Mets | Logan Verrett holds down Philly

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 23:19:55 -0700

New York Mets SP Logan Verrett scattered six hits and one walk over six scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win Tuesday, April 19, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Verrett has allowed just one earned run in 13 innings this season, and that run came in a relief appearance April 10. Verrett has spun 12 scoreless innings over his past two outings, but with Jacob deGrom heading back to the rotation it will be Verrett who heads to the bullpen and is the odd-man out. However, remember him later if he gets another chance to start.

Mets | Logan Verrett starting Tuesday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 10:44:35 -0700

Confirming a previous report, New York Mets P Logan Verrett will start in place of SP Jacob deGrom (lat) against the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, April 19. DeGrom was placed on the bereavement/medical emergency list because of an issue with his newborn baby.

Fantasy Tip: Verrett has posted a 1.29 ERA in two appearances (one start) this year, with three walks and seven strikeouts over seven innings. He has a favorable matchup against a light-hitting Philadelphia squad and should be viewed as a value play in daily fantasy games.

Mets | Jacob deGrom unlikely to start Tuesday

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 14:45:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (lat) is now "unlikely" to make his next start against the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, April 19. SP Logan Verrett is expected to fill in again. The Mets are likely to make a disabled list decision on deGrom soon.

Fantasy Tip: A career-high 191 innings plus playoff outings may have taken their toll on deGrom, as he also dealt with nagging injuries this spring which kept his velocity down. He's a legitimate fantasy ace when he's healthy, but you'll have to find backup plans in the event he lands on the DL. Verrett pitched six shutout innings in his spot start against the Marlins Wednesday and will be attractive once again for a fantasy spot start against the weak-hitting Phils next week if it comes to that.

Mets | Logan Verrett shines in spot start

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 13:53:18 -0700

New York Mets SP Logan Verrett made a terrific spot start filling in for SP Jacob deGrom (lat) Wednesday, April 13, against the Miami Marlins. He spun six shutout innings of three-hit ball, walking two and striking out six.

Fantasy Tip: Verrett was also pretty good in a handful of starts as a rookie last season, but unfortunately for the 25-year-old, he plays for the New York Mets, who already have a stacked rotation. While he's shown some talent, the right-hander would need a change of scenery to become relevant in fantasy baseball. deGrom will most likely be back for his next assignment.

Mets | Jacob deGrom scratched from start

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 08:51:31 -0700

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (lat) will miss his next start against the Miami Marlins due to right lat tightness Wednesday, April 13. Manager Terry Collins doesn't think deGrom's injury will lead to a disabled list stint. deGrom thinks he'll only miss one start and has no plans for an MRI exam. SP Logan Verrett will fill in for deGrom against the Marlins Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: DeGrom's injury is definitely concerning, considering a lot of lat/oblique injuries tend to linger for pitchers. Hopefully he'll feel better after some extra rest, but plan for the worst-case scenario; a trip to the disabled list for deGrom.

Mets | Jacob deGrom may leave early

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 07:17:22 -0700

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom may leave his start Friday, April 8, early as his wife is expected to go into labor soon. He has a private jet waiting for him, and P Logan Verrett will be ready if deGrom has to leave early.

Fantasy Tip: deGrom is a risky DFS option today, but he has such a great matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies. It's possible he gives the team five innings, and they pull him.

Mets | Logan Verrett to start Wednesday

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 22:53:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets SP Logan Verrett will make the start Wednesday, Sept. 30, against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Terry Collins confirmed Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Verrett ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is a solid mid-tier FantasyScore play for his final scheduled start of the regular season.

Mets | Logan Verrett likely for Wednesday

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 13:36:37 -0700

New York Mets RP Logan Verrett is likely to make a spot start Wednesday, Sept. 30, with SP Steven Matz (side) being pushed back to Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Verrett ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has pitched surprisingly well in a few spot starts late this year for the Mets, and the Phillies are a promising matchup. He could be worth a cheap buy as your second starting pitcher on FantasyScore. Matz ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) is also certainly worth the investment against the Phils Thursday since his injury is pretty minor.

Braves | Cameron Maybin not starting Tuesday

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 12:22:59 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin is not starting Tuesday, Sept. 22, against the New York Mets. OF Michael Bourn is hitting eighth in place of Maybin, against Mets SP Logan Verrett.

Fantasy Tip: Maybin ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) appears to be getting a normal off night so Bourn can get some playing time in center. Bourn ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has a .176 average against the Mets and doesn't carry much fantasy value.

Braves | Nick Markakis back for ATL

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 12:18:42 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Nick Markakis (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 22, and he is hitting leadoff against New York Mets SP Logan Verrett.

Fantasy Tip: Markakis ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) can go right back in your FantasyScore lineup. He has a .350 average in the last seven days and has a .294 mark for September, so Markakis is finishing his first year in Atlanta on a high note.
