Athletics | Mark Canha starting in left field

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 11:22:24 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF/1B Mark Canha will start in left field and bat seventh against Seattle Mariners SP Mike Montgomery Sunday, July 5. INF/OF Ben Zobrist, who played left field Saturday, July 4, will play second base and bat third.

Fantasy Tip: The right-handed-hitting Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is batting .242 overall but is just 8-for-66 (.121) this year when facing lefties. For this reason, it would be wise to avoid using him in FantasyScore today.

Athletics | Mark Canha drives in three runs

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 05:41:38 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI during Oaklands' 9-5 loss to the Seattle Mariners Friday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) isn't playing as frequently as he was earlier in the season, but he has started the past four games. Still, he is nothing more than an option for cavernous mixed and AL-only owners in seasonal leagues. At FantasyScore, Canha is a matchup play, especially against right-handed pitchers.

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 15:37:00 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha will start in left field and hit eighth in the lineup Thursday, July 2, against the Seattle Mariners and LHP Roenis Elias.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is just 7-for-62 against southpaws this season, and he should be avoided for FantasyScore purposes.

Athletics | Ike Davis sitting out

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 16:36:48 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Ike Davis is not starting against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Jorge De La Rosa Tuesday, June 30. C Stephen Vogt is starting at first base, which allows C Josh Phegley to enter the starting lineup. OF Mark Canha is starting in left field and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) could be an excellent value play to save money at other positions tonight. He's sporting a .362/.423/.617 line with three of his five home runs off lefties in 47 at-bats this year. On the other hand, Vogt ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) and Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are weaker plays. Vogt has just one of his 13 long balls off lefties and Canha has just seven hits in 59 at-bats (.119) against southpaws in 2015.

Athletics | Mark Canha in two-hole Wednesday

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 15:36:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha is starting in left field and hitting second against Texas Rangers SP Wandy Rodriguez Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is an interesting case with reverse splits; he hits much better against right-handed pitchers (.299-8-22) than against lefties (.125-0-4) in 2015. Consider him a weaker outfield option tonight on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Three A's like facing Rangers

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 10:06:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics OFs Josh Reddick and Mark Canha and C Stephen Vogt have combined to go 29-for-73 (.397) with eight home runs and 29 RBI against the Texas Rangers this season.

Fantasy Tip: Reddick ($4,300, 8.6% of cap), Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Vogt ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) have all enjoyed hitting right-handed pitchers in 2015. Reddick has been in a bit of a funk of late, but he and Vogt remain acceptable plays in tonight's matchup. Make sure Canha is in the lineup for Oakland before considering him as a value pick.

Athletics | Billy Butler sitting out

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 11:01:46 -0700

Oakland Athletics 1B Billy Butler is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards Sunday, June 21. 1b Mark Canha will serve as the designated hitter and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Butler ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is hitting .324 with two home runs and six RBI this month and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Mark Canha starting at first

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 17:17:36 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha will start at first base and hit seventh in the order Tuesday, June 9, against the Texas Rangers. 1B Max Muncy comes out of the lineup against RHP Nick Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is riding a four-game hit streak, which includes a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, Sunday, June 7. Canha can offer some cap relief in an excellent matchup for the A's.

Athletics | Ben Zobrist out Sunday

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 07:04:11 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist is out of the starting lineup Sunday, June 7, against the Boston Red Sox. OF Mark Canha will get the start in left field and he will bat seventh in the order against RHP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has a hit in three straight games, including a solo home run Saturday. Canha can be used for cap relief in GPP tournaments on FantasyScore, as he's hitting .290 against righties, with all seven of his home runs having come against right-handers as well.

Athletics | Mark Canha starting against Boston

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 12:29:55 -0700

Oakland Athletics OF Mark Canha is batting eighth and playing first base against the Boston Red Sox Friday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to note Canha's ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) struggles against southpaws, as he has gone just 5-for-47 this season against lefties. With left-handed Wade Miley starting against Oakland Friday, there is little incentive to start Canha in daily contests.
