Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 21 of his 35 pass attempts for a season-low 249 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Raiders | Derek Carr more than a thrower

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 10:28:42 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is more polished and isn't a gunslinger, according to former QB Brett Favre.

Fantasy Tip: When you think of the term "gunslinger," you think of a high-touchdown output and someone that takes more risks, which lead to more interceptions. Carr threw for 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season. There is room to grow from there, but taking him as anything more than a low-end QB1 would be a risk.

Raiders | Amari Cooper feeling comfortable

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 20:15:36 -0700

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper has received praise for his performance during the team's offseason program, and he has continued to build rapport with QB Derek Carr. He has appeared confident and comfortable this spring.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper was banged up last season, and he appears to hit a wall in his first season. With a full offseason program and experience of his first NFL season, he should take a big step forward and be one of the Top 10 wide receivers in the game in 2016.

Raiders | Derek Carr, Amari Cooper linking up

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:08:41 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr and WR Amari Cooper have shown good chemistry during organized team activities. The two players were not able to work together last season because Carr was recovering from an injury.

Fantasy Tip: Carr posted terrific numbers last season and will have the same weapons to work with this season. He should be considered a starting quarterback in most fantasy leagues. Cooper finished his season with 1,070 yards and six touchdowns. He should receive more targets in 2016 and can be a No. 1 receiver in many fantasy leagues.

Raiders | Derek Carr in elite company

Sun, 14 Feb 2016 16:55:41 -0800

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr's 53 touchdown passes through his first two seasons are second only to retired QB Dan Marino's record of 68 touchdown passes.

Fantasy Tip: Carr tossed 32 touchdowns in 2015, and he and receiver Amari Cooper form the foundation of a blossoming passing attack. Carr could be a low-end QB1 next season, and Cooper should be a solid WR2.

Raiders | Amari Cooper confident in Derek Carr

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 18:40:06 -0800

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper said he has "no doubt" that QB Derek Carr will be an elite player at the position.

Fantasy Tip: While Cooper's option may be a bit biased, the two young players did display strong chemistry in Cooper's rookie year. Cooper will enter 2016 as a solid WR2 candidate, and Carr is a high-end backup and a legit starting candidate against friendlier matchups.

Raiders | Derek Carr in elite company

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 10:39:35 -0800

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr would have the second-most two-touchdown games for a player in his first two seasons with two touchdown tosses Thursday, Dec. 24, against the San Diego Chargers. He would tie Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning for second place in the category.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) has a decent matchup and is a midrange grab on FantasyScore.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed just 12 of his 29 pass attempts for 135 yards in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos, but he did have a pair of touchdown strikes with no turnovers.

Fantasy Tip: Carr has the Raiders thinking playoffs in December for the first time in a while. While that might not happen, he has emerged as a solid fantasy option heading into Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 24 of 37 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-21 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 12.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr failed to throw a touchdown for the first time in eight games, completing 13 of his 25 passes for 169 yards in an 18-13 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Carr failed to find the end zone for the first time since the season opener, and he has still managed to throw multiple touchdowns in seven of his 10 games this season. Don't write him off after one poor outing.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr had his third straight 300-yard passing game, completing 29 of 43 passes for 302 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 30-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Even in the loss, Carr ($8,200, 16.4% of cap) delivered for fantasy owners. He has thrown multiple touchdowns in seven of his nine games this year, and he has 13 in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: Carr has been phenomenal over the last three weeks, chucking at least 289 yards and three touchdowns in each game, while throwing just one INT. He has merged into must-play territory in traditional fantasy and is sure to see his daily price skyrocket.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 23 of 36 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-20 win over the New York Jets in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) is having a solid second season. He has thrown multiple touchdowns in five of his last six games, and he has seven touchdown and no interceptions in his last two. If you want to try save money at the quarterback spot at FantasyScore, Carr is worth a look.

Raiders | Derek Carr better on deep ball

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 09:06:21 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr has improved his deep passing game this year, throwing six touchdowns on passes 20 yards or deeper, which is tied for the NFL lead. Carr struggled with the deep ball in his rookie season.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) is maturing and improving quickly in his second season, and better playmakers and a vertical offense surely has helped him. In the right matchups, he can easily put up valuable QB1 numbers. However, he faces a stiff test in the New York Jets this weekend. Look to fade him on FantasyScore for this one.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 24 of his 31 pass attempts for 289 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 7 game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) apparently did his homework during the bye, looking good against San Diego after the two-week layoff. He has been a strong FantasyScore value in spots this season when the matchup is favorable against a mediocre pass defense.

Raiders | Derek Carr not being pressured much

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 16:50:34 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is the 30th-least pressured quarterback in the league right now at 25.9% of his dropbacks. His 93.9 passer rating through five games is up from his 76.6 rating in his rookie year in 2014. Carr is also getting the ball out at 2.33 seconds after the snap, which is seventh-fastest in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) found success against the Chargers at home last year but struggled against them on the road, and the Bolts are allowing just 19.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year. Coming off the bye week, Carr isn't the most attractive daily QB on the road.

Raiders | Oakland offense more efficient

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 17:16:49 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr and the rest of the Raiders' offense have put Oakland on pace for 67 punts in 2015. The Raiders punted 109 times last season.

Fantasy Tip: The young trio of Carr, Latavius Murray and Amari Cooper has really propelled the Raiders in 2015; and Michael Crabtree has shown he's not washed up. The defense is no pushover either. Cooper in particular has solidified himself as an every-week starter, while Murray is solidly in RB2 territory.

Raiders | Derek Carr seeing few blitzes

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 16:09:30 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr has been blitzed on just 13.4% of his dropbacks this year through four games. However, he's facing a Denver Broncos team that leads the league with 18 sacks in Week 5. Eleven different Denver players have recorded sacks this year.

Fantasy Tip: As Legwold mentions, the Broncos have been blitz-happy under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, and they'll likely send the heat on Carr much more often. Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has a tough matchup against the top-ranked defense, and he should be faded on FantasyScore.

Raiders | Derek Carr has record in sights

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 17:00:39 -0700

Should Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr complete 30 passes in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos, it would be the fourth time doing so in his career. That would be the most of any quarterback through his first two seasons in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will certainly have his work cut out for him if he is to achieve this feat. The Broncos have been stellar on defense this year and have wreaked havoc on opposing quarterbacks. Invest in him at your own risk.

Raiders | Derek Carr set to shine?

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 18:45:32 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr faces the Chicago Bears in Week 4, and the Bears have allowed the second most touchdown passes this season.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) is coming off back-to-back strong performances, and he draws one of the best matchups of any quarterback in Week 4. Start him with confidence at FantasyScore.

Raiders | OAK trio has historical day

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 12:25:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr, RB Latavius Murray and WR Amari Cooper gained more passing/rushing/receiving yards in Week 3 than any offensive trio under the age of 25 had gained in a single game in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders offense is proving to be legitimate. Carr, Murray and Cooper are a solid corps to build on, and at least Murray and Cooper have turned into every-week starters.

Raiders | Derek Carr receives strong praise

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 08:51:56 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr received praise from Cleveland Browns CB Tramon Williams after the Raiders defeated the Browns in Week 3. "I don't throw this name around too often, but he kind of seems to have a skill set similar to QB Aaron Rodgers, and that's saying something," said Williams. "Obviously we don't know if he's going to turn out to be that player, but skill set-wise, he can move, he can do the whole nine, he has a strong arm, a quick release and he can read defenses as a young quarterback." Browns CB Joe Haden agrees that Carr is a special talent.

Fantasy Tip: Carr threw for 314 yards, two touchdowns and no interception in the win, marking the second straight week with over 300 yards passing and at least two touchdown throws. A spread offense and new dynamic receiving threats will make Carr a force to be reckoned with in 2015. He has low-end QB1 upside and makes for a nice, cheap value pick at the QB position on FantasyScore with the right matchup.

Raiders | Derek Carr shines in victory

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 18:48:42 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 314 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) faces the Chicago Bears in Week 4, and might be a decent mid-tier FantasyScore option against a poor team.

Raiders | Derek Carr tops 300 yards

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 19:15:48 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr completed 30 of 46 passes for 351 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in a 37-33 win vs. the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: After an atrocious outing in Week 1, Carr ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) flashed his upside Sunday. He could be worth a look at FantasyScore as a low-priced alternative throughout the year, but a Week 3 matchup with a solid Cleveland secondary isn't overly inviting.

Raiders | Derek Carr set to start

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 14:59:53 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) took part in his third straight full practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as probable for Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has a very tough matchup against the Ravens this weekend, even with Terrell Suggs (Achilles') out for the season. We don't recommend using Carr as your FantasyScore starting signal caller.

Raiders | Derek Carr fully practices

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 14:53:17 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) appears to be on track to play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. Carr only recorded 61 passing yards in the season opener and should not be a fantasy option for the time being.

Raiders | Derek Carr expected to play

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 16:03:00 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. Del Rio expects Carr to be able to play in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) will need at least one more week to prove he deserves to be started, especially coming off an injury. He's too risky of a play this week on FantasyScore, especially facing a better than average Baltimore Ravens defense.

Raiders | Derek Carr leaning in right way

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 11:29:17 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) has given head coach Jack Del Rio optimism that Carr will play in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) isn't a real good start against the Baltimore Ravens on FantasyScore this week.

Raiders | Derek Carr looks good for Week 2

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 21:46:38 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) looks to be in "good shape" as far as practicing and playing in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday, Sept. 15. Carr left the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but X-rays on his thumb were negative and he was diagnosed with a bruise.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) might be able to play, but facing a stingy Baltimore pass defense which completely shut down Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos is a difficult task. FantasyScore players would be wise to shy away from Carr, whether he plays or not.

Raiders | Derek Carr's swelling subsiding

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 16:42:46 -0700

Updating previous reports, Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr's (thumb) tests showed "nothing serious" with his hand, but head coach Jack Del Rio doesn't know if Carr will be able to play in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens. However, Del Rio said the team is "relieved," and the swelling in Carr's hand has already started going down. The Raiders don't have any plans of adding another quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: As of right now, it's looking like a decent chance Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will be able to suit up against the Ravens, but i'll depend on how much he can practice later this week. Even if he does start, he'll be a pretty risky play on FantasyScore against a solid Ravens defense that has an improved secondary.

Raiders | Can Derek Carr play in Week 2?

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 14:08:36 -0700

Contrary to a previous report, Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) has a good chance of playing against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 after receiving encouraging news from his MRI exam Monday, Sept. 14, according to a team source. Carr was diagnosed with a bruised thumb. His ability to play will be determined by how much the swelling in his hand goes down this week.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) winds up playing against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, we don't suggest starting him on FantasyScore against a much-improved secondary and a squad with a solid pass rush, even without Terrell Suggs (Achilles'). It'll likely come down to how much Carr can practice this week. Oakland's receiving options could be very shaky plays on FantasyScore, too, especially if Matt McGloin has to start.

Raiders | Derek Carr not expected to play in Week 2

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 13:22:26 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) is not expected to play in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to sources. Carr was replaced by QB Matt McGloin after injuring his hand in Week 1. Carr completed seven of 12 passes for 61 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals before being hurt.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Terrell Suggs out for the year, the Ravens defense is a daunting task with an improved secondary if McGloin has to make the start. That'll make all of Oakland's offensive weapons much less intriguing to FantasyScore players, especially in the passing game.

Raiders | Derek Carr has bruised thumb

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 11:20:48 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (thumb) suffered a bruised thumb during the team's Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. X-rays on Carr's thumb were negative, and the team is waiting on his MRI results. His status for Week 2 will depend on the swelling in his thumb.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out for an update on his status over the next few days. The thumb injury could affect his play if he is active, and he would not be a great fantasy option. Matt McGloin would start if Carr is not able to play and should be avoided.

Raiders | X-rays negative for Derek Carr

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 16:55:08 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) had x-rays on his hand after the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and head coach Jack Del Rio said they were negative.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) will miss time, but if he does it will be Matt McGloin ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) getting the nod in Week 2 under center.

Raiders | Derek Carr unable to return

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 16:35:47 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (hand) left the Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the second quarter due to a hand injury. The severity of his injury is unknown. QB Matt McGloin checked into the game and finished.

Fantasy Tip: Carr ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) did not get off to a good start for FantasyScore players that maybe were thinking he could have a big day connecting with rookie Amari Cooper. If Carr cannot go in Week 2 and beyond, McGloin ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) might be a cheap option going forward. McGloin is worth adding in standard fantasy leagues which require two starting QBs.

Raiders | Derek Carr bonding with Michael Crabtree

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 17:27:12 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is building on-field chemistry with WR Michael Crabtree, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. "He [Crabtree] and Derek [Carr] have definitely established a rapport in the short time they've been together. We love the fact that they're making plays in practice, because we want to play the same way in the game. They're working hard. They work hard together. I'm glad that Michael's part of our team," said Musgrave.

Fantasy Tip: Crabtree is certainly the most accomplished receiver in Oakland, and he should earn the starting job opposite rookie Amari Cooper. Crabtree is being drafted as a WR5, and he'll have upside to offer very late in drafts.

Raiders | Derek Carr to throw deeper?

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 15:17:47 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr may look to throw more downfield this year due to new WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, a new coaching staff and a more solid offensive line.

Fantasy Tip: Carr has a lot of weapons at his disposal with Cooper, Crabtree and some young, talented tight ends and running backs. Carr still needs to improve, and it could take some time to get used to the new coaching staff and roster. He should still make a solid backup fantasy quarterback.

Raiders | Amari Cooper wants to work with QB

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:08:57 -0700

Oakland Raiders rookie WR Amari Cooper said he wants to individually catch passes with QB Derek Carr three more times before the start of training camp, according to Carr.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign when a receiver wants to spend more time with his quarterback. Carr and Cooper seem to be developing the beginning of a good rapport. Carr has already lauded Cooper's rout-running and work ethic. We'll see what happens once they hit the field, though. Cooper should be drafted as a low-end WR2 in his rookie season, while Carr should be taken as a fantasy backup.

Raiders | Derek Carr performs well in practice

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 11:13:15 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (finger) participated in practice Tuesday, June 9, and threw every pass that was called. Carr showed good velocity during practice and did not appear to be bothered by his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Carr should be fine for the start of training camp and will have some new wide receivers to work with this season. Carr should not be a starting option in most fantasy leagues but could be a solid No. 2 quarterback on teams.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (finger) has been cleared to participate in the team's upcoming minicamp, according to a source. Carr may not be at full strength when throwing at minicamp but should be fully recovered by the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Carr looks to be recovering nicely from his finger injury and should be ready for camp. He is coming off a very solid rookie season and will now have Amari Cooper to work with in the passing game. Carr could be a solid No. 2 quarterback for owners this season.
