Athletics | Mark Canha to undergo surgery

Tue, 17 May 2016 18:14:04 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha (leg) will undergo surgery Thursday, May 24, to remove excess bone growth on his left femur. Canha is expected to be facing a six-month recovery.

Fantasy Tip: Canha likely will miss the rest of the season, so owners should drop him in all leagues. Billy Butler and Max Muncy probably will see more playing time with Canha out but do not have much value outside AL-only leagues.

Athletics | Mark Canha looking at lengthy absence

Fri, 13 May 2016 15:18:29 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha (back, hip) underwent an MRI exam Thursday, May 12, that confirmed his lower back strain and a possible impingement in his left hip. Canha will likely try a cortisone injection for his hip, but if it does not work, he could face season-ending surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Canha has a disastrous .122/.140/.341 slash line through 44 plate appearances this season, so given the injury news, he should be replaced in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Athletics | Mark Canha to DL

Tue, 10 May 2016 11:10:04 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain Tuesday, May 10.

Fantasy Tip: Canha was slashing just .122/.140/.341 with three home runs and six RBI in 41 at-bats in a bench role for the A's. His limited playing time made him a weak option in deep AL-only leagues. You can probably cut bait now.
