriots' running game, so monitor how this goes.

Patriots | James White the favorite for third down?

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 12:34:56 -0700

New England Patriots RBs James White and Brandon Bolden are the top two candidates right now for the third-down running back position, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Travaris Cadet and Dion Lewis will also compete behind White and Bolden.

Fantasy Tip: White had an impressive performance in the Patriots' first preseason game last week, catching four passes for 52 yards. Bolden won't be a pushover, but White may be on his way to being New England's pass-catching running back. He's worth a roster spot in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Brandon Bolden moving up depth chart

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 20:40:25 -0700

New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden is currently considered the leader in the race for the third-down back job, ahead of RB James White. Over the past three practices he has been the primary pass-catching and blocking back for QB Tom Brady.

Fantasy Tip: Bolden has been getting important reps, and he could be a factor for fantasy owners in deeper leagues which reward points per reception.

Patriots | James White to be top option at RB?

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 18:31:28 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White has the chance to be the first running back on the field when the regular seasons kicks off.

Fantasy Tip: White is in the hunt for the top spot, fighting competing with RBs Travaris Cadet, Jonas Gray and Dion Lewis for touches in training camp and the preseason. This will be a position battle which could bear fruit for fantasy owners late in the preseason, but it is way too murky of a situation to make a call at this juncture.

Patriots | NE RBs in close battle

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 16:01:41 -0700

New England Patriots RBs James White, Travaris Cadet and Dion Lewis aren't far apart in the battle to take over the pass-catching role vacated by New York Giants RB Shane Vereen, according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.

Fantasy Tip: This position battle should begin to have a clearer picture once training camp commences. Cadet has more experience, but White and Lewis have the talent to win the position as well. Stay tuned to this situation as training camp progresses.

Patriots | James White could break out

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 15:48:41 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White is expected to make a jump in his second year in the NFL, according to Paul Perillo of Patriots Football Weekly.

Fantasy Tip: LeGarrette Blount is the best bet to have the most success out of the Patriots' backfield in 2015. RBs Brandon Bolden, Travaris Cadet and White will compete for playing time behind Blount. With Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen gone, there is plenty of opportunity for White and the others to prove themselves. However, aside from Blount, no other New England running back should be regarded as higher than a RB4 at this point.

Patriots | James White expected to start

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 12:01:44 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White is expected to be the lead back this season, according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. White has received the most quality repetitions in organized team activities so far.

Fantasy Tip: There's still plenty of time for someone like LeGarrette Blount to "steal" White's starting job. The Patriots' backfield could very well turn into a committee with White, Blount, Jonas Gray, James Develin and Travaris Cadet, among others. White and Blount probably have the most potential value, but they shouldn't be seen past RB3 territory.

Patriots | James White may receive bigger role

Sun, 05 Apr 2015 06:50:59 -0700

New England Patriots RB James White is believed to be a candidate for the receiving running back role in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: White only rushed for 38 yards and caught five passes for 23 yards this past season but could take over Shane Vereen's role in the offense. White probably would not be more than a later-round pick in drafts but would have value in point-per-reception leagues.
